August 2016

Friendly and helpful check in, site was going to be full , bank holiday weekend, site was spaced out some pitches seemed a bit close , but that depended are u were on site mainly the grass pitches , wardens very friendly and helpful , shop on site ok, milk man and bakery van would come on site Shower /toilet block was clean and tidy , but could do with a refurd and possibly making bigger for the size of the site. 5 mins walk and your in the heart of the country park , beach maybe 15-20 mins walk , lovely beach and many more along the coast , my daughter went to the horse riding school which she loved .only. Lots of kids around but not overly noisy.

Excellent

First visit to this site in September - and it won't be the last. As well as being within walking distance (it took us about 15 minutes !) to the beach, the site is in a superb location to be able to explore South Wales - a visit to Pembroke Castle is a must. Tenby should also be on your 'must see' list. The Wardens keep the site and the facilities up to the usual high club standards. The only negative is that there are only 4 shower cubicles in the male shower block so queuing may be encountered (although it wasn't for the week that we visited).

Been going for 22 years

My family, friends and myself have been stayed at this campsite every summer for the last 22 years (and several times in between) and we have seen it go through many changes, physical and structural. It is a good size site that offers hard standing or grass. With it's free walking access to the beautiful country park it is an attractive and popular site for families and dog owners. Therefore if you don't like the noise of children playing and dogs meeting, common sense would dictate to avoid the site during school holidays. If you have kids they'll have made friends before you've finished setting up! A handy trick of the trade for the showers - If you find yourself cueing for a shower at peak times in the bigger toilet block, just remember there is a second block with showers in and there is almost always no cue and two free showers, even when there might be 4/5 people waiting in the bigger block. The country park is currently at its most basic that I've ever known it but don't let this put you off as it still has vast beaches and beautiful woodland walks to fill your days. It has just received a grant for revamping so should be full of additional services in the next few years. I've seen a fair few wardens run this site in 22years and the Wardens currently running the site are fabulous. A really down to Earth couple who are flexible and realistic to the needs of the visitors and always go the extra mile to please. They have the right personalities to run a family site and the emotional and social intelligence to be able to enforce health and safety (amongst other site rules) without coming over dictator-ish or aggressive (as I have seen this many times in the past). For rainy days it is close to the lovely Welsh towns of Kidwelly and Carmarthen where you can fill your days with castles/shopping/good food. It is a beautiful place and I hope you fall in love with it.

This is a very well kept, and clean site. The wardens are extremely helpful and hard-working. This was our second stay. We will be back!

Best site

We have stayed her twice now and it is our favourite club site yet. My parents also feel the same. Fantastic large pitches with space around them for relaxing and children to play. A lovely mix of families and couples enjoying the beautiful scenery and top notch facilities . Play park is brilliant for the children and the children that have been here while we have been there are well behaved and friendly. I love the van that comes in the morning selling milk and fresh orange and also the other bakery can selling bread and fresh cakes!! Penbrey park is amazing and great for dog walking and cycling adventures , the beach is beautiful and allows dogs. The taboggann and dry ski slope it's a real laugh and there is golf and a large children's play park and pony trecking. Love love love this site

Brilliant site, loads to do!

We spent a week here in August with our 2 children aged 5 and 8. There was loads to do - we did tobogganing, horse riding, went to Pembrey beach, visited Burry Port, and went further afield too. The site is really well kept and the wardens are very friendly. One warden spent about an hour helping my husband fix our caravan lights (thank you!). There are plenty of toilets and showers - we never had to queue. We particularly loved the milkman, baker and ice cream van visiting every day! If I was going to be really picky I would say a few more things in the children's play area would be good, and more powerful showers - but as I said that's being really picky and the only things I can thing of to suggest as improvements! Some reviewers have mentioned the charge to go into the country park - it would be nice if there was a reduced cost, but if you're going to the beach all day then £5 entry seems fine as you'd pay this for parking at another beach. Thanks to the wardens for keeping this such a lovely site!

Nice friendly staff, but not enough of them

Stayed here for a few days, very busy of course as it was August and school holidays. Staff were very good and friendly, but clearly over stretched. We suspect its due to cutbacks in many levels by the caravan club. Toilets and showers just too few for the numbers of people, although kept clean by hard working wardens. A few grass pitches not fit for purpose and should have been taken out of use. At over £30 per night I think members deserve better. On a broader issue the Club membership is, it seems, in decline and you really do have to get your act together to reverse the trend, otherwise we and few others we know will not re join, which is a shame. A magazine of 80% adverts and not so cheap van insurance is not enough.

Lovely site

Just returned from a lovely week exploring the area. Site was immaculately clean great washing and showering facilities. It was great for the kids who made lots of friends and is very family orientated. Wardens couldn't of been more helpful. Pitches are very generous we have quite a long unit which fitted on easy.
