Why

When we arrived we were told it was so busy they only had 4 pitches left so we duly rocked up on a grass pitch near the road only to find next day that there were probably 100 unused pitches at the top of the site , please explain

Too big for us

We have just left this site today, we got lost on the way in & had to ring the site for directions, we have a 26ft motorhome with a tow car & getting totally lost around the small village roads became very stressful very quickly. The warden was very helpful & guided us in very calmly, she was very friendly & jovial when we finally got to the site.(although her colleague was a bit too quick to point out the instructions for the route in for my liking). The site is very large, much larger than we were expecting & full to overflowing, it is far too large for our liking so we did not really enjoy our stay, we expected the WIFI on such a large busy site to be at least useable but it wasn't ! I'm sure that a lot of people love this site, however, I am not one of them & would not return.

Lovely setting

This is a beautiful site with friendly staff , but we were unlucky the site was busy we had to have a grass pitch next to the road which was very noisy. Only stayed 3 nights but enjoyed our stay. Plenty of dog walking the site has a nice one . A lovely 50 minutes walk to the village nice pub good food friendly locals . 7 minutes away is the Sammy Miller motor cycle museum well worth a visit. Would recommend site but keep away from pitches near the road .

Peace and quiet spoilt by gardening machinery

Thoroughly enjoyed our 10 nights on the site. Minor irritations were - 1. many of the toilet / shower cubicles were closed for the majority of our stay, even though the site was very busy, needed to get in early in the morning if you don’t want to queue for shower. 2. One day was completely ruined by landscaping/ gardening machinery 10.30 - 2.30 non stop, petrol swimmers on hedges, followed by grass cutting, just in our area. Would be nice if they restricted it to an hour per area of the site. Very friendly staff, very clean site. Shop OK for emergencies unless you have a dietary requirement, no dairy free milk. High turnover of caravans and motor homes.. excellent for dog owners. Will probably be back.

Have a Dog and Travel

Hi to All, just returned from a Weeks stay 26.5.2018 to 2.6.2018. Stayed on pitch 179, lower end of this section of site, due to traffic noise of the cars going over the Cattle grid. We were not effected by this, but those who did stay this end of this section of site, must of had a terrible time of it. Facilities were otherwise great, the dog walks excellent for their freedom to venture. The play area is for the use for the under five's. The large number of teenaged children during this week were abusing the rides and were disrespecting, to their use. On a pleasant note; A thank you the wardens for keeping the site in perfect order, even doing night patrols up to 10.00pm. For you the dog lovers, I have read previous reviews and not one as mentioned that there are FOUR areas of beach were dogs are allowed all year round. Areas are marked with a Blue dog sign for start of area and a Red dog sign where area ends, you'll be talking about a mile for each area. Starts at Southbourne up and after Boscombe pier. ALL SAND. Well worth the visit, there are tea rooms areas to eat etc.

Wonderful stay

We stayed here from 4th to 19th May and had glorious weather! Thank you to all the team who created such a lovely atmosphere this year and looked after everyone so well. We really appreciated all the hard work being put in to tidy up the Centenary garden and all the site looked beautiful. We were only sorry to have to leave on the Wedding Party Day. Hope you all had fun and thank you once again. Kind regards. PS. Really appreciated the later time for cleaning showers etc as there were no queues and we could relax in the morning!

Wonderful stay

We found the site very clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and approachable. The shop was well stocked and the Information room was full of interesting things to do in the area. The toilet blocks were very clean as were all the service points situated around the site. We are looking forward to coming back.

Great Site in the New Forest

Firstly:- I have only given a five star for peace and quiet but you can hear traffic noise from the very busy A35 if the wind is in the right direction - but it's not like being on the M5 or anything but generally this is a quiet site. On site there are places where it is quieter than others - the areas closer to the play park for example as you would expect are noiser than say Mustang. Facilities are great - despite it being a bank holiday weekend there was no problem using the loo or shower. There are two blocks and I only used the one at Mustang end so can't comment on the other. I did notice the plug holes in the shower were a bit hairy but on the last day they had been cleaned. Good dishwashing and laundry area. The site itself is large and spacious, it was totally full but we never felt over crowded or hemmed in. There is a barrier system to go in and out of the site, with a very well stocked shop (cash only for shop purchases which also includes bits of caravan spares, electric cables, waste pipes etc). There is a good selection of food and at weekends you can get baguettes freshly cooked, croissants etc. There are two dog walks, a small one running along the drive way entrance and a field close to the play area. There is a great children's park and a football pitch as well as the centenary garden. The site is great for cycling but we did not find the New Forest Cycle Route map that you can buy in reception for £4 particularly helpful if you strayed off their route. There were places marked that were roads (looked the same on the map as roads so you would think it was a road) and it clearly wasn't when we got to it, causing us to have to ride up the very dangerous A35 (DO NOT do this - it is VERY dangerous). The route down to Christchurch is down a very long hill, bear this in mind on the way back it's a long up hill. The Cat and Fiddle junction - take you life in your hands to cross it ! There are some quieter cycle routes and of course in the forest is restricted weight wise and speed wise so much better. The trailway from Burley to Brockenhurst is good with Homsley Tea Room for a break mid way - Brockenhurst disappointing, hardly anything there and to be honest not worth the last 2 miles on the road to get to it. Burley is sweet and within 2.5 miles of the site to ride to, touristy shops, icecream, coffees etc. Christchurch and Highcliffe castle nice to visit, and Mudeford - did this all by bike, but not safe enough to ride with kiddies - roads are very busy a lot of the time - some of it in quiet lanes though. This was our first trip to this site and we will certainly be back. We really enjoyed it, the wardens work incredibly hard - it's a big site to look after. Plenty of walking locally, plenty to see, lovely location and all in all well recommended.

First Trip as new members

This was our first time using a caravan and motorhome club site with our new folding camper. The staff were friendly and helpful and facilities were very clean. The site was easy to find by following the HGV signs as recommended on the webpage to avoid Lyndhurst. We walked the hour or so into Bransgore seeing numerous ponies and had a pint at the Crown pub and then enjoyed excellent fish and chips from the van that visits thursdays and saturdays. Recommended if visiting the new forest.
