We stayed first week September. Normal, lovely, well kept club site. But nothing much to do unless you drive somewhere. The cycle & boat hire 200 yds away is no longer despite what it state in the site directory. The pub next door was ok but had the most unwelcoming landlord I have ever met!
Stayed here for 3 nights over the recent bank holiday and really enjoyed ourselves .The wardens were very friendly and extremely helpful and kept the facilities immaculate. Great location to explore this beautifull area. Will definitely return.
This is a lovely site that we generally use twice a year. It is well positioned for access to the Norfolk Broads, with easy access for the coast too. There are good walks from the site but, if you really want to see the Broads, you will need to hire a day boat from the local marina to appreciate the beauty of Broadland.
Unfortunately, on this visit, our stay was blighted by the increasing trend toward very large numbers of dogs on sites and groups of converging friends talking loudly within awnings late into the evening whilst they get drunk. What a shame that consideration for others appears an increasingly unimportant priority for some people (members, I might add - this is a members only site).
There is nothing wrong with the site. But increasingly it does appear to attract large numbers of dogs - in 2 cases this week, 6 dogs per caravan. An awful lot of barking!
What a great place to stay! We arrived without booking but were kindly found a place in an almost full site. Wardens and Assistant Wardens - brilliant folk! Friendly, helpful and efficient. Super clean site well looked after. We stayed in July and had great weather. There is so much to do around the site - great walsk, boat hire, etc. Make sure you book in advance! Thanks to wardens for super service.
Busy site, easy to find. Despite choosing the worst summer weather of the year the site was busy. Had a good visit on the nicest of our 4 day stay to the British Radar Museum, only a couple of miles away from site, which we found very interesting and accessible for disabled. We bought extra cable for TV on site but we found we did not need it on this site but went onto Sandringham where we did. Had torrential rain storm whilst here and front entrance of drive did flood on site outside wardens office and in front of our van on road, by disabled pitch, it did drain away overnight though. Break in weather enabled us to get out the van and down the road to local pub for a good meal, again disabled access. A good visit despite rain.
Second time we visited this site this year. Chose it again for excellent facilities, good pitches and helpful staff. The walk into Ludham and Womack water is down quiet country lane and only takes about 40 minutes pushing the wife's wheelchair (whoever says Norfolk is flat had better look again). This time we managed to book a boat ride on one of the Nancy Oldfield Trust boats and spent a happy couple of hours motoring up river to Barton Broad in the teeth of a thunderstorm.
The skipper on board (Gary) kept us entertained with his Broads knowledge and stories. Ludham Bridge (a few yards from the site) kept us entertained watching the efforts of the first time boat hirers attempting to moor for the night. One fly in the ointment was that I took the wife in the wheelchair to the on site disabled toilet at 9pm one night and found the floor swimming in water. I suspect that the disabled facility had been used by non disabled persons who delighted in spraying water from the shower all over the floor. It really is not fair when the carer, who has to transfer the patient from chair to toilet and back, is in danger of slipping on a wet floor.
Large and busy site. Facilities quite good but under pressure. Not most attractive setting and arrangement of caravan pitches but Broads well worth a visit. Trips to Norwich inc cathedral and surrounding villages most enjoyable. Good accessible eateries. Roy features large!
Had a nice time and would go back but not with my children as they are a little old for facilities on site. Suited for younger children mine are 11 and 14 and lack of fields and lager play area but is a great site
Stayed here last week for two nights, very peaceful, clean and well kept. The staff are as usual VERY hard working to ensure it stays in tip top and clean condition. The location is great and only a 2 mile walk from Horning or Ludham village in the other direction. The Dog Inn near the site is run down and basic as it was 8 years ago when we last visited the area, what a shame. The shops at the bridge are well stocked and not too expensive, all in all a great stop over.
This site is well maintained by one of the best teams of staff we have seen. Fastidious attention to detail. Toilet block busy but immaculate. Staff friendly, cheerful and helpful. Can't fault the place.
