First timer

This was our first outing in our newly acquired motorhome, and first ever stay on a camping site of any kind - we have changed from sailing to motorhoming. As a first experience it was very good. The site was very well run, and the facilities spotless - unlike some of the French marinas we have been used to! The staff were very helpful and friendly. The walk into Moreton in Marsh was easy and we enjoyed browsing the many stalls on the Tuesday market. There are plenty of things to do in the area, and the town has a good selection of places to eat/drink. The only minus points were some road noise, but there are pitches further away from the road, and I thought some of the electrical points were unnecessarily far away from the pitch and accessed via a muddy patch of ground. Overall, though, a positive experience, and we will certainly go back.

Cotswold break

Campsite staff very pleasant and helpful. Site was in very good condition considering the wet winter we have had. Facilities were warm and clean. Plenty of local information, attractions, walks etc. Campsite is ideally situated to walk into Moreton in Marsh. 5 minutes max. Particularly liked the layout of the site. Lots of small enclaves. Not as regimented as some Club sites.

Great site for Motorhomes

Spent 6 enjoyable nights in our motorhome at the site last week Feb/March. Wardens very pleasant, helpful and accommodating, letting us leave after 12 on our last day. Facilities excellent and very clean and warm, the heating problems now having been resolved. Only downside is the noisy A44 road alongside. Ten minutes walk into town for excellent train and bus links to Stratford, Oxford and surrounding towns and villages with several pubs in Moreton to visit on your return, remember a torch if walking back to site in the dark. We will definitely visit again.

Good site for exploring Cotswolds

Just had an enjoyable five night break at this site. The site has a couple of modern clean toilet blocks closed at different times for cleaning which was great if your a late riser and want a lesuirely morning - you can still get a shower. Two motorhome service points - only thing I wish is my fellow Motorhomers would only park up on these when emptying waste water tanks & filling with water. Wandering off to empty toilets at the toilet block etc blocking the service points is not very thoughtful when others are queued up waiting. Toilets can be done from your pitch. Pitches are a bit tight - fine for motorhomes but tight for a caravan, awning & tow vehicle. Pitches by road obviously noisy so avoid if possible. Easy 10 minute walk along pavement into Moreton with its cafes, small CoOp & Tesco Express, pubs, shops etc. Train station makes it easy for a trip to Oxford or with one train change to Birmingham. Bus stop in village allows you to get to other places like Stow on Wold (recommend). Nice 6 mile circular walk from site across fields to Batsford Arboretum (nice Coffee shop) & back to site. Enjoyable break - will be back again one day to explore more of Cotswolds.

Lovely Site.....But!!!

Very good location 10 minute stroll to Moreton.Toilet facilities immaculate as ever.Site itself is well laid out, however the pitches are on the small side.More suitable for a Motorhome than a caravan with awning. Also a fair amount of Road noise from the A44 most of the time. The children's play area is extensive and the dog exercise field is reasonably large. All in all a nice Site with a few drawbacks but will probably visit again in the future.

Another brilliant break

We recently had a four night stay at this site , the wardens were welcoming and helpful. Everything still at excellent standard, showers lovely and hot and cleaned regularly. The site was very busy when we arrived due to half term, but by Sunday evening a lot of spaces appeared. A very well run site, and worth the journey from Devon. Lots to keep you busy in Moreton , tea shops , the black bear where you will get a warm welcome. We will be back soon.

Disappointing Pitches

Although relatively new members we have stayed at six and visited four other CC sites. This is by far the most disappointing site as we feel that it is not up to the usual standards of the Caravan club. The pitches are very small. They will accommodate either a Caravan and Car or a Caravan and Awning but not all three. We stayed for one week in February and only found the heating on in the showers on one occasion (and even then only very low). This is not what was expected at this time of year. The main toilet and shower block is closed for cleaning for a full two hours daily. This affects the ladies and gents at the same time. There are two toilets open at this time which is not sufficient for a site of this size. The site is close to a busy road and it does get quite noisy from about 6.30am onwards. It is very easy to walk into the local village which has a Chip shop, Indian takeaway, several Cafes and Pubs. There is also a Pizza van which visits the site twice a week and a Chip shop van once a week. If we ever return to the Cotswolds it will not be to this site.

Morton in Marsh - Another great CC site and well worth a vist

Another great club site, from the time we arrived we felt very welcome. Wardens were on hand to ensure we had everything we needed for a relaxing couple of days. Facilities were what you would expect, only the facilities here seemed to be of a higher standard. High number of very clean toilets and showers available. Even the place to wash your dishes was in a heated room. Good selection of hard standings to select from, some in full sun and some shaded if required. Filling up your camper was also made easy with a number of water filling stations available. What was also noticeable was the high number of grey water, refuse disposal, etc sites there where available throughout the site. You didn’t have to walk far where ever you were parked. There’s a children’s play area with a good variety of swings, climbing frames etc. Next door you have a fenced off dog walking area, great if you want to leave your best friend off its lead to have a free run chasing a ball or anything else you feel like throwing……. There is also a small football field for those who feel more energetic. The town is only a short 10 minutes walk away, here you will find a great selection of little shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs (most are dog friendly) we watch the 6 nations rugby in the Black bear. Great pub for real ales, very nice pub grub and even the dog is offered a treat. Overall if you want to visit a high standard site with plenty of old quaint places to visit then Morten in Marsh could be what you’re looking for. Two pieces of advice, if you’re visiting the town and don’t expect to return to the site till after dark make sure you take a torch. There are no lights between the town and the site and you could end up in a ditch. Secondly the TV reception was not very good when using your own Ariel, all the electric posts have a ariel socket and you can run you own lead back to your caravan or motor home. The shop on site sell tv leads if you forget yours. Overall a very nice site for both young and old, lovely town to visit and a great site to return to.

A great base for exploring the area

Stayed here for 4 nights last week, site is great and safe and only 10 minute walk along a footpath into Moreton. This is a great little village with lots to see, we were there on a Tuesday so went to the market, very interesting. There is a railway station in the village so you can travel further afield if you wish. The wardens were friendly and not in your face, all in all a great 4 nights

Walking Site

We arrived in middle of February. Check in was easy the wardens very helpful. We found a pitch and set up. The only downside for us was that because of the peg location we had to drive because our habitation door is on the offside which meant our rear end bedroom was next to the service road which was a bit noisy with people passing. The town was a short walk from the site and although we had some snow flurries this did not stop us from using some of the several walks accessible from the site. The facilities were the usual CC standard and not crowded although some cubicle had been closed off. The bus took us to Stow on the Wold and Boughton on the Water.
