Our second visit to this site and the welcome this time was warmer than last time. It is a lovely site about 10 miles from Whitby town but there are no bus routes nearby. We used the new Park and ride which has a space specifically for motorhomes and this worked well. £2:30 return by bus into the town running every 15 minutes. The site is quiet and spacious. small playground for kids but room for them to ride their bikes. No facilities so you will need washing and loo facilities in your "van". We enjoyed our 2 days there.
Peaceful stay
We stayed at this site the first two weeks in August and were more than happy with the site which was kept in immaculate condition by the hard working wardens. There are lovely walks from the site although Falling Foss was a disappointment, probably due to lack of rainfall.
There is good cycling in the area too and Whitby Abbey on a beautiful summers day was gorgeous. Â Whitby itself wasn't for us as it was too busy with loads of people making the best of the fish and chips which I understand are the very best.Â
I've made comment on other reviews about the speed of cars/motor homes on sites, and on the particular site the wardens seem to be making a particular effort to address the problem by stopping drivers and pointing out the speed limit of 5mph. On arrival they make a point of reiterating the speed limit too so how anyone can be unaware of the limit is beyond me! One warden did ask us if we had any suggestions to combat the problem as she was exasperated by people's ignorance. This has to stop before a child is badly hurt or worse!

Quite Peaceful Site
Lovely site Took the grandchild for 3 days absolutely loved it, riding his bike and playing crazy golf. Lots to do round and about, will be coming back.
Total Relaxation
This site is just fabulous. The wardens are lovely people and so helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. There is no toilet block, that did not matter to us as we have our own facilities. It is really a beautiful part of the UK and the moors are spectacular. The site is kept in pristine condition and nothing is out of place. Although a large site it does not feel so as the pitches are well spaced out and loads of room with many cul-de-sacs which gives it a smaller site feel. Just wish it was open over the Christmas period as we would definitely go then, but, we will be back at some point, definitely one to remember, close to Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay. We were there at Regatta time and that was good. Thank you to the Wardens for making our stay so good. x

Great Site for a quiet break and base for the North Yorks Moors
Lovely Site with beautiful surroundings.
A few miles out of Whitby a great place to get away from the hustle of the town off on the beaten track, ideal base if you want good walks and to visit anything on the North Yorks Moors.
No Toilet block although it was not an issue for us, This does put off some people with children which is why the site is so quiet.
Friendly wardens and site well tendered.
relaxing break
What a fantastic site, very well kept and ran.the wardens were brilliant, friendly and helpful and if you stay at the site you must visit the falling foss tea rooms, what a place,we had a fantastic break here, you have got to try this site!
Two constructive concerns.
Been here several times and site in good condition on this visit well done to the current wardens. The two concerns are the mini golf and boules court need attention with new ground coverings being required.

North Yorks Moors
Although this is quite a large site it didn't feel like it. There's plenty to see and do in the area, including plenty of coastal walks.
The Friday night Fish and Chip van was among the best we've ever tasted.
Back to normal
We have been coming to this site for 8 years and have been here over 10 times. It is great to see that it is back to its former glory, well done to both the wardens as well as the volunteer wardens. We feel this is one of the best sites on the network even though there is no shower block, who needs one with on board facilities? Excellent site in a fantastic area.
Favourites Site
This is one of our firm favourite sites to which we return on a regular basis. The location is ideal for Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and Runswick Bay. There are walks from the site around Falling Foss.
The site is generally peaceful being well away from the road and it is well laid out with a combination of grass and hard-standing pitches.
I'd like to personally thank the warden for his help to fix and replace our failed gas regulator on this last trip. - Highly recommended site.
