this was our third visit and we will be back just after christmas, its a wonderful modern site with spotless facilities which we have come to expect from a club site, its very peaceful and very quiet considering its proximity to a factory complex which you drive through to get to the site and its a pleasant surprise having passed through an industrial area to find such a lovely site.
First 2015 outing
Just had four nights at this site. It was our first outing this year. A very nice welcom from the wardens, good flat pitch with tv connection. The toilet and showers are spotless and the warmest we have ever had. The track round the lake in the country park was great for us as we are both runners and this ment we could get our morning run in without any traffic. Public transport very good, bus stop just outside park. A very nice four day break, I'm sure we will be back.
Winter visit
We have just spent 8 nights on the site. The shower block is kept nice and clean and the underfloor heating in the showers is great. The site shop didn't sell milk or indeed have any supplies. The local shops aren't far but milk available on the site would be handy. It was a very well used site. The wardens weren't seen much by us but they kept the site nice and tidy. The country park is close and we used it several times as we have two dogs who like their walks. Unfortunately in February it was muddy and dirty on some of the country park paths, we had to wash the dogs off before they were allowed back in the caravan. We also had to plough through some quite wet areas of mud to access all of the lakes, take your wellies or walking boots. The country park has a lot of facilities for children and there are lots of places to walk. It is well placed to travel to out to many parks and the peak district. Staveley itself is disappointing. We visited Rother Valley C.P. , Clumber Park, Bakewell and the Monsal Trail.
excellent
This site is perfect. Clean, quite, very well maintained. Staff are wonderful. We have been on this site a few times as it's very local to us, but when you there you feel a million miles away from home. Thankyou poolsbrooke keep up the excellent service and work.

Perfect overnight stop
On this occasion was travelling alone and needed overnight site. Looked at CL options then realised with the midweek 50% reduction, this club site was actually cheaper than any local CL and with considerably better facilities.
Just off the M1 it is very easy access (even with the signed roadworks diversion was at the site within minutes of leaving the motorway). Arrived just before dusk and greeted by very friendly and cheery warden - made me feel welcome right away. Facilities are what you expect on a club site and of high quality. I hadn't intended to use the showers as it was literally an overnight stop with early departure next morning, but when I visited the facilities block on arrival, it was just too tempting not to use all the facilities (after all I'd paid for them!).
The handbook says TV reception is poor but my fairly cheap TV immediately picked up dozens of channels with good signal.
Leaving early next morning I didn't have time to explore the country park and surrounding attractions but will certainly put this site on the list of places to come back to and stay for longer

Frozen but enjoyable
We arrived eventually after finding our way around the road works. The "stand in" wardens did their best to direct us but the Authorities need to provide better signage. After that we had a lovely four nights despite sub zero temperatures and freezing water pipes.
Derbyshire is lovely and we will return (in the summer though).
Great site
We spent 3 nights here at the end of January our first time.. Friendly staff and shower block clean. We liked the walks straight from site great when you have dogs. One thing I would say this is like a lot of CC sites they don't have enough dog bins round the site why when they moan when they find dog muck around get them dog bins out
Poolsbrooke in Winter
We had a 11 night stay here in the first half of January on one of the eight fully serviced pitches. I can't comment on the resident wardens as we only briefly met them, but it's obvious they keep a tidy site, and the relief wardens were excellent. Really good toilet/shower/laundry block, one of the best I've seen. The site is quite exposed in winter when the trees are bare, and the wind ripped across it while we were there. The pitches are generous, and you're never far from a service point if you're not on a serviced pitch. Be careful when exiting the barrier with your unit, previous comments about the right hand kerb are spot on. The site details suggest the TV reception is poor, our pitch had a tv socket on the power bollard, and reception through this was pretty good. Mobile phone reception (EE) was fine, and the site wifi was much better than I've experienced at other sites (but it was pretty empty). Country park looks OK, but didn't get to use it as much as we'd like, as got a dose of manflu. I imagine this site is a cracker in the right weather. Very pleased to see it's now open all year, apart from the exposed to the wind nature of the site, it's a good all year site with good drainage. We'd use it again if we were in the area again, easy access to Sheffield, Chesterfield, Ikea at Nottingham, and the watersports centre at Rother Lake.
summer or winter
We have been to this site quite a few times, and are now delighted to find it open all year, staff friendly and they keep the site immaculate. The pitches are well laid out and large. As for the toilet facilities, well they are spotless. Well done.
Lovely site
Returned from another 6 night stay at this lovely site. Wardens very friendly and helpful as always.
Will be returning again shortly.
