Really good site, ideal for walking and cycling - 5*

My wife and I visit Pembrey Park every year and have never failed to have a great time. It's a very friendly site with helpful wardens. The country park is right next door and is flat with good roads and trails including the Millennium Cycle Route - a superb ride along the coast. Walk through the park and within a mile you arrive at the most wonderful sandy beach which always seems to be quiet. A welcome addition is the newsagent who calls every day between 0900 - 0930hrs with a good selection of papers plus milk and juices. This is in addition to the baker's van who has a great selection of food. If that isn't enough for you Llanelli is about 7 miles away with all the shops you'll need! Thoroughly recommended.

Great Place to Stay

Permbrey is only 50 miles from our home, we stayed for 4 nights with our daughter and son in law and our beautiful grandchildren in two caravans. We use this site a lot because of the location and facilities and closeness to the country park. It is a delight to stay at this site, good pitches, clean and tidy facilities and great staff to ensure that your stay is as expected off meeting the clues standards. We felt there was a massive speeding issue with this site, with motorhome users being the main culprits, this site is magnificent for families and children, please allow them to play safe at all times and grow up without being threatened by speed. I would recommend this site highly for all types of caravaners.

Very nice site

We stayed here for 4 nights in our motorhome in early October. The site was not very busy when we arrived so it was no problem to find a level pitch in a nice position. The wardens do an excellent job of maintaining the site, and keep everything very clean and tidy. They were also very helpful with local information. There are excellent (and easy) cycling/walking routes within Pembrey Country Park, and along the coastal cycle route. The Sustrans route to the east of the site leads to Llanelli (and beyond) links with another route up into the hills. This is worth doing. Also worthwhile is a visit to Kidwelly Castle. This is ~7 miles west of the site, and was an easy ride . . . . although the route was not always very clearly signed for cyclists, and there were a lot of bulls and their calling cards along the paths through the fields. All in all a very nice site in a lovely location :-)

Lovely site especially off season

This was our fourth stay at this site and the wardens were friendly and welcoming as always. While all our previous stays had been during school holidays when this site can get very busy this was our first stay off season. It was really lovely and quiet with the beach and country park being virtually deserted. The cycle ride into Llanelli was as enjoyable as ever if a bit wetter and windier! This remains one of our favourite sites and one that we will certainly return to!

Great stay

We stayed for 5 nights in mid-September 2017. The site is in a wonderful location, on the edge of Pembrey country park. A 15 minute stroll takes you to a lovely beach. The wardens were very friendly, toilet block up to the usual high standards expected on a club site. There is a play area for children and a gate in the corner of the site takes you on to the road through the country park which leads to the beach. Llanelli is a town about 5 miles away with a large Asda supermarket. Burry port is a small village nearby with a couple of pubs. We travelled to the gower peninsula and some of its lovely beaches, we also visited Tenby and Saundersfoot. We highly recommend this site, if you have dogs it is perfectly located for walking them on the beach.

Another fabulous holiday ....

This is the third time we've visited this site, albeit over a 6 year timescale, so have visited with children from 9 months to 13 years old and it caters for all .... we love it! Great location, although slightly isolated from a decent shop, but having the paper man and bread man visiting makes it much easier if you suddently run short of the basics! Cannot fault the facilities, lovely and clean, well maintained and 'hot hot hot' water .. bliss! Speeding from cars is not too much of a problem on this site, but unfortunately the same cannot be said for the cyclists, we could not allow our 6 year old to cycle safely on the site road after about 5pm, as it then became a race track and was very unsafe. That was the only downside for us during our entire 3 week stay. Some reviews have mentioned the slightly old playground, does it matter?, it's somewhere to have fun and make friends and our two boys spent more time in the den behind the playground than in it! If you want a great chippy, head to Burry Port, the most amazing grub and huge portions, so order carefully! The wardens are once again AMAZING!!!!! .. friendly, helpful and welcoming - a credit to the club, well done .. you are AWESOME!!! Would definately recommend this site and will most definately be back !

