We stayed at Putts Corner for 2 nights during July.
We found the wardens very welcoming and very helpful
The site is not huge and a bit hilly, but the pitches are all pretty flat.
Our one disappointment with the site was that there is no secure dog walking area. There is a small wooded area along the edge of the site to walk dogs, but as it is by the road, I wasn’t happy letting my dog off the lead.
The site is 5 miles from Sidmouth. There is an hourly bus service into town from the end of the road into the site, or you can get a taxi which costs around £18, as they need to come out from Sidmouth. Sidmouth is well worth a visit with nice shops and plenty of places to eat and drink.
The pub at the end of the road, The Hare & Hounds, is very nice, having eaten there on our first night. They also get extra points from us as they allow dogs.
The toilet and shower facilities were clean and we didn’t encounter many queues in spite of current restrictions.
I would suggest you need a car or bikes to make the most of the area.
still a gem .
Second stay at this lovely site ,a very warm and pleasent welcome from the lovely ladies on reception ,Covid measures in place and well run ,only slight niggle was that some people seem to think that walking pace at 5mph equals 20mph in a car ! that said we will be back to this fab site .
First time at Putts Corner
First visit and we were impressed. Nice quiet spot but a good pub just around the corner. Good bus service to Sidmouth, Exeter and Honiton. Plenty of walking and cycling around the area with pretty villages nearby. Good for relaxing and the facilities were the usual high standard with friendly and helpful wardens. We will definitely be going back but maybe not during the school holidays as it's probably a bit quieter.
Lovely site just a few miles drive to the coast
The site itself is to expected Caravan Club standard with well spaced pitches and a lovely dog walk through the wooded area on the site (not secure). We did use our own facilities due to the current covid problems but access to the showers/toilets, if required, was well organised using a supplied wrist band which had to be left on a board outside the block showing that the block was occupied. 3 bands there and you waited outside for someone to exit. The lady wardens were pleasant and on the ball when some tried to park their units wrongly on the pitch (rightly so).
Ideal for visiting the lovely seaside towns of Sidmouth, Beer and Lyme Regis (give Seaton a miss though). The nearest Tesco supermarket is a 10 minute drive.
Newbies
Only the second time out in our Motorhome since we bought it in November last year. Stayed for 2 nights on 6/7 August. Arrival and booking in was easy. The site was very busy, only a few pitches available but we found a quiet corner spot (22). Covid precautions were explained on arrival. Three people allowed in the shower block at a time, we did feel that this could probably be increased to 4, possibly 5, and still maintain social distancing.
There is a pub nearby (Hare and Hounds) about 10 minutes walk through a woodland path. The food is good - general pub grub. It has a large garden with a children's play area. There is a bus stop by the pub, opposite side goes to Sidmouth, same side goes to Honiton, (no sign we just stood underneath a tree with some other campers). We caught the bus into Sidmouth, takes about 25 minutes.
Really liked this site. The kid's play area was still closed (most community play areas are now open so not sure why this one is shut) so maybe more children were playing around the site but didn't really bother us. Will probably come back at some point, but want to explore other sites first.
Great first getaway
The wardens were very welcoming and explained the COVID measures in place when we checked in. In general the wrist band system worked well and there wasn’t too much queuing. We did use our own facilities at busy times. The only disquieting thing was kids riding bikes and scooters the wrong way round the site. Three of them came hurtling at us round a bend as we were leaving and only just missing us. What is it with some parents? Don’t they realise how dangerous this is?

Great place for coastal walks
First visit to a site after lockdown and first visit to this site. Lovely location and quiet. However we did park near to the road and could hear the traffic but not a major problem. Site clean and tidy and wardens very helpful.
We didn't follow the instructions in the site booklet in relation to the sat nav and ended up on some really narrow roads.
Would certain visit again.
Great experience!
This site is well placed for the coast (Sidmouth / Budleigh Salterton) and the countryside. It is just 2 miles from Honiton, with access to a supermarket and fuel.
The welcome was exemplary. With everything that is going on right now, it excuded confidence and joy - as well as being informative. Unlike an earlier reviewer, we were informed which pitches were available - which I suggest can only work if you arrive later in the day after most folk have pitched up.
Wristband system was working well by the time we arrived (second half of July).
I would definitely return to this site again.
Gem of a site

Site is very well kept.....Facilities spotless...Good dog walk.... Wardens extremely helpful. Very nice and we enjoyed our stay..Thankyou.
