Ideal for Salisbury and surrounding areas

Have just spent 4 nights at this site.  The wardens are some of the most friendly and helpful that we have met at any CC site, nothing to much trouble for them. Lovely quiet site mostly grass pitches which are spacious, we stayed in the top area near toilets and had great views over the countryside. The only downside is the location, the road outside is a main route from Salisbury (a hidden gem of a city) and gets very busy so I do not recommend walking as there are not any footpaths!!  The nearest pub with food is approx 3 miles away which is a pity as we enjoy an evening stroll with a beer or two at the end of it. However, the overall location and layout and spotless facilities made up for this slight disappointment. Would I go back? Certainly for a quiet break.

disappointed

We stay most weekends on c.c.sites, this is the first we have felt not welcome. we arrived early due to less traffic than we were told we should expect, there was no place to park and wait. We were allowed reluctantly onsite. The site is quite a way out of Salisbury which I should have checked.Shame as I had spoken to a man on site a few weeks before and he told me first come first served, never mentioned not to arrive early but it would have been helpful. We quite often arrive a little early and have never been treated like this before, and have always been happy to wait. On a brighter side the site has lovely outlook. Not much else going for it.

A nice little site

This was our first visit to this site and found it very clean and tidy. The toilet block was always clean but there is only one toilet block on site. Hence my rating. The pitches are on slopes so you do need levelling blocks etc. but it is very well maintained.

Peaceful and functional

We stayed only for one night which was memorable for gale force winds and we pitched on the top site which was in direct line of it !  The site has a narrow entrance and great care is necessary if you are a "wide boy". The pitches are spread over several levels but for proximity to the facilities, choose the top level adjacent to reception and avoid the uphill walk. The dog walk is a track down a hill and I just have to mention the pleasant surprise of fragrant facilities. (other CC sites take note)  It did the job for us.

Peaceful

The Wardens on this site are very friendly and could not be more helpful. The site is well located for trips out to a variety of interesting activities and places to visit. The site was relatively quiet when we arrived but soon became pretty busy come the weekend. The pitches are varied, some grass, some hard standing. Many of the pitches however appeared to be quite small, especially if you arrive with a twin axle van. That said, all were well maintained and the top grassed area was ideal for us. The toilet block was very clean and modern, but is located at the entrance to the site. Fine if you are on the top level, but a trek if you are at the bottom of the site. Worth considering if you don't want a walk. Dog owners will be pleased to note a lovely track immediately alongside the entrance to the site, perfect for letting them off the lead for a run. The issue of a sign outside the site seems to be an anomaly, there was one there when we visited last week!!!!! We followed the Clubs directions on line and found it easily enough.

Salisbury oasis

We had one night stay on the way home from a holiday in Cornwall. The site was quiet due to being midweek and in March. The warden was very friendly and welcoming and the site was immaculate with service points conveniently situated around the site. The site is well laid out with good sized pitches mixed grass and hard standings. The only issue for first time visitors is the lack of a site sign on the road outside, apparently due to council regulations following the relocation of another road sign causing a breach of "regulations". For information of members the entrance is adjacent to a garage, don't  miss it as I did, coming from Lopcombe Corner, only it is a long drive before you can turn round!
