Very pleased with our first visit to this site

This was our first visit to this particular site and we loved it. We only stayed two nights because it was a last minute booking due to issues on another site, however we thought the location was beautiful. Upon arrival it was mega busy (approx 92 arrivals due that day) so we had to queue for quite some time, however the wardens were doing their best and coped very well with the pressure. They were very pleasant people and in my opinion, did a great job. Yes, the site is pretty big (I think around 275 or so pitches) but it is flat and the pitches are well maintained. The toilet blocks etc were clean and tidy. My only negative point about the site is that TV, phone and internet is virtually non-existent. Some might say that is a positive!!! Overall, the location is fabulous and the good points outweigh the bad and we would love to return one day!

New Forest Delight

Our first visit to this area made all the more enjoyable by being on a site run by friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them- not that we had problems - just simple questions like where to catch the bus…. all dealt with cheerily despite not being officially on duty. Arrival was a process which had to be followed understandably in these COVID times but was done efficiently and speedily. Wifi issues yes but fortunately we weren’t relying on good connections but can see why some would find this annoying. A great area for us which we explored by bike on many of the country lanes. The open top bus tour was ideal for us as rely on public transport or our bikes to get around. Fab fish and chip van was a treat. Lots left still to do so will return.

Not really for us

We were spending a week on the IOW and travelling via Lymington so this site seemed a useful two night stop over. The site staff were friendly and professional when we booked in. This is a sprawling site with getting on for 300 pitches so would not normally be our choice, more of a holiday site rather than a touring site. It is also a bit remote if you don't have your own transport. Didn't use the toilet blocks but it was good to see two open grill motorhome waste points. One of the real disappointments was the limited number of hardstanding pitches. First time for a long time we have had to use a grass pitch. Fortunately it was quite firm and despite some rain remained so. Don't know about shopping but on the Saturday my Sister picked us up ( from the entrance I hasten to add!) to take us out to lunch. We went to the Pebble of the Beach Restaurant at Barton on Sea. Lovely meal so happy to recommend.

Not what we are used to.

Arrived on site at 1.45pm and joined the queue to book in which we did not have a problem with but to be told quite forcefully to stay in our vehicle until we booked in was rather harsh especially after a long journey. There were only two caravans in front of us but it still took over 30 minutes for us to be allowed on site . Having been to this site several times we were rather disappointed at the state of the pitches especially the grass ones, which we prefer, Judging by the length of the grass they had not been cut for some time. The hedges and grass pathways are also looking neglected and were overgrown and in fact, unfortunately the site was looking altogether quite sad and unkept . On previous visits the site has always been well kept ! The upside to this is that one does not have to listen to the constant noise of the lawn mower, strimmer and hedge trimmer!! Site staff always looked and appeared to be rather glum which is not usual for this or any other club site that we have been on, My guess is that they are suffering the stress of managing 'covid' rules, which are much stricter here than the two previous sites we have been on on this trip. The office/ shop not opening until 10am is also rather unhelpful. Not withstanding the above we still enjoyed our stay and will come back again and hopefully the site it will be back to its usual high standard and the staff will be happy and smiling again.

Great place for our first outing as Caravaners!

This was our first time out caravanning (July 2021) and site was very good, staff friendly and helpful. Pitch was hardstanding and once we had the right hooks to hit into the ground it was very easy to secure our awning down! Shop well stocked. Toilets etc clean and tidy.

Not what we have experienced in the past

We have been coming to this site for quite a few years now and always experienced a very well kept site a very warm and friendly welcome from the various wardens of the time. Unfortunately this time on arrival we got a very terse and and abrupt greeting well I say greeting there was no Hello just' "your card!! Having confirmed we had been before the warden proceeded to go through everything again his highlighter pen was working" overtime particularly on people visiting the site I confirmed this would be not happening but again he reiterated it it was like being at school and being treated like a child. The strange thing is that during our stay two vans near us had visitors even to the point that their cars were parked on pitch instead of dictating in the office perhaps he should have gone on site to see what was happening. I will point ou the other wardens we came across around the site were lovely and the usual standard we have come to expect. I thought perhaps it was a one off and he'd had a bad day but no it seems quite a few people experienced this mans rudeness. We will give this site a miss for a while I think a shame but after a long journey you don't need that kind of welcome.

Good and Poor

The good bits - wardens, location, facilities, tv signal ok, fish & chip van, pizza van. The poor things - WiFi is useless when it is working, even when you are pitched near a mast. Mobile phone signal on EE & Three is none existent on site. A lot of the site lighting at night is out, making you feel unsafe, so you need a torch. Not a good standard for such high prices.

Lovely Break

Recently stayed at this site for a weekday break. Arrived on site at the 1pm designated time, a little disappointed to see many had arrived before us and some were casually leaving despite being well beyond the departure time. Very busy checking in but handled very efficiently by friendly and helpful wardens. Condition of site was very good, grass and hedges neatly trimmed and washing facilities very clean throughout our stay. Had coffee and cake in the excellent 'Coffee House' in Bransgore, lovely staff who work there, nothing was too much trouble for them and excellent value. Also visited Burley, pleasant to walk around but not such a good experience at the Old Farm House - prices a bit high for what we had. Visited Highcliffe Castle which was lovely, the weather was not too good so didn't walk down to the beach will do that at next visit. All in all a very pleasant stay at the New Forest site, we will have no hesitation in booking another stay in the future.

Disappointed

Having stayed here twice before, we were looking forward to our short stay en route to the Isle of Wight. No complaints about the overall quality of the site, however, we were very close to some pitches where the occupants had no regard for their neighbours and shouted and cheered all night, presumably watching England playing their quarter final in the Euros. Our main complaint, however, is about a female warden who was very rude to my wife on check-in and, again on another occasion, when my wife went to the office to ask a very simple and straightforward question. She is obviously not a "people" person and we find it hard to understand why a person with this sort of attitude should apply for a job of this nature. We have read other reviews and find that our sentiments are quite common. We will not be returning to this site.