Good site in lovely area

I enjoyed a five night stay at Pembrey in early July; the site is bigger than I had expected and some of the grass pitches looked to me a bit random and in one or two places somewhat close to hard standings. I began by choosing pitch 52 but finding a grass pitched van closer than the plan would suggest it should have been, and finding the outlook to be nothing better than a large and rather boring hedge, I decided it was a bad choice. There was surprisingly few hard standings available, given that it was still only about 12:30 on a Friday, but nevertheless I found a much better pitch with a lovely open aspect. On reading the forums one often sees the comment that it makes no difference what pitch you are on! This is palpable nonsense. It is often the difference between an enjoyable stay and a rotten one! Having explored the site and the surroundings, I decided I really liked it here. The wardens that I met were friendly and helpful, the site is well designed and the hard standings in the situation where I had settled looked quite new and the road recently resurfaced. The loo block was excellent. Those who complain about regimented sites should like this place. The location is lovely too being a nice walk to the huge beach through the country park. For motorhomers like myself, who like to stay put once pitched, it is easy to reach Burry Port on a cycle along the very flat coastal path. From here one can catch trains to all the Welsh towns on the south coast east and west. It is a 20 minute walk from the site to the nearest bus. I met up with friends who live not far from the site in the lovely estuary village of Ferryside. I am not sure I would have come this far into west Wales otherwise but I am very glad I did. The countryside is lovely, the site a delight (if a little busy), and all in all I found this a very good place to be.

Wonderful place

We have just come home from a 10 day stay here and this is a wonderful site. We have twins who are 5 and there was plenty for them to do with either the insite park or cycling. Tv reception was ok but you had to use your own Ariel from your caravan as no sockets in the EHC, more showers are needed as not that many. Pitches were nicely layed out and plenty of room around them. Nature trail/explore for children which was fun looking for pictured animals. Wardens were all lovely and friendly and very helpful. Next door you have a country park which we cycled into as it's free, you only get charged if you take your car in. There is dry ski slopes, toboggan, horse riding, minature railway which runs on weekends, a gorgeous beach which stretched for miles and a part for dogs as well. Lots of BBQ areas and Crazy golf/golf, info area and cafe. There is also 2 massive play park areas next the the minature railway with picnic area which our twins were fully entertained for hours. All attractions were not that expensive to do. We would defo return as found lots to do within a 5 minute cycle. Kids were thoroughly entertained.

Description is misleading

We booked here for 6 nights, 4 would probably have been enough. We booked here as it was one of the top sites recommended for under 5's, with a 2 yo and a 3yo this was the main appeal. Unfortunately I would not recommend this site for little ones. The play equipment on site is old and not entertaining for little ones. My girls would normally spend hours in a park but were bored within 5 minutes. They love their bikes and scooters but there are so many bigs kids whizzing round and the pitches are tightly packed in places making it not possible to see them. The washrooms do not have enough showers. Only 6 for each leading to cues every morning. The shop is small and over priced (pack of wipes cost £2.25 compared to 60p in a supermarket!!!) The site is on the edge on the country park but it cost £5 to drive in. All of the features such as horse riding, ski slope and adventure play area are actually in the country park, not on the site. Overall very disappointing.

Fabulous location, lovely wardens, extra showers needed

Fabulous location right beside a country park. Great walks on the doorstep, vast sandy beach (with lifeguards) a mile away. Also a great pitch and putt a mile away and crazy golf also. Played golf with our children several times and had such a laugh. Take bikes, we didn't and we regretted it. Lovely site set in copse type areas for the grass pitches, the hard standings are a bit more regimented. It's fast draining soil so even when it rained it dried really quickly. We loved the woodlike feel and that meant we didn't feel on top of 'the neighbours'. It's a busy site, but still peaceful and quiet enough to fall asleep on our loungers one afternoon!! And even our children slept in every morning! The wardens were superb, really friendly especially with our children. Lovely, fresh local eggs for sale in the shop, also burgers for the bbq. The shower block is too small for the number of people trying to use it, especially as it's so close to the beach. There was often a queue. Only 4 showers in the ladies, and an extra2 in the annexe shower block, so 6 for the ladies, which wasn't enough. Another shower block would make the site perfect.
