Attractive site

We stayed at Putts Corner over the August bank holiday which was our first visit to this site. We obviously expected the site to be busy! This said we arrived at 14.30pm on the Friday and instantly thought what an attractive site it was. Sadly we were left with very little option in terms of the pitch and we ended up on a very uneven and hilly grass pitch under a very large tree. In light of the quality of the majority of the other pitches this was very frustrating. I honestly believe the grass pitches on this site should be priced accordingly or even better withdrawn from sale and improved to the quality of the other pitches. On the positive side the facilities and wardens were excellent as was the location. If you like a short easy walk to a good pub then you have an excellent choice. We would like to visit this site again but we would like a much better pitch but of course there is no guarantee off this due to the booking system with the caravan and motorhome club.

Disappointing

I have used this site for six years now (since buying a caravan and joining the club).usually at least twice per year. Have just returned and feel a few things really do need to be addressed. We stayed on service pitch 83, the waste drain is either level or just above the caravan waste level, simply put, the waste will not drain away sufficiently. It’s quite annoying when paying extra for these facilities and having to go outside and lift the waste pipe to drain the water away. Secondly, it is noticeable that parents are not in control of their children. For those that haven’t been to this site, it it’s quite hilly, it’s a very nice way for kids to hurtle down on bikes at ridiculous speeds (forget 5mph speed limits) without holding onto handlebars. Whilst we were there, in one instance my wife called me from the shower block because there were a few girls basically trashing the place. Throwing water around etc. To be very fair I contacted the wardens who were off duty and were there in an instant to clear things up. The next evening the same thing was going on in the men’s block. Youths throwing water all around, wiping soap all over the mirrors a throwing the contents of the bin all over the floor. I confronted those involved only to be met with the usual lip and abuse. I actually cleared the mess up, warden off duty but that was my decision. This now seems to be a continuing theme at putts during school holidays. Unfortunately this falls back to the club but, the service blocks do need to be more secure, and policed in the evening. They are a magnet for social miscreants, whilst parents have a nice time of their own. My advice, if you are looking for a quiet time in August forget putts corner. Wardens great, area fantastic, used to be our favourite site.

Grass pitches Disappointing

This is a great site with ease of access via Honiton. However don't leave it until late to arrive as when pretty full the only pitches that get left on grass you need half a tree in blocks to get level. To the point there are slices of tree trunk left in the hedges to block up the front steadies. From some of the sights the 'vans look somewhat precarious balanced almost dangerous. And as for awnings well !.. For the price one pays it's about time these pitches were levelled off.

Great stop over or base to tour from

Lovely location, lovely helpful staff team and an ideal location to either stop over for a few days or to use as a base to visit the local area. Dog friendly and a good pub a short walk away

Helpful Staff

My wife and I stayed for five nights in August 2019. We had a problem connecting to the water point on our serviced pitch but the staff were extremely helpful and we were able to resolve it very quickly. This is a very well kept site and ideal for those wanting a quiet and restful stay. Access is easy and the pub just a few minutes walk away serves good food at reasonable prices. We play golf as part of our holidays and Sidmouth and Honiton golf clubs are within a few miles and very welcoming to visiting players. All in all, a very nice break away.

Great site

The site was well kept, the facilities i.e. toilet block/ showers were immaculate, and the staff - the all woman team did a great job.

Great site but security issues.

A lovely site with good location that we have enjoyed on 2 occasions this year, however on our stay last week on pitch 109 I was very alarmed to be sitting enjoying a quiet evening with my wife when a drunk male staggered from behind my motorhome, walked across my pitch and wobbled his way to the toilet block! On closer inspection there’s footpath access to the rear of pitch 109 that runs through the wooded area where dog walkers frequent, the path has public access from a public road and the public house is very close by, giving hidden access to the site by anyone and the potential for theft (or drunks wandering on your pitch) is unobstructed, especially on the pitches backing onto this woodland path. The security risk needs to be dealt with ASAP, but other than this it’s a well run clean site with good facilities.

A Perfect Holiday

Two weeks spent at Putts Corner created our perfect holiday. The site was delightful, peaceful, perfectly maintained and the facilities spotless. The Wardens were top class - helpful, friendly, funny and always busy. Our twin axle unit and large awning was easily accommodated on a grass pitch which was perfect. The woodland dog walk was great - apart from those "bad" dog owners who fail to clear up after their dog - shame on you! There was another lovely woodland walk outside the entrance which was great. There is lovely creative woodwork including the new insect home around the site made by the Wardens. If you order the fish & chips ensure you are hungry - huge yummy portions! The pathway to the Hare & Hounds was easy and your reward was a lovely country pub with a choice of excellent food, drink and huge garden with lovely views. There are lots of nearby places to visit, but if you want your heart to melt visit The Donkey Sanctuary. Well done to the Wardens for creating and running a perfect place for a holiday.

Disappointed

We stayed at this site beginning of August a few years ago, due to distance we don’t get here until 6pm - 7pm. Last time site was full apart from an unattainable pitch for our van and a sideways on piece of grass. We were able to move the next day. So we thought we would give them a second chance due to location. We booked a serviced pitch at a very increased price as we knew they would have to save us one. Oh dear what a mistake. It was so small and up against a bank that we were unable to put our awning up and use the front entrance. Clearly again the last one left. So if you are coming to this site come mid week and avoid Saturdays
