Lovely Site but!

We arrived for the second year running with our grandchildren. Arrival team were efficient and the grass pitch we chose was perfect. The children absolutely love this site as the play areas and field where they play football was perfect for making friends. We all took our cycles and loved the forest cycling and the children enjoyed being able to cycle around the site and were told to keep to the speed limit. It was rather annoying that the shop was shut for 2 hours in the afternoon, so we couldn't buy an afternoon ice cream for the children as after 4 was too close to supper. The facilities are excellent toilet blocks, washing and washing up areas. I did not have a problem with the cleanliness of the ladies toilet block but my husband and son were absolutely disgusted with the state of the men's facilities especially in the morning. We can't understand people leaving the toilets in such filthy condition but this is a very busy site and it was full, one clean a day just is not enough. The fish and chip van which visits the site is excellent and beaches and many attractions are close by.

Perfect

Arrived at the site to be greeted by lovely wardens who were very helpful advising us where would be best to pitch up with dogs. Lovely dog walks on site where you can let them off their leads for a good run around. We chose a grass pitch and we were lucky enough to get a corner pitch with more space, the facilities are immaculate and are cleaned everyday around 3-00pm which I think is so much better than closing in the morning. Most campers are out and about in the afternoon. Very child friendly site! Large playground and football pitch. Most of them were on their bikes and scooters all making friends with each other. They’re is fish and chips pizza and a chilli van on various evenings The only downside is the grass. the grass was very long on our pitch and on some others. I appreciate this is a large site and the wardens are extremely busy. The day of our departure they had 90 arrivals expected. They don’t get a minute to cut the grass which is a real shame. Could go with a full time grass cutter. We had a great stay!

Mixed feelings

Overall Site and facilities were of a very good standard but there are a few issues that spoilt the holiday and reduced my ratings. We may have been unlucky with the choice of pitch but as we were 2 caravans we wanted to get 2 pitches together. We ended up on 2 grass pitches at the bottom of a slope. We had quite a few days when it rained and this waterlogged our pitches..... not ideal. The WiFi is useless, it does not help when repeaters are put on short poles and situated in trees.... this needs sorting, why are we paying for 12 months of WIFi when it just seems like every site we visit the service is not fit for purpose. The majority of Staff are friendly and will give you an “hello” but there are a few who have eaten the rule book for breakfast and make it a mission to let you know. There are great beaches within 10min drive and the local pubs in Hinton are great for food and drink... especially The Carpenters Arms. Will we visit again, definitely and hopefully they will have sorted the WiFi

Not the best

Disappointing stay. Absolutely packed (as are all the sites at present) and pitches seemed very close together. The grass pitches were tired and tatty although very few vacant so probably just getting hammered with continuous bookings. The worst thing was the toilet block. 15 mins after reopening from cleaning the floor and toilets were dirty (mens) and didn’t look like they’d been cleaned at all. I mentioned to the staff and they said the cleaning was subcontracted out. Also disappointing was the fish and chip van. After what seemed like a forever wait (at least 40 mins) the fish was poor quality with horrible thick batter and not at all what we expected given we had been told how good it is. The location is far from anything to do on foot and for us the site just didn’t live up to the usuals standards. Maybe we were unlucky…

Great location

A great location for visiting the beaches where there are plenty to chose from,The toilets and showers are kept to a high standard but it does not seem they keep the grass very well there are six wardens on site and you can usually find three at any one time in the office, when we arrived the grass was quite long and when we left the pitch next to us who vacated a day early still had not been cut at all, We had three guys at 3am in the morning trying to break into our trailer one on a bike and two on foot when I shouted at them they decided to leave and there was a car outside the site waiting for them.I approached the wardens and they just didn't seem very interested with the problem of theft on site, they just informed me they had problems earlier in the year where a lot of bikes was stolen and was quite calm about the event I asked them if they had security cameras and they stated that they had no recording facility I was quite shocked about this event and they didn't seem interested in taking any information from me to inform the police or even raise a incident report to send to Head office surely they must of had training or just was not interested in the problem with Thieves on this site we were quite shocked as we use caravan club sites as your suppose to feel more secure at their sites but obviously not. Otherwise a very good site the onsite food retailers was very good to have and we enjoyed ourselves pity about the lack of interest from the wardens about thieves.

Great stay!

A fantastic site in the heart of the New Forest. Leave the phone at home as the reception is poor but this isn’t why we go away. Great park for the kids and really nice walk in and around the site. Food offering throughout the week is spot on and the best site we’ve stayed at yet for it.

Excellent site for all requirements.

Fish & chip van, pizza van a real bonus. WiFi is useless, when will the club stop using air angel and provide a decent broadband easy to access and reliable.

A BIG THANK YOU

We have just returned from two weeks at this site which we very much enjoyed. Having read some recent reviews I was concerned that it might not live up to previous visits, but our experience was a warm welcome when they were very busy, simple explanation of the current COVID rules and very well presented pitches as usual. The staff worked extremely hard in soaring temperatures to keep the site to a high standard for which we are very grateful. I just hope they get to read this! I realise there are a lot of people who are new to the Club’s rules etc but it relies on these to keep everyone safe. My only gripe is that I have paid the annual WiFi fee which I have been unable to use here or on the Battle site. That is not the responsibility of the staff. Thank you all again.

Very pleased with our first visit to this site

This was our first visit to this particular site and we loved it. We only stayed two nights because it was a last minute booking due to issues on another site, however we thought the location was beautiful. Upon arrival it was mega busy (approx 92 arrivals due that day) so we had to queue for quite some time, however the wardens were doing their best and coped very well with the pressure. They were very pleasant people and in my opinion, did a great job. Yes, the site is pretty big (I think around 275 or so pitches) but it is flat and the pitches are well maintained. The toilet blocks etc were clean and tidy. My only negative point about the site is that TV, phone and internet is virtually non-existent. Some might say that is a positive!!! Overall, the location is fabulous and the good points outweigh the bad and we would love to return one day!

New Forest Delight

Our first visit to this area made all the more enjoyable by being on a site run by friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them- not that we had problems - just simple questions like where to catch the bus…. all dealt with cheerily despite not being officially on duty. Arrival was a process which had to be followed understandably in these COVID times but was done efficiently and speedily. Wifi issues yes but fortunately we weren’t relying on good connections but can see why some would find this annoying. A great area for us which we explored by bike on many of the country lanes. The open top bus tour was ideal for us as rely on public transport or our bikes to get around. Fab fish and chip van was a treat. Lots left still to do so will return.
