Lovely site - strange for dogs though

I stayed at this site for one night during the week as I was working locally. I was on my own with my 2 small dogs. I would normally take them for a very quick 5 mins walk before bed but was told I couldn't walk them around the site so would have to go to the road which wasn't very well lit. This felt a bit strange. Anyway other than that the site is brilliant. And the staff really helpful. Its in a beautiful location. Hopefully I'll be able to stay again with work :-)

SOOOOOO Convenient

The site is only 12 miles from home, which means I can pitch the caravan at 12 noon, go home and pick the grandchildren up from school and be back on site by 4:15. It is also close enough for mum or dad (or both) to fetch them on Sunday night so we can stop until Monday. The site itself is level, spotlessly clean and the toilet facilities are magnificent. In the last 12 months the club has introduced a number of full service pitches.Plenty of room on all the pitches for the biggest of awnings. Just off site is an excellent little tea room in the country park which itself has lots of water bird life on the lake (Herons, Swans, Geese, Canada Geese and ducks to name just a few) and lots of walking opportunities, Right round the lake is about two miles: on Saturday mornings there is a park run and on Sundays a fishing competition. On site, on Friday's there is a Pizza van (makes a change from fish and chips) for a couple of hours. Check before you rely on it though, things have a habit of changing. Relax and enjoy, its a great site.

First visit

First caravan trip in over 15 years. Site was easy to find and handy for the motorway. An easy check in with friendly wardens. Pitches level and well maintained. Shower/toilet block was immaculate. We had heavy thunderstorms but the ground easily coped with the water with no signs of puddles. Would recommend this site to anyone but I won’t in case their are no pitches available when I next book. If all the club sites are like this I’ll be happy .

great weekend, ideal for parkrun

We enjoyed a great weekend at Poolsbrook. We received a warm welcome and checked out the facilities which are top notch.... we then took advantage of the excellent pizza van. This site is ideally located for any parkrun enthusiasts as you only need to roll out of bed and jog 150yds to the course on Saturday morning - I really enjoyed it on a sunny Saturday. The parkrun should really feature in the site overview and description as an excellent benefit of staying here. A trip to Bolsover castle rounded off an excellent day.

Long weekend of leisure

Wow what a lovely level site well cared for. Heavy rain overnight did not leave us wading through large deep puddles. Wardens were friendly and cared. Toilet and showers were clean and all working, just be wary they close 10.30. - 12 noon for cleaning. Access to the site was very easy and no single track roads. Ideal to walk for miles and miles, being located in the Country Park and on the Trans Pennine trail in walking distance of so much lovely country side. There is a nice walk off the site down the trail along the canal bank, 7.5 miles to and from the cafe. this was our first stay on the site but will be back in the future.

Enjoyable winter break

After a speedy check in by the lovely lady warden, we were spoilt for choice with the many excellent, level and well cared for pitches. Everything was spot on, clean and well cared for. If I had one criticism, it would be that it would have been nice to see more planters/shrubs. Landscaping is all very functional and lacking in imagination. However, this is my only criticism for an otherwise great site.

More than just a stopover, worth a longer visit.

Just spent five nights here. It’s a lovely site and it’s so easy to get to. Close to the motorway, but you have to listen hard to hear it. The site is well laid out and perfectly kept. From the smiling face that greets you on arrival and surrounding area, there’s not a lot that could prevent you from having that smile on your face when you leave.

Quick transit stop

I stayed one night as I had an early appointment in the local area. Arriving after 5pm on a Sunday evening I found the office locked but the relief warden was clearly looking out for my arrival and appeared before I rang the bell. It was a warm and efficient welcome and he very helpfully pointed out on the site map, the two pitches that were vacant. I was the final arrival of the day. Unfortunately there was a problem with the EHU, most likely my van as it tripped the supply but the relief warden was very kind about being asked to help at 6pm and he came out and we sorted the problem quite quickly. I was struck by how helpful he was even on a dark Sunday evening when he was no doubt just about to relax for the evening. The site is clean with level and spacious pitches. The facilities are very modern and extremely clean. There is noise from the M1 but it isn't overwhelming. A good site and excellent friendly service from the wardens.
