Booked for 4 nights stayed 14.

We were using this site as a stopover on a trip to Northumberland. But as the weather reports for that area were dire and we were basking in sunshine it seemed a no brainer to remain where we were. This site is easy to find, being a short hop from Junction 29A of the M1. The pitches are large and well spaced out. The facilities are excellent, particularly the size of the shower cubicles. Much larger then some sites we have been on. The site managers were welcoming and very helpful throughout our stay. The country park had nice walks, and the café did some rather nice cakes. We found it very easy to get to the Peak District attractions from the site. A bus to Chesterfield was a 5 min walk away. For those who like walking or cycling, the Trans Pennine Way starts just outside the gate. It meets up at Staveley with the restored Chesterfield canal, and it is a pleasant, 6 miles or so walk along into Chesterfield. Nearest attractions to the site, apart from the twisted spire of Chesterfield parish church, are Bolsover Castle and Hardwick Hall. Chatsworth is a short drive away. There was none of the disturbance as described by another poster. Maybe that problem had been addressed. We would certainly return to this site.

Pleasant Site

A very pleasant and well kept site with excellent facilities. Wardens were very welcoming. Our only complaint was the noise from "boy racers" outside the park on an evening basis.

Perfect overnight

Was just going to use and abuse this site as an overnight stay from North to South. What a lovely little Gem. On entrance you think perfect overnight so close to motorway, tho a quick glance left reveals a lively park to explore. Wardens as the majority very welcoming, facilities very well kept tho probably need a little maintenance service as the shower was singing at me whilst removing shampoo. This site is perfect for them overnight stops whilst travelling further afield tho it so much more than that. We will be back for longer next time.

Spacious Well kept site

Stayed here for a couple of nights last week. Site is easy to find and access. Shower block very clean with good dish washing area as well. Excellent drive over grey waste dump for motorhomes. The site is very spacious with large pitches. The bus stop is about a 5 minutes walk away on the main road. We did not suffer and noise problems as mentioned by other reviewers.

A lovely site and lovely staff but spoilt by noisy and intimidating boy racers' revving engines and loud music

What more can we say, such a shame! Despite lots of rain, our stay would have been fine - very good facilities, staff etc. - but the boy racers every evening congregating in the country park car park next door spoilt it for us and our grandchildren.

A good stay for us

Our first visit to this site. We were a little wary as we approached the site through a commercial/industrial area (easy roads and well signposted) but were pleased when we actually arrived. Once on the site the surroundings are pleasant. The site is very well maintained to Club standards and the staff are both friendly and helpful. Over the weekend we didn't have any issues with noise that seems to have been a problem for some other reviewers. We would recommend and will stay again.

Boy racers and loud music every night

Spent 6 nights at Poolsbrook, site ok, not best location as next to industrial estate, close to M1 and adjoining so called Poolsbrook Country Park where every night boy racers congregated in car park revving engines and playing loud bass music. Has been reported to site staff and police are aware but occurred every night. Otherwise site to usual standards, key required for toilets/shower block, two supplied along with access barrier card. Be careful to follow directions and not turn off too early through housing estate. Also be aware of numerous speed cameras throughout the area. Staff very welcoming and friendly, if boy racers sorted would be better, otherwise select pitch away from park side.

Disappointed

The site is clean and tidy with a lovely shower block. The site claims you'll be delighted and I'm sure you will be if you get past the drone of the M1 (which is close by) or the boy racers is the park next door were going on past 9pm with engines revving and bass coming from stereos. Overall I wouldn't return to the site.

First timers

As it was our first time in a campervan , I can recommend this site. The shower and toilet block where modern and spotless as well as spacious and not over crowded. The pitches are quite large and you don't feel rammed in next to the neighbouring campers so plenty of privacy. The site is very well maintained neat and tidy. Staff on site very friendly happy to help if any problems. Over all a very good experience for first time out,we can only hope all sites will be this good!
