So relaxing

A beautifully kept quiet and peaceful site. Well laid out. Having no washroom/toilet facilities keeps it quiet and peaceful. TV reception with the standard fitted roof aerial was excellent. The wardens are friendly and helpful, even adding a very nice touch of posting birthday and anniversary messages on the blackboard outside the office (providing you let them know). We had a wonderful week on the site including the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Peaceful and relaxing

Stayed here for the August Bank holiday and although the site was full found it be to be extremely quiet and peaceful. Wardens are very friendly, helpful and keep the site lovely. Most of the pitches are hardstanding and spacious but there are a few grass if you prefer. We stayed on pitch 34 which is located in a sunny area and has a large grass area behind it and is great if you have dog. The site is ideally situated for Whitby, Robins Hood Bay, Ravenscar and Scarborough. Overall a fantastic site if you are looking for a relaxing break.

Great Site

Very surprised how spacious & well laid out this site is, we used the Whitby park & ride excellent service. Recommend the NYM train & coast path between Robin Hoods Bay & Whitby, very enjoyable 7 night stay.

Grandchildren loved it.

This is a lovely site. The wardens were very friendly and welcoming, advising us where the best pitches were for the sun all day, also told us about the park and ride, as we have a motorhome. We did go into Whitby a 10 - 15 minute drive but we parked behind The Abbey, it cost us £5.50 for 6 hours and we knew we would be able to fit the motorhome in the spaces. The Grandchildren loved the site, we played ' Boules' on the specially made gravel area, we played golf, I agree that it is a bit worse for wear, but the kids enjoyed it anyway. They liked the site so much they wanted to stay longer. We will definitely be returning.

A gem of a site

My wife and I spent a few days on this site. The pitches are all mainly level and many with hardstanding. It does lack facilities but that isn't a problem if you have a modern caravan. In spite of it being the summer holidays there were not many children on the site and those that were there were well behaved. The site is an excellent base for touring the area. There is a convenient park and ride close by on the A171 so there is no problem getting into Whitby and avoiding the hassle of trying to find a car park with spaces. The wardens were friendly and welcoming and the site is kept very clean and tidy. We hadn't been to this site for some time but we will be going back.

20th visit!!

We've been coming to this site for years! Just stayed for 3 weeks with our grandchildren. The site is superb. Very clean and tidy with flower tubs everywhere. The wardens Joy and Kingsley were really good. Pitches are quite spacious. Some of the trees should be trimmed and thinned, but other than that no complaints at all. Personally we prefer the fact that there is no toilet block. Kids enjoyed the crazy golf although the equipment is a bit tired. Plenty to do around Whitby, apart from the attraction of the town itself. Try Runswick Bay, visit Goathland and Grosmont, and you must enjoy a light snack at Falling Foss tearooms.

Last minute get away

We have stayed on this site on a number of occasions. The fact it has no facilities does not deter us from going. We was lucky to be able to get onto the site at last minute. There are a lot of walks around the area. We decided to walk into Whitby, as the bus no longer is running. Care must be taken as there are no paths along the way. It is 5 miles and a pleasant walk with views of the Abbey along the way. The site is very well maintained. The wardens are very friendly indeed. Parking is a problem in Whitby, the Park and Ride is useful but not cheap if a family are travelling. We will be back in the future for definite.

Nice welcome, wardens friendly and helpful in recommending cycle trips. Pity pay and display in Whitby now, though new park and ride welcome. We'll be back in autumn hopefully for a longer stay.
