Difficult Review

This was our third visit to this site, last was about 3/4 years ago. Love the site, beautiful location however, this time we were met by a very unhappy miserable lady who quiet clearly didn’t want to be there. After finding pitch and setting up, electrics didn’t work, female warden came to look at it and was extremely rude and put out by the need for her visit even though there was actually a problem with the electric feed. On returning to reception to confirm our pitch we were met by a lovely friendly different lady. We had amazing weather during our visit. The facilities were not as clean as would be expected or as they had been on previous visits, the grass had clearly not been cut for some time despite the good weather, We still love this site but just lost some of the premier Caravan Club Site feel.

Perfect Stay

We were only at this site for 2 nights but the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The site itself is clean; tidy and very pretty. The facilities were very well looked after and there were plenty of showers; toilets and wash cubicles available for everyone even allowing for covid restrictions. Whilst there we took advantage of the mobile fish and chip van which is there a couple of evenings a week and they were delicious, being cooked fresh while you wait :) On different evenings there is also a stone baked pizza van and a chilli van so all tastes are catered for. We would thoroughly recommend this site and hope to be back there soon.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

The Good - the wardens and staff generally were very efficient, pleasant and helpful. Thanks. The site was in good condition and pitches are generously sized and mostly level. The Bad - whilst I’m in no way a “COVID-Denyer”, the Clubs precautions are overly cautious and mean too many facilities are closed off - showers, toilets etc. Location is in a nice spot but there are no shops, pubs or cafes in anything like walking distance. The Ugly - due to its location, there is very little, if any 4G mobile coverage, hence data connectivity. The site WiFi is rated Bronze (the lowest) and on our pitch, we could rarely even see the WiFi never mind login to it. On sites such as this with poor mobile coverage, the Club must do more to provide better WiFi on the site - this is the 21st century and the technology does exist. Overall, a nice site, a great 5 day stay and we might return. The Club needs to spend a little more of its considerable cash reserves to stay ahead of the competition, justify the pitch prices and remain the gold standard.

Excellent Location

This site is in an excellent location with easy access to both the forest and the coast. The facilities are of the usual high standard that you would expect from the club. We did experience some issues with both the WIFI and the TV reception during our stay, but this didn’t materially affect our stay. The cleaning of the shower and toilet blocks left something to be desired, but it looked like they were being cleaned by outside contractors. Pity about the attitude of some of the wardens, but we were there for the scenery, so we didn’t let this spoil our stay.

Restful and Fun short break

My sister and I were greeted warmly by the friendly and fun staff at reception when we arrived last Wednesday. We were delighted to be able to select our own pitch and amazed at how much space we were alloted. It was easy to manoeuvre in and we were under no obligation to unhitch immediately as we weren't in anyone's way. This was just as well because we had a problem with the jockey wheel that took a while to sort out. The other campers were incredibly friendly and helpful, and also good fun! We went for a lovely walk out on the old airfield, which is now gorgeous New Forest heathlands, and it started right there at the campsite, so no more need for driving on the first evening. It was very quiet there, which was lovely too. No complaints whatsoever! Showers and loos were good. Shop opened a bit late in the morning - had to wait for milk!

Lovely site, great location

We’ve just returned from our latest break, weather was superb. Good Covid safe facilities, usual excellent clean site. Lots to do in the area, excellent walking country. Can’t fault the site apart from the extremely poor wifi! This is the fourth site we have stayed on this year and haven’t had a good wifi connection on any site. In these Covid times any facility, restaurant outing has to be booked on line. If there isn’t a wifi signal on site, a mobile phone has to be used, after three weeks being away, continuous use of mobile data resulted in me having to buy additional data! Having purchased a years supply of ( non existent) Club wifi data we weren’t happy about this additional expense! In this day and age wifi should be available on all Club sites! This needs sorting with some urgency! Incidentally does anyone from the club ever read any of these reviews?

Recent stay at the New Forest

We have had a lovely time as usual at the site. The wardens were very helpful when we extended our booking and my daughter took over our caravan for the weekend There appear to be fewer wardens on site, and I think the wardens are very over worked. Their job would be made much easier if it wasn’t for inconsiderate members. One inconsiderate member had walked in dog poop and trailed it through the ladies facilities which the warden had to clear up. This really isn’t fair Accidents do happen but if your dog does a poop - clean it up, if you tread in a poop- clean it up

Nice site but rude wardens ruined our holiday!

Sadly our holiday was ruined by a rude warden & her partner. They were confrontational & the opposite of helpful, we couldn’t put our privacy room up because they insisted we fill our MH with water at the MH service point rather than the tap right next to our plot, the reasons for this were never really made clear & there were no signs to say this couldn’t be done. We tried to book a serviced pitch back in October but this wasn’t an option on the app. They seemed to enjoy treating me like a 5 year old on more than one occasion, this would’ve been amusing had I not been on holiday with my family trying to have a nice relaxing time. We left a day early. Quite simply they are jobsworths who’s time would be better spent in the shower blocks policing the lack of social distancing & face coverings rather than jumping out of the hedge at 10.30pm and reading me the riot act. Won’t be going back or recommending.

Lovely site

We have been coming to this site for years and never had a problem until this year, the wardens are rude arrogant and clearly do not enjoy their job or want to be there, we were greeted on the Saturday with a rude warden saying we were a hour early then we planned, not our fault you can't see what traffic is going to be like, I was happy to offer the extra to get in early which they refused even though we have done so quite a few times, so we waited in the car for 45 mins then we were rudely ushered through the gate, my next experience with the warden was to let them know about a caravan maintenance man coming to site which, the guy was part of the caravan club committee but they were very rude to him also, as another person has said the the committee guy these wardens this year are a jobs worth, on a whole the campsite as always is lovely and quiet and well kept but we def will not be coming back anytime soon

Excellent site - well maintained and well managed.

We had not been to this site before. A few days before we arrived we were called and asked to pay in advance to speed things up on arrival. This was sensible and helpful. We found the site was big and the pitches well spaced out and well kept. Strange thing to say but after the depressing news - Covid - Middle East - UK politics we found this place a haven of peace and tranquillity. All the other members were lovely and all polite and cheerful. The wardens did a great job keeping the ablutions clean and smart as well as the regular emptying of the waste and recycling bins. We particularly enjoyed excellent pizzas from the pop up New Forest Pizza company that visit. We enjoyed long walks and cycled to Christchurch for a feast of a seafood lunch. To prove I’m human I’m going to have a gripe that it was not possible to order a Sunday paper “because of Covid”. The shop seemed to sell a thousand items so I really can’t see how selling newspapers would be difficult. As a motorhomer it’s not easy to get about and this was slightly unsatisfactory. That small thing apart we had a great week and we highly recommended the Centenary site.
