Great family site

Stayed here for three nights in June at the start of a seventeen night tour of Wales. Stayed on a fully serviced pitch which was excellent but on as picturesque as some of the grass pitches. Good facilities, friendly wardens and situated right next door to a wonderful country park which adjoins a stunning beaches. Just wished we had been there the following week when an RAF HERCULES did a night landing and take off.

All round top site

A really well managed, clean site with an excellent team. Have to mention their beautifully kept flowers around reception. The Country Park is a fantastic space for families and the beach is beautiful and full of interest for beachcombers! We are golfers and the golf courses within easy reach, Ashburnham the closest and Glyn Abbey not much further away, are both great courses and very different from each other in character. Plenty of interesting walks around both in the Country Park and beyond. Definitely a site that would stand up to return visits.

Great site

The site is on the edge of Pembrey Country Park which is wonderful with a wild and undeveloped feel. Amazing beach with views across to The Gower. The is a lot of history in the area from when it was a Royal Ordnance Factory site. Lots of walking and cycling trails. The Millennium Coastal Path from Pembrey to Llanelli (13 miles) takes you along the estuary with brilliant views and so peaceful (mostly flat and a few café stops). You pass a shrine to Stradey Park with the original rugby posts complete with saucepans. We also visited The National Botanical Garden of Wales, Dylan Thomas's birthplace and the Amelia Earhart Monument - all very interesting. The newly opened The Ship Aground Inn in Pembrey serves very good ales and lagers with very good pub food. Don't miss Daisy's Little Coffee Shop at the entrance to the Park - wonderful breakfasts and giant home made cakes - lovely staff. The web site shows the TV reception is poor and it is. No aerial points even on the serviced pitch bollards.

Fabulous Site.

The site itself is wonderful. Peaceful and well maintained, with a very helpfulwarden team. The site is large and broken up by mature trees so doesn’t feel like a massive site. The park itself felt very run down and unloved to us, but through it there is access to miles of flat beach which would be ideal for children.

Great Site

A lovely site on level ground. Staff very friendly and helpful. A great base to visit the local area. Fantastic local beaches - great for cycling on - when the tide has gone out, of course. Would use again, no hestitation.

Excellent for cycling

Clean facilities, a bit pricey compared with the country parks own site. Peace and quiet interuppted by dogs. One couple had 8 dogs!! Some were puppies but think the club ought to limited numbers. Nice cycle ride to Llanelli on wide paths.

Last minute booking and so glad we did!

Booked in here at the last minute as we'd been let down by a booking elsewhere (non CMC site) and so glad that this happened. Great site, plenty of space and good facilities. The grass pitches are fantastic - lots with shade and adjacent to woodland / parkland. Great walks straight from site into the country park, although the beach is a bit of a hike away (over a mile), but well worth the effort as it's miles and miles of virtually empty fine sand. Facilities a bit dated, but very clean (great site staff). We'll definitely be adding this to our 'visit regularly' list. One thing you don't see at many sites are the daily visits by a baker's van and someone selling newspapers etc. They drive around the site 'tooting' occasionally. A great addition.

A gem of a site

First visit to Pembrey and certainly not the last. A lovely peaceful site with access to lovely walks, bike rides and the beach. The site is kept immaculate by a lovely team of wardens who always have time for a chat and some advice. The facilities though dated are very clean, the shop stocks the essentials and 2 vans tour the site each morning selling papers, milk, bread and cakes, these guys are really friendly and toot their horn as they are going around to warn you they are on the way. The site has easy access to Llanelli and Carmarthen also the Botanical Gardens of Wales are well worth a visit. The only point I’d like to make is that I wish the toilet block could be cleaned later in the afternoon, as seems to be happening in other sites.

Dog Walking Heaven

My cousin has visited this place many times, and he only lives 12.5miles away, so I knew it had to be good. And it certainly is. Fabulously dog friendly, with dog waste bins dotted around the site and a dog shower and best of all, for no extra charges. The site itself is immaculate, and well laid out so in spite there being over 100 pitches, it doesn’t look regimented, and at this time of year you can pick your pitch. The grounds are wonderfully kept, neat and tidy. And all you can hear is birdsong, so it’s not only beautiful but very peaceful as well. Had a lovely friendly welcome at check in, and the Reception doubles up as a shop, albeit very small, selling only the basics. The site itself is just before the entrance to Pembrey Country Park, which also has a municipal camp site on it. At the front of the Country Park is a cafe, but it was closed on my first visit. Back to the Caravan Club site, the showers are very clean, and warm, but the showers are not that powerful. They also have curtains separating the wet and dry side, which are usually my pet peeve but these were very clean or new and did stop the water going over my things. There is a shelf in the ‘dry’ cubicle, but it really is a shelf, so you can’t put clothes on there but there are a few hooks on the back of the door. There looks to be lots of things to do near by, but as it’s just me and the dog, we don’t want to go looking around. But if you do then just a walk away is Pembrey Riding Centre practically next door, the Country Park just after and the beach being the furthest away at just over a kilometre . As for us we just want lots of fresh air, walks and the peace and solitude of this fantastic campsite. Given the prices here, I can imagine it gets very busy during the school holidays, and there is a newly built park area for the younger children. This is a great place for dog owners or for those just seeking the peace and solitude to read contemplate life, love and the universe.

This site is lovely. Stunning. The shower blocks are always lovely and warm. Please don’t update them like you have at Freshwater East. The staff are friendly and helpful.
