A lovely site central for the town and Tuesday market.plenty of coffee and tea shops and pubs.
The information centre packed with things to do and how to get there.
We had a nice pitch tucked in the corner and a lovely decorated outfit to guide us to van.
The wardens organised food and drinks in the information hut for New Year celebrations ,a great opportunity to chat to other visitors.A lovely way to see the New Year in especially as I didn’t know what to expect.
Shower block very clean ,no mud .
Looking forward to our visit again next year. Thank you to all the wardens for their hard work and cheery smiles.
We stayed here for a week over the New Year. This site is amazing, cannot fault it at all. Staff are lovely, always out cleaning, emptying bins etc. They held a New Years Eve get together with food and drinks. Music and karaoke was great fun, we mixed in with other members, staff, and wardens we were dancing really enjoying the night. This was only our second time there and can't wait to return. A big thank you to the staff and wardens who you cannot fault, amazing place.
Arrived in a caravan on Sunday before New Year. Welcome was pleasant and information provided about toddler room etc. Invited to the New Year’s eve get to together and told about pitches available (only 20 left!). We drove around a quite narrow circuit to the right and found ourselves going round a few times before selecting our pitch. There were a few dead end pitches and not suitable for caravan manoeuvres; ideally I would liked to have walked before hand and selected etc but they were busy and caravans were threatening to stack up outside. We were advised by reception not to drive on grass so we used the motor mover; which was essential anyway due to the position of our pitch. It was easy to avoid the muddy patches when sticking to the paths etc but I do agree with previous reviews about a need for some regravelling or tidying up when the weather gets better. A pitch near us was totally unsuitable for anything other than a small motorhome due to a soggy side and covering of moss / grass.... not sure what you do about it though! It’s been awfully wet this Autumn / Winter. The facilities that we used were wonderful but you just can’t escape the muddy boot / wet shower cubicle / muddy footprints etc. Maybe they can supply shoe covers for winter months like at swimming pools? Would help to have less mud in the showers etc. Dishwashing facilities good.. if a little cramped ... but never seems to have hot enough as id use at home water...this is a comment i’d make about all sites. I do like to think my dishwashing water is hot enough to kill germs etc. Play area good.. one area out of use... as identical with another site we’d used recently so not sure what’s going on there. It’s the rope net access to the slide. Boules area available and crazy golf... all off limits due to weather and leaves but would be fun in summer. We never went to the other facilities to the left of the entrance and didn’t fancy some of the pitches there due to over head wires / electricity / phone lines? Overall a good site ... fab wardens.... a wonderful NYE party needing some preventable solutions to the little details. Another thing that would help is better lighting maybe; I couldn’t see the bin lid writing early evening as it was too dark to see which litter bin to use etc.
Location next to town is great! Busses are easy get to local towns (we did Bourton). The Arboretum near by was fab! A very good base for exploring that part of the Cotswolds. Thoroughly enjoyed it!!! In our personal reviews in our Caravan Diary... this fell into the “Very Good” category. 73/100 :-)
Moreton In Marsh site is in a lovely location ideal for a short walk into the centre of Moreton. Site needs some updating and pitches lacked maintenance some regravelling certainly wouldn’t go a miss. Not a reflection on the site but some of the visitors have some disgusting habits and don’t have any thought for other users of the facilities or indeed the wardens who have to tidy up after them.
This is our first visit to the site and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would like to thank all the site staff for the New Year's Eve event in the information hut and covered area outside. They provided a fabulous buffet and drinks. The music and singing was very entertaining and it was nice to chat to other Club members. We will definately return in the summer months. Well Done Moreton in Marsh.
Seen lots of reviews complaining about this site and not sure I understand or agree with all. Complaints about wet leaves in November after it had rained for a week are silly. We were there that week and they were trying to blow the leaves away most of the days. There are tight pitches, I agree but members driving across the soggy, muddy grass, wheel spinning and making a mess because they cant be arsed to reverse on is shocking. Seen it too many times here. If you cant reverse your caravan you should not tow it forward. We need to look after our club sites.
We stayed for five nights and overall it was very enjoyable. The site is a 15 minute stroll from Moreton which has many good pubs and restaurants. The railway station is only 20ish minutes walk from the site where we caught the train into Oxford, 40 mins, £11 each off-peak return. The site facilities were immaculate, some mud and leaves were walked in which is only to be expected this time of the year. The pitches do need some investment to bring them upto scratch.
Decided to visit last week of November 2019 as we have stayed here in the past, although only during summer months.
Oh what a (disappointing) difference!
We were informed on arrival, that only one facilities block was open due to it 'being quieter', (although we thought the site got considerably busier during our stay due to the weekend Christmas light switch on), so suitable locations for our outfit were limited. The pitches in the area of the available facilities were in dire need of basic maintenance, i.e. just to make them generally visible.
It wasn't just an issue of recent leaf cover of the gravel hardstandings, as there were several layers & the only indication of the useable area was the pitch marker. The narrow access roads in that area also meant that we had no choice but to drive onto grassed areas in order to manoeuver, as,it was visibly obvious, many others had also had to do, adding to the mud in the process.
The gravel areas are now so compacted with use that they were holding water.
We saw no obvious attempts at basic maintenance of the pitches during our stay.
Overall the site needs bringing up to date, especially as it is a popular location.
A massive improvement, in keeping with the sites' 'open all year' tag, would be the installation of 'All weather' pitches, a facility that more & more 'savvy' open year round private sites are introducing.
I, for one, would be more than willing to pay a premium fee for such facilities.
Recent reviews must be taken seriously and the Club should get their act together to bring this popular site up to date & improve standards.
Forgot to ask one thing of the club. What’s wrong with building some fully serviced pitches for members use rather than spending cash on pods. After all that’s the direction most private sites are heading in nowadays. The club will lose out if it ignores fully serviced pitches much longer.
Just stayed on this site for a week. I can only echo the comments made in the last 5 reviews. Needs a lot of work on this site. Strange the club can find the money to build 10 pods but can’t do basic work on the roads and pitches. It needs to be remembered that the latter are what matter to members, not pods! The club definitely needs to leap into action on all the points being raised, please.
