My cousin has visited this place many times, and he only lives 12.5miles away, so I knew it had to be good. And it certainly is.
Fabulously dog friendly, with dog waste bins dotted around the site and a dog shower and best of all, for no extra charges. The site itself is immaculate, and well laid out so in spite there being over 100 pitches, it doesn’t look regimented, and at this time of year you can pick your pitch. The grounds are wonderfully kept, neat and tidy. And all you can hear is birdsong, so it’s not only beautiful but very peaceful as well.
Had a lovely friendly welcome at check in, and the Reception doubles up as a shop, albeit very small, selling only the basics. The site itself is just before the entrance to Pembrey Country Park, which also has a municipal camp site on it. At the front of the Country Park is a cafe, but it was closed on my first visit.
Back to the Caravan Club site, the showers are very clean, and warm, but the showers are not that powerful. They also have curtains separating the wet and dry side, which are usually my pet peeve but these were very clean or new and did stop the water going over my things. There is a shelf in the ‘dry’ cubicle, but it really is a shelf, so you can’t put clothes on there but there are a few hooks on the back of the door.
There looks to be lots of things to do near by, but as it’s just me and the dog, we don’t want to go looking around. But if you do then just a walk away is Pembrey Riding Centre practically next door, the Country Park just after and the beach being the furthest away at just over a kilometre . As for us we just want lots of fresh air, walks and the peace and solitude of this fantastic campsite.
Given the prices here, I can imagine it gets very busy during the school holidays, and there is a newly built park area for the younger children.
This is a great place for dog owners or for those just seeking the peace and solitude to read contemplate life, love and the universe.
