Beautiful Site

Just had a wonderful week in this fab little site. Central for visiting the Broads and other attractions in the area and about a mile to walk to lovely Horning with pubs on the river and little gift shops. Ludham Bridge is a few minutes walk away with a little cafe and a gift shop and Places to fish if that rocks your boat. Back to the site, the pitches are well kept, the shower blocks spotless and look quite new, there is a small park for young children and a designated dog walk. To top that there are four friendly wardens who were very willing to give advice on where to go and even lent us an electric cable as ours was too short. This was our first time in Norfolk and it definitely won't be our last.

Short Break to Trial Run New Caravan

We visited this site for just two nights as a first run with a new (for us) caravan. It was just a 90 minute drive from our home in Woodbridge, Suffolk. We found this to be a lovely site in an excellent location just a few miles from the wonderful North Norfolk coast and very close to the Broads. Potter Heigham is maybe two miles away. There is a pub serving good "pub food" and an excellent choice of beers just 150 metres along the road from the site entrance and around the same distance in the opposite direction is Ludham Bridge, a boatyard, café, fishing tackle shop and a couple of other shops. Will stay at this site again.

Long Weekend Shakedown

We stayed here for 4 nights from 24 September. We only live 25 mins away but this is a lovely peaceful site. Having picked up our new van we came here to check it out and make sure everything was working. Great van - loving it. The site is well laid out and most pitches are large and level. Whilst some of the pitches are in a line, especially the service pitches, others are offset and we didn't find it intrusive. The facilities were immaculate at all times. Unlike the poster below we found the wardens friendly and whilst we didn't need there assistance they were pleasant at all times. There's a gentle walk to the broads with a shop which sells the basics and newspapers plus a small cafe which others said did value for money meals.

Excellent

A fabulous stay on this wonderful site in late September. We had a brilliant pitch. The wardens were all very welcoming, eager to please and very friendly. They clearly work extremely hard. The facilities were spotless and the site maintenance excellent too. Ideal location, brilliant walks and easy access to G.Yarmouth and Norwich. We will return. A big thank you to all the wardens.

I love this site.

Spent a lovely September weekend here. Very friendly welcome. The site was very full so we had to go on the grass and even after a lot of rain in the previous week the grass was not too damp. Yes it is quite dark but then it means you can glory at the amazing star display without it being ruined by light pollution. A torch is a useful thing to have as it is out in the country. There is a fantastic walk just down the road which takes you along the river towards How Hill. We did an evening walk and saw a Barn Owl and a couple of Hobbies hunting and then were mesmerised by a starling mummeration - absolutely stunning. If you're into wildlife spotting it's a real treat. We will definitely be returning.

Disappointed

We had a 17 night stay in September 2015 and despite the weather which was mixed we got out to see much of what we wanted to see in the Norfolk area. So from a location point of view it was slightly above average. Our first impression of the site was one of disappointment with the layout. Unlike some site where a considerable amount of thought end effort has gone into the layout of the site and the pitches within it, the opposite was obvious on arrival. There were no hedges or visual breaks between pitches even the most expensive fully serviced pitches. It was like being in a parking bay at the supermarket. As night set in and darkness fell it really fell on this site. The lighting was inconsistent and generally very poor. I had to walk from our pitch past 5 other pitches before I got to the first site lighting that was lit. There was 1 other between those two points but despite being reported to the wardens it remained off for the duration of our stay.  The facilities were clean and well heated, my only issue is that they close the male shower block at 10.30am for cleaning. Too early in my view and an constant inconvenience for our daily routine. Then we come to the "dog walk"?? This was a strip of land, with a walking area 4 ft wide and about 50ft long. It had a gate at one end and none at the other and was quite frankly inadequate. This was far and away the most disappointing 'dog walk' we have found on any CC site to date and was indicative of attitudes towards dogs on this site as we were to find out. Now unfortunately we come to the 'Wardens' and again, highly unusually for a CC site we found the majority of the wardens on this site to be unhappy in their work at best and down right rude to 'customers' at their worst. Maybe it was the end of a long we season, maybe their are issues between different wardens or maybe they have had a fe 'difficult' carvers in recent weeks. We have no way of knowing but then again, its not really our concern. We have paid a lot of money to spend our much needed holiday time on the site and the least we expect are Wardens who at least try to be helpful. Whilst its nice to go to sites as we have in the past where Wardens go above and beyond, thats not something we go expecting to be the norm. We do however expect a smile and a welcome and assistance when its called for. We do not expect short shrift when we seek their assistance and we most certainly object when they then come to our pitch to continue voicing their discord. All in all we rate this site at a 5 out of 10 which when you consider we normally give sites 8 or 9 out of 10 leaves you in no doubt what to expect if you go there..

And finally, be aware that this site is depending on wind direction, an approach or departure route for the Airport so there is considerable aircraft noise at varying times of the day and early morning.

Beautiful and tranquil site

Spent 3 nights here - very peaceful site in a beautiful area. Lovely walks direct from the site and the folder of walks in the Information room is very useful. Bus stop right outside site to easily get to Wroxham and Norwich etc. The limited contact we had with the wardens was always friendly and helpful. Our hardstanding pitch was clean and tidy. We will return next year for a longer stay.

Shame could have been better

Some caravaners had 6 dogs with them. With such a small dog walking area it was useless. We walked our 1 dog off site. Staff most unhappy and even miserable. Shame really.

Wonderfull will be back

We have just returned from a long weekend . Our first visit, what a wonderful surprise . although the site was full it was very quiet at night/early evenings. The dog walk is small but ok . My only complaint and this is to the caravan club not the site. We booked in March but when we arrived there were only grass pitches available , this seems a little unfair as the grass pitches were very wet and the grass uncut. There are some sites where you can book a hardstanding pitch, I think this site should be added to that list. Apart from this the site is great we will be back.
