Back from Pembrey

We are a couple in our mid 50s. On arrival there were only three pitches available, we went for the best one, but tbh there wasn't a lot to choose from. Some of the pitches are great, spacey and some are squashed and shady. With hindsight we wish we hadn't put up the awning and moved pitches, our mistake. We were right next door to the bins/CDP/ glass recycling.  It really is about time the CC put recycling near the main gate, we were really fed up with the banging and crashing of glass being launched into the bin. Our pitch was en route to the toilet block, a great short cut, soon remedied by a windbreak in place, as soon as it was down, the cyclists, kids and adults and walkers were cycling/cutting through The site is ideal for families with the country park a stone's throw away and a very long sandy beach. However no one goes to Wales for the weather, but anywhere worth going is a minimum of an hours drive away, there really isn't anything local to visit at all. It is the first time we have visited a CC site with more wardens than showers! Four just isn't enough and with such poor pressure it takes twice as long to shower, be careful not to burn yourself on the hot water pipes when getting too close to the shower head. Also the locks were far too high for kiddies to reach. One of our biggest bug bears was the milkman that woke us up every morning at 9am (we are on holiday!), tooting his horn as he drove round the site. Grrr..... There are lots of dogs on site which is fine as long as they are well behaved, but we saw one couple with five! Surely it's about time the CC put a limit in place. There is a donkey that continually brays through the night, it didn't wake me up but when I was awake at night I could hear it.  I feel sorry for those pitched adjacent to the field where he stays. At £30 a night for two adults we felt a bit cheated,  the wardens were lovely, welcoming and friendly, just not the site for us I'm afraid.

Idyllic Pembrey.

Pembrey is somewhere special for my wifey, and I to go. It is local for us, how lucky are we.......... under an hour away from home. To be able to enjoy such a good well run site. It has a friendly atmosphere, with welcoming, and very helpful, cheerful Wardens. We go there quite often, and thoroughly enjoy. Yep, we are so lucky to have such a site close by.

Visit 2/08/16 to 5/08/2016

The club site was very good and our pitch, and there were not many left on that day, was good and spacious. The Managers were very welcoming and helpful when we required them to be. We were so relieved that there were no squirrels (see Crystal Palace) We were disappointed with Pembrey Park and found it looking very run down considering it was £5 per day to park. The Segway was not there anymore and yet is still "online" Fortunately the Toboggan run opened up later in the week. The Pony riding centre left much to be desired in quality! It was awash with stagnant water and the horses were in an enclosure which had very little and poor grazing.Sorry Pembrey Park, I hope that the council upgrades it soon. This is what the caravan club site partly relies on this.

Excellent

What an excellent site.  Nothing was too much work for the main wardens and very friendly and welcoming.  Every part of the campsite spotlessly clean as where the toilets, laundry room etc. Extremely busy site as it is ideal for families and dogs.  Grass was cut and hedges tidy - wardens working non stop all day.  Will definately return.  Milk, bread and ice cream van daily.

Disappointed

Stayed for the first time, not again. Facilities good and clean.  Site wardens friendly but not pro active, pitch next to us was very badly maintained with no grass just mud, should have been closed. This could have been done as pitches were available.  There were a lot of dogs off leads, not acted upon.  The area was a let down. Park only came alive at weekends. Beach good with life guards

Nice location

A real good location for cycling along the coast and Pembrey park. Note that with the cycling being the main attraction, a lot of the kiddies do cycle around the site and can be a bit noisy. The site is relatively new, but only has 8 showers for the whole campsite. Does need another shower/toilet block or build / introduce super pitches to the site. The wardens were very friendly and made you feel welcome upon arrival.. There are few suppliers that come on site (ice cream van etc) but do recommend the bakery van. The bread and cakes are lovely and reasonably price. The milk man who also comes in the morning is a bit pricey (£2 for 4 litre). Overall, lovely site and a great location.

Worst holiday in years

Very disappointed in this site. Booked for 2 weeks and left after 1.  The 1st night we arrived there was loud music coming from the country part, which was annoying (not the caravans clubs fault) A couple of families had taken over the area we were staying, so it was very noisy.  The laundry facilities were run down and there wasn't enough machines for the size of the site.  The facilities were dirty (probably due to the number of grass pitches) Pembrey Country Park is great, but you need bikes to fully enjoy it. There is a cost of you want to take your car in.  Apart from the country park, the area seriously lacked anything to do. The nearest decent town was a 45 minutes drive.  Now enjoying Freshwater East for the 2nd week.

Not Good

This was not a very good week at this caravan club site. The toilet facilities or lack off, not enough for size of site were not the cleanest also people queing for showers never before, children allowed to run around peoples pitches and ride bikes around the toilet blocks many of the club rules were not upheld by the wardens who were not very helpful, the nearby country park is nice and grassy and is great for the dog walkers and children. The beach was very nice. Overall this was not a good experience we will not be returning to this site.
