Pools Brook

First time at this site, though its fairly local. We have had a first week shakedown 2 days at Seaton Sluice, 2 days here and 2 days at Skegness Sands. This site exceeded my expectations, spotlessly clean with great facilities. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Cycling round here is wonderful, we will be back.

A tidy Site with plenty to do for the active

This is a nice, neatly presented site with an air of newness still. The toilet blocks were is very clean condition when we visited and were up to the usual high standard of the club. These are Environmentally friendly, being heated partially by Ground Source heating. The site is on reclaimed land of an old colliery and works but all traces of the industrial past are now gone as the area has been revamped into a country park with lakes, and paths all round.

The only criticism I would make is that the exit from the site is badly planned as it involves a sharp right hand turn immediately after the exit barrier. This is not a problem with a solo car, but with the 7.5m caravan hitched up, it was 'interesting'.

Nearby, the old railway line that had served several local pits has now been converted into a multi use off road path that leads South and North. This is accessed from the site directly via another path. To the South, the path becomes part of the Trans Pennine Trail leading to Chesterfield a pleasant 5 mile walk through well signposted lanes and paths. To the North, there is another loop of the Trans Pennine Trail leading to Chesterfield along the side of the Chesterfield Canal(5.5 miles) and is flat the majority of the way. Again this is well signposted.

The wardens we met were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and will certainly be back.

Good local site

The site is lovely although it's not in the countryside as such when you're on the site you could be as its really peaceful. The wardens are  really friendly and the site is well kept. I've put 3 stars for location as the approach to the site and the area aren't the best but there is the lake and good play areas for children. Really enjoyed our stay

What A Surprise !

Only living a few miles down the road we decided to spend 4 days at Poolsbrook to shakedown our motorhome after a winter off the road. What a brilliant decision, 4 days of great walking with our 2 Border Collies on good well marked paths in nice dry weather. Very good staff on hand to help and first class facilities. We will be back soon !!

Great Spot for all the family

We came here for a weekend break at the end of Feb 15. We were pleasantly surprised. The wardens were very friendly on arrival. The park itself was lovely and clean so were the toilets and shower block. The park was laid out well. Just down from the park is the lake with 3 children's play areas and a adult play area. There is a cafe and seating. There is local track routes for bikes and walks. The local Morrisons is about 1 mile and the town wasnt far at all. There was also a carvery about 5-10 mins drive up the road. We will be coming back to this park in the future.

First outing of the year

Enjoyed our first night away this year. Lovely site, easy to get to, wardens very friendly, site clean and tidy, facilities block very clean, warm. Only problem was the thoughtless parents who let their children ride scooters round and round the site constantly all afternoon and well into evening, would they let them ride around a car park?

Snowy March Break

Visited this site March, was hoping to do lots of cycling but the weather was cold, windy & Snowing.  Made a lovely break for us though.  We did a days cycling and another day spent the afternoon walking round the Country Park.  The Site is lovely and clean & fresh.  Friendly staff on this visit too.  Really handy for the Motorway and we like the spacious pitches. We shall certainly be paying another visit.

easy to get to

Very accessible site, able to walk to Staveley for Morrison's shopping, or hop on the bus, which you can change onto bus for Chesterfield. Not a quiet site and Thursday night seems to be "boy racers" night locally till the early hours. Large pitches and overall a good site, and ideal stopover site being close to motorway.

Good site

The wardens keep the site very clean and tidy. The pitches are generous with wide grassy areas between some of them. Adjacent to Poolsbrook Country Park for walks, lovely on a frosty morning.
