Very quiet

We have visited this site annually since it opened, always during school holidays. We were surprised how quiet the site was with plenty of choice of pitches For cyclists, there is a Sustrans route from the site to Mudeford Quay (maps available from site office). Although not suitable for young children, older children would be fine as it is mostly flat apart from uphill coming back to site. Further afield, drive to Hengistbury Head and cycle to Bournemouth along promenade (not July or August) - recommend Urban Reef cafe at Boscombe to break up journey We drove to Keyhaven and walked to Hurst Castle (ÂŁ5 admittance for adult) which is approx 1.5 miles along beach

Gathering of the Clan

We visited this site 6th to 8th April 2018. We are 3 Brothers with entourage of various types and species. In all 13 live specimens. We have 3 different Rigs from 5th Wheeler to VW Camper. We had an excellent stay. Weather was questionable but we managed, met, forested and were merry! Facilities and Staff were excellent. The only thing, which is always an issue, is getting pitches together! All the pitches are numbered and on a Map. When we book we should be able to quote 'Other' booking refs and get Pitches reserved 'together'. As it turned out we pretty well managed the 'First come first serve' thing and got 3 pretty close togther in a triangle. However, there was an 'Other Party' in the middle of out triangle! I hope they had a good time being in the middle of 13 rushing to and fro. I just wish some 'common sense' be applied when Clans book up en-masse to have the simple ability to 'reserve some pitches' - bit like a Hotel room - cna't be rocket science can it? Anyway, great site, great location. great staff!! Thanks See you April 2019.

Lovely site

Spent 8 nights here during the artic weather, site only had about 25 outfits there so very quiet. Showers very clean as is always the case, we do love this site. Lovely friendly wardens, 4 of them we have previously met at Rookesbury in 2017. Unlike the previous review we didn't see any wardens for 2 days when there was heavy snow, it might of been because of where we were pitched. The pipes were frozen for those 2 days & I had to get hot water from the the showers about 6 times in a watering can to defrost the pipes. It is not a complaint against the wardens it was just unfortunate. We think the wardens do a marvellous job and we will definitely be back later in the year.

Short Break

We have been visiting the New Forest for nearly 30 years, and since the Centenary Park opened have used this site. Compared to the overpriced Forestry Commission site almost next door, with an extra charge to the 'friendly club', and cold shower block, this site is luxury. We arrived in a blizzard of snow, which was an experience, and found the site not overly busy with plenty of spaces to choose from. As the white blanket of snow deepened all around us over the next couple days the ever vigilant warden's were making their presence known should we need help, alarmingly wearing shorts, I understand this is personal choice not something the Club insists upon, we were ready fight their case!!...... but hay ho each to their own. The wardens sorted out frozen this and frozen that but it only last a few days and we were back to our normal green and pleasant land. Ever drawn to the forest we will be back, again and again and again......thank you wardens for all your hard work!, you made us feel safe and supported in the Arctic conditions.

Lovely New Forest

This site is in a good position for visiting the New Forest and for getting down to the coast. We stayed Monday to Friday in early October and were very fortunate with the weather. In fact, one of the days, walking at Milford, I had to apply sun cream. We have stayed on the site a few times and it continues to match expectations. You can walk or cycle into the Forest so you can leave your vehicle where it is, on the site. The wardens are friendly and helpful. They keep the site clean and tidy. It's interesting to see that the site is also expanding. My only comment would be for the grass to be cut between bookings. Whilst we were on a hardstanding pitch, the grass on either side was quite long. We will definitely return. Recommend the café at the nursery, in Bransgore, on the Burley Road.

State of site

Having spent a few days here, I would not visit again it is expensive and there is briars growing out of hedges on to the road, nettles around bollards, grass long and not cut where the ride on mower could not reach, in all a very untidy site for a site that is supposed to be a flagship site.

Best visited out of school holidays.

Lovely area, great for walking or cycling. Easy access; no worries over meeting another oncoming outfit on a narrow lane at this site. Friendly staff and spotless facilities. However as ever these days if you visit in school holidays beware, the site is usually flooded with children who don't obey the one way system and use the site roads as a race track on their bikes. Nor do they respect your pitch, several packs of small people frequently walked straight through our pitch upsetting our dogs who'd been quite content to doze quietly. We were there the day before the holidays started and the difference was marked. I dare say that if the Club monitors use of toilet rolls they notice a huge increase in demand during school holidays - most of which seems to end up on the washroom floors.

Fantastic site

Stayed here for a weekend break - fantastic location and will certainly come back again for a longer stay and with the bikes to explore further afield. Really enjoyed learning about the New Forest Airfields - if you haven't been, the memorial just outside the camp is well worth a visit, and to pause for a moment for reflection. Staff all very friendly and welcoming and all the facilities are modern and kept spotlessly clean. Pitches are an excellent size - we had plenty of room for our 9m tag-axle motorhome and enough space if we had wanted to put up our drive-away awning. However, there are a couple of minor feedback points - and this is more for the club than the site. Please advise members on arrival how the electrics work - whilst this is my first motorhome, I spent 30+ years caravanning with my parents and have never come across a 'twist' mechanism before. It would be so simple if you asked when checking in if people have stayed before, and if not, advising them they have to turn the connection to make it live. Also - in today's contactless age, it seems silly that we can pay for our pitch fees with contactless / chip & pin, but we cannot pay for shopping - it has to be cash. Like many people. we don't carry that much cash now - so to not accept card payment at all seems a bit 'dated'.

Happy Halloween

The staff at this site deserve tremendous praise for the way they maintain the facilities, but this week they excelled themselves by organising great halloween based fun for the families, which our 5 yr old grand daughter enjoyed so much. The staff dressed up in costumes and held a party with snacks, drinks and prizes. Well done all.
