Just came back from spending Christmas week at this site, as we had never seen it in the winter. What a wonderful week we had and I have already booked to go again next year.
If you have dogs, this site is simply the best on the network for walks in both Summer and Winter, not a dirty paw all week!!.
I agree that the toilet blocks need updating, but I will forgive this as I love this site so much.
Peaceful
Spent a blustery but beautifully peaceful long weekend here to finish a piece of writing. So quiet and inspiring.
Lovely walks, spotless showers, friendly welcoming wardens.
I’ve been before both when the site is totally full and when like last weekend quiet. Will be back again perfect place to recharge.
Getting tired and scruffy
This is without doubt my favourite site ~ why? Access to an amazing Country Park, a splendid beach and a wealth of places to visit if the mood takes you.
I have visiting this site for almost 30 years, it was much smaller back then but still had the wonderful park, beach and surroundings. It has grown considerably over the years and with the addition of the Millennium Coast Path it gained the attraction of a footpath / cycle path to satisfy most needs and with the cycle path progressing further Eastward each year it becomes more attractive. Last year saw the opening of the Welsh Road Cycling circuit almost adjacent to the Club site and venue use for Road Running events too.
Sadly now, I see the gents toilets (can't comment on the ladies obviously) looking tired and in need of a refurb, badly fitting toilet seats, cracked tiles in the showers and poor showers. The number pad door locks stay stuck open - so not secure, they are so high on the door children cannot reach them. The smaller back-up facility is looking old but is in better condition. The pitches are very scruffy weeds and grass pop up everywhere and pitch edges are overgrown, the Wardens are smashing so I have no idea if this is policy or too much work to cover??? When Terry and Will looked after the site discipline was strict but just - be 12" off the peg and Terry would have you re-pitch - even if you had the awning up (too strict). Both Terry & Will kept the pitches pristine spraying with weed-killer when the site was quiet.
The outside dish washing area is shabby but does get abused with many members leaving it dirty, inside facilities are good but again some members are not respectful to fellow members and do not leave sinks clean and tidy.
Last comment from a fellow member at the water point filling his aqua roll ~ I asked if he'd had a good time his reply "The water points OK, pressure is so low all I've done in 3 days is fill one barrel" He was right water pressure is very low, but less waste if you overfill.
YES, IT HAS FAULTS BUT IT'S STILL MY FAVOURITE SITE AND I'LL KEP GOING THERE.
A lovely site for summer holidays
We spent two weeks at Pembrey during the school holidays on a hard standing pitch and had a great time. The staff were both welcoming and friendly, great with the kids doing Tourer Exploring trails. The campsite is kept clean and tidy. The facilities are a little dated, and I would agree with previous comment about narrow shelf in showers and limited hooks. Although there was only one shower block, we did not once queue in two weeks. Excellent location for cycling/ walking, 5 minutes you are in country park next door, we loved the toboggan ride (3 for £5), miniature train ride, adventure park and girls went horse riding. Would recommend to anyone visiting this area of Wales.
Family holiday
this site was further than we wanted to travel for a long weekend break but it was definitely worth while , the welcome was enthusiastic and warm and the site was very family friendly with the benefit of the country park on the doorstep with its beautiful beach for walks and of course a paddle , the site would possibly benefit from a further toilet / shower block for busy times but overall a well kept site with very friendly staff and we would have no hesitation in visiting again hopefully for a longer break next time

Brilliant site suitable for all ages
This was our first stay at Pembrey and won't be our last. On arrival both adults and children felt they had a fantastic welcome. Plenty for the children to do to occupy themselves on site and also in the country park next door. Tourer Explorer Activities and rewards were brilliant. Grandchildren loved the play area, exploring in the hedges and trees that break up the site and the freedom to cycle around. No problem with shower/toilet blocks use, as we could access the smaller facilities when the large ones were being cleaned and vice versa. Pitches were a generous size. We felt that on the whole it was a quiet peaceful site even when full over the bank holiday. Lovely team of wardens here. Occasional fly past of fighter jets and chinooks whilst we were there, but not daily. The Country Park next door has plenty of places to cycle, a beautiful beach, big children play park, small train ride at weekends, ski slope/toboggan run and tubing. We found it a bit far with the little ones to walk to these, so either used the car (bought a one week parking ticket from visitors centre) or cycled.
Good, could be even better
This is a lovely site, the reception area with many hanging baskets gives a wonderful first impression and as we always find with the CAMC, the wardens give a very warm welcome.
Pembrey has many grass pitches as well as a good compliment of hard standing. The site is sectioned into areas separated by trees, and has a pleasant aspect with a feeling of spaciousness per pitch. The site is served with a good number of service points, which are needed as their water pressure is low and filling aqua rolls takes a while. They have a dog wash but the low water pressure means you'll be there a while if your pooch finds a muddy bog in the woods!
There's only one shower block, I felt this would be insufficient for the amount of pitches but actually this seemed ok with no queues during our stay, but not sure if it would cope over busy weekends though. 6 cubicles to serve a fairly large site isn't great . I felt the showers weren't as good as other CAMC sites we've been to, not enough hooks and the shelves were very narrow so it's a struggle to keep shower bags and clothes from falling on the floor. Also the fittings are a bit dated, perhaps a refit is due?
We stayed in August, our pitch was quite windy ( no beans taken, but the area is subject to prevailing SW winds) and our canopy has been blown about throughout our stay. I'd recommend storm straps for awnings during the winter.
This is on the edge of Pembrey country park, with plenty of walks and activities including a nice clean beach within near reach, and is at is a good location for visiting tourist locations such as Tenby and the Mumbles.
I recommend Pembrey and would return here, and with a couple of ' tweeks' in the shower block this wil be a fabulous site
Facilities closed too early
Lovely place but the facilities are closed early at 10.00 and we, several other disgruntled people think it’s at their convenience and not the paying guests.

Abbey loved it
Our Daughter Abbey had the best time ever, playing in the park, meeting new friends, days on the beach and just being on the site.
The wardens were really friendly, the reception was in glorious colour and milk and bread deliveries were fantastic each morning.
One of best.
Great site
A great location near Pembrey County Park & the beach. We cycled along the coast to Bury Port, a lovely little place. A great site for families.
