Pembrey

Wa booked for 2 nights in December. The welcome was very friendly, the site very quiet at that time. The facilities were very clean. We had a lovely 4 hour walk from the site through the woods and back along the beach. The beach is miles of sand! Will definitely visit again

Lovely stay at a quiet time of year

We stayed here for four days 26 - 29 November & there were just a few others on site too. This made for a fabulous quiet time despite the weather being a bit inclement. We took our dog, who thoroughly enjoyed the local walks as did we. The wardens are absolutley lovely & so very helpful too. We will definitely return during quiet non school holiday times as can imagine it to be a very busy site during these times. A very small point was the water pressure was a little slow at times in the shower blocks but this did not detract from a superb location & site.

Relaxing stay

We stay at this site alot as the location and wardens are excellent. However beware of a sneaky fox who has a shoe fettish! if anyone finds a left ahd airwalk trainer can you let the club know as I caught him 'red pawed' in my awning, but he managed to escape ... Many thanks.

Half term break

We had a lovely stay at Pembrey during October half term with our kids. It was our first use for our new caravan And this site made it a brilliant first time out. Good facilities for the caravan services. A lovely little park for the kids to play in and excellent access to the country park. We went on several cycles around the forest and along the cycle path which is extensive and well maintained. My only small criticism is there is no easy cycle access from the site onto the cycle path. Nothing major just means crossing the road and getting across a field of grass. I’m sure this is something which could be improved upon over time. Overall we had a lovely stay and I’m sure we will return at some point.

Beautiful location

We love this site! The wardens are lovely and the peace and quiet (in September that is) is fantastic and perfect for our 2 wonderful dogs who love it there. The only negative point for us is the shower block, it really is in need of an update and definatley some more showers. I found the pressure very poor and they were old and rusty, so a definate spruce up and replacement is definaltley required as they do not reflect the rest of the site.

Fabulous four days at Pembrey

We stayed at Pembrey from 5-8th October 2018 - deliberately leaving our visit until the school holidays were over, and had a wonderful time. We had a 'super' pitch which was quiet and found the facilities to be spotlessly clean (as always on Club Sites). Because we were there out of high season our two dogs were allowed on ALL areas of the beach and they had a great time despite some immense jellyfish which had been washed up onto the sand. We followed many of the marked trails around the Park and the Forest and, despite a Mountain Biking Event which was held over the weekend we felt as though we had almost the entire place to ourselves. We will return to this first class Club Site.

Refurbished? Then they forgot the toilet block.

I found this site a real mixed bag, after spending a week there earlier this month (Sept 18). Positives were; Its proximity to the beach via a hard path through the park (15+minutes walk for the able bodied). A number of average interest easy flat walks with no stiles or gates, suitable for wheelchairs/pushchairs direct from the site (to Bury Port or around the Country park). Relatively quiet when the kids went back to school. A really friendly, helpful group of wardens. Site well-kept, toilet block aside (but recently refurbished?). Reasonable nature-watching nearby. Negatives were, and in no particular order; Totally uncontrolled kids riding bikes ridiculously fast around the site. The usual inconsiderate members with TV's and radios so loud that reading outside became a challenge and on one evening, trying to read inside too! A tired and well-worn toilet block with only four shower cubicles in the mens, where it closed from 10:30am for cleaning, resulting in multiple visits on some mornings to get a shower before it closed. The slowest water flow on the water points that I've ever encountered. Beach access for dog owners meant negotiating steep climbs through sand or sand/sandy steps. Not suitable for those with limited mobility. Did I enjoy my stay? Generally,Yes. Would I recommend it? Read my points above and decide for yourself.

Great for families, not serious walkers.

Just returned from a fortnight spent at Pembrey -one family, 3 vans, 3 kids and 2 dogs included. Great location for families, loved seeing all the kids out enjoying themselves til late - just as it should be. We did however have one near miss with one group of kids on bikes which nearly rode into the front of our car as they went the wrong way round the road. Fortunately I was going very slowly but there are still some that don't-admittedly marginally less on this site than we have witnessed on others. Can I suggest that the club adopts a "First Gear Only" campaign as I'm sure many just don't realise that as soon as you change into 2nd it is likely you will be going above 10mph, let alone 5? Anyway back to the site, park next door and the beach at the end great for kids of all ages (!) and plenty of provision for cyclists from what we could see. However the walking in the area not quite so good with local footpaths away from the park/forest badly overgrown to the point of being almost impassable. Had to travel some distance to find anything reasonable. We'd come again for a week with the family but not another extended stay when the older members like to roam on foot.

Forgot to mention !

I should have added to my previous review - While staying at Pembrey one of my taps decided to pour water from beneath the tap as well as through the normal spout ! On the recommendation of the site staff I contacted Trevor, at 'Leisure Medic'. He explained that he was very busy and could not get to me for a few days, but finally did attend late on Friday afternoon. Cutting a long story short, he was unable to help (though he carried 2/3 taps he didn't have one suitable) and was most apologetic. I expected at least a 'call out' charge, but no, Trevor explained, 'if I cant help, there's no charge' ! If you are in the area and need help I would thoroughly recommend Leisure Medic - Trevor was very professional, clean and tidy and a very nice guy !!

Tired perhaps, but clean !

Just spent a good 10 day break at Pembrey, and as others have said, perhaps the facilities are a little tired, and the water pressure at the showers could be better, but we found them spotlessly clean at all times, with plentiful hot water. The wardens obviously work hard keeping the site up together and should be congratulated ! On the weekend of our arrival the site was totally full, with many adults and children buzzing around on cycles, but I saw no real problems, and as it was the weekend seeing the start of the Round Britain Cycle Race, it was to be expected. Monday onward, children back at school so it became peaceful. Glad we arrived in time to see the start of the race ! The only thing I would query is the stated 'earliest arrival time' - I saw folk arriving at 1100 am and checking in - have the times been altered ??
