Nice site but rude wardens ruined our holiday!

Sadly our holiday was ruined by a rude warden & her partner. They were confrontational & the opposite of helpful, we couldn’t put our privacy room up because they insisted we fill our MH with water at the MH service point rather than the tap right next to our plot, the reasons for this were never really made clear & there were no signs to say this couldn’t be done. We tried to book a serviced pitch back in October but this wasn’t an option on the app. They seemed to enjoy treating me like a 5 year old on more than one occasion, this would’ve been amusing had I not been on holiday with my family trying to have a nice relaxing time. We left a day early. Quite simply they are jobsworths who’s time would be better spent in the shower blocks policing the lack of social distancing & face coverings rather than jumping out of the hedge at 10.30pm and reading me the riot act. Won’t be going back or recommending.

Lovely site

We have been coming to this site for years and never had a problem until this year, the wardens are rude arrogant and clearly do not enjoy their job or want to be there, we were greeted on the Saturday with a rude warden saying we were a hour early then we planned, not our fault you can't see what traffic is going to be like, I was happy to offer the extra to get in early which they refused even though we have done so quite a few times, so we waited in the car for 45 mins then we were rudely ushered through the gate, my next experience with the warden was to let them know about a caravan maintenance man coming to site which, the guy was part of the caravan club committee but they were very rude to him also, as another person has said the the committee guy these wardens this year are a jobs worth, on a whole the campsite as always is lovely and quiet and well kept but we def will not be coming back anytime soon

Excellent site - well maintained and well managed.

We had not been to this site before. A few days before we arrived we were called and asked to pay in advance to speed things up on arrival. This was sensible and helpful. We found the site was big and the pitches well spaced out and well kept. Strange thing to say but after the depressing news - Covid - Middle East - UK politics we found this place a haven of peace and tranquillity. All the other members were lovely and all polite and cheerful. The wardens did a great job keeping the ablutions clean and smart as well as the regular emptying of the waste and recycling bins. We particularly enjoyed excellent pizzas from the pop up New Forest Pizza company that visit. We enjoyed long walks and cycled to Christchurch for a feast of a seafood lunch. To prove I’m human I’m going to have a gripe that it was not possible to order a Sunday paper “because of Covid”. The shop seemed to sell a thousand items so I really can’t see how selling newspapers would be difficult. As a motorhomer it’s not easy to get about and this was slightly unsatisfactory. That small thing apart we had a great week and we highly recommended the Centenary site.

Another Excellent Stay.

We stayed on this lovely site for a 2nd time in May. Pitches are spacious, wardens helpful and friendly and lots of interesting places to visit. We went to Bournemouth, Christchurch and Keyhaven - not to be missed. An extra bonus is the fish and chip fan - unfortunately we missed the pizza but hopefully we will time it right next time - and there will be a next time!

Loved this site

Stayed for a week here during May. Had a very warm welcome from the wardens who were probably some of the friendliest we had met. Check in procedure very good. Pitches are excellent and all facilities very clean. Location for us was very good as we enjoy the coast, walk from Bournemouth to Hengistbury was stunning. Mudeford is lovely. Would be a bit difficult to get around if you didn't have a car as the position of the site is quite isolated. The shop was quite well stocked and we enjoyed fish and chips from the van that comes 3 times per week and also had a very nice pizza from the wood oven that visits twice a week. Both well priced. Will certainly come back.

Beautiful site........But

This is by far the nicest site we have stayed on, clean tidy plenty of space. The wardens were friendly and helpful and the cake in the shop is delicious. A good play area (we didnt use it). But I doubt we will ever stay there again. For us the location was all wrong, we have a dog and like to go off walking from the site this wasnt really possible here, we had to go everywhere by car. Its ok if you have a bike (we didnt). There is a fish and chip van and a pizza van that come to the site both are really good.

Unwelcoming and Unhelpful Wardens

We have visited this site many times but this time we found the wardens unhelpful, unfriendly and very jobsworth. On our arrival, we were told we should have arrived after 1pm so we queued with the other vans. We were then rudely ushered through at 12:15 which has never been our experience before during our lengthy membership. Despite telling the warden that we have visited before, he continued to give us all the spiel but not in a usual warm CAMC way. Later in the week, the female wardens gave my son in law (a new member) contradictory instructions as to where he should pitch, saying 'any pitch' and he had to move his van (no offer of help from the wardens despite the two very small children with my family). He had in fact pitched by a blue marker next to our van which had miles of room, much more than the pitch to the left and opposite. He even offered not to put up his awning. I am sorry to say that I don't think I saw the wardens smiled once or greet people in the usual fashion that we are used to. Overall the wardens were not kind. Also, the showers in the blocks were not cleaned properly. Hair accumulated around the edges. But then I see two young cleaners (not wardens) hanging about outside the block on their phones! Come on CAMC, I know we've been through hard times but a smile and kindness wouldn't go a miss especially as this was our first trip out in over a year.

Lovely site in the New Forest

We spent three nights at this site a few weeks ago and had a lovely stay. The location is impressive, being on an old WWII RAF base, and the team at the Caravan & Motorhome have done a really good job in acknowledging this history with the names of the different areas of the site being named after the types of planes, and the memorial garden is lovely too. It's a huge site, and the staff were really helpful in identifying the available pitches to us on the map so we didn't have to drive around looking for too long. Once we'd got set up, we realised someone else was using our EHU point so we had to get the staff to swap them over to the correct point, which they did straight away for us with no problem. This site is definitely a good one for families as there is a huge play area - if you are looking for a more peaceful stay I would recommend booking out of term time/during the week! There are also two great dog-walks on site which I really appreciated, as they were very close to our pitch and I could let our little dog run off once I was through the gate. The site's location is ideal for exploring the New Forest - pretty much everything of interest is within 20 minutes drive which is handy. Would definitely recommend this site to anyone looking to visit this beautiful part of the country!

Will Definitely Return

This was our first visit to this site over the bank holiday weekend and we loved it. The pitches are great and we would be happy being sited on any one of them. Facilities are super and clean and the motorhome service points are very accessible. Having a wood fired pizza van and fish and chip van visiting on two nights was a bonus. Good base for cycling and short drive to lovely beaches. Can't wait to return!

Very relaxing stay

Stayed for 3 nights mid week. Good location for exploring the area. Very well run and clean site. Staff very friendly. Stayed during school time so no children around. Facilities partially open (no showers) but all well maintained, whole site felt very safe. Pitches are well spaced and a good size. Location is peaceful and relaxing, children's area and wildlife zone. Nice walks around - walked into Bransgore in around 40 mins although not much footpaths so beware of traffic! Fish and Chip van one night and Pizza van the next was a nice option if needed. Will certainly return.
