Not to the usual standard

We have stayed many times at this site and always loved it. This time, however, we were very disappointed. The toilets weren’t clean and this remained the same all week which is so unusual for a CAMC site. The site was covered in leaves so much so that you couldn’t tell where the pitches were, I appreciate this time of year it’s difficult with the leaves but no attempt had been made whatsoever to clean up the leaves. The laundry room and disabled toilets were covered in cobwebs and didn’t look like they had been cleaned in some time. Such a shame as really do love the site and the location but this time it wasn’t the best stay.

Excellent location and site

We enjoyed the location close to the town, within walking distance, as our Motorhome is too large to take off-site. Moreton-in-Marsh itself has plenty to offer with independent shops, pubs, restaurants and tea/coffee shops. The train connections are brilliant so we visited Oxford and Hereford on two separate days. Worcester and London are also within easy reach by train. Food vans visit the site four times a week - fish and chips, steak and frites, pizza (freshly-baked on site!) - we chose the latter. We didn’t explore bus connections as we managed without but overall this is a well-placed site.

Lovely site, great access, fab location. Highly recommended.

Lovely drive to this site with no need for narrow lanes on the final stint, nice wide entrance. Warm welcome, nice clean pitch. I have seen comments about small pitches, I don't think they are particularly small, but are narrow, which I don't think was an issue, car parked in front of Caravan, caused no issues. Arrived Friday night and there were stone baked pizza being freshly made and sold just outside of reception which was great. Whilst relaxing early Saturday evening we looked out of the window to see who was beeping a horn to be greeted by the great site of a steak van. ordered, unsure how this was going to be and it was a wonderful steak, freshly cooked with all of the trimmings which we enjoyed with a glass of red wine. I would really recommend this site.

Caravanners Be Aware

The things that make this site popular with Motor Caravanners are in a way detrimental to what caravanners want from a site. The A44 runs along the length of the site and traffic noise is a problem. However, if you don't have a car and your priority is being able to walk to shops, or catch a bus, the road noise comes as part of that package. Others have commented on how narrow the pitches are. This is unlikely to bother people in Motor Caravans as they don't have a car to park, and, in my experience, are less likely to put up awnings. However, if you are in a caravan you may want an awning and certainly need somewhere to park you car. The requirement to park across the pitch in front of, instead of beside, you caravan is necessary because the pitches are set close together so that more pitches can be put on the site. This may be good for club profits, but it doesn't make for a relaxing experience, or good value for members. As others have said the place needs TLC, grass areas are damaged by cars manoeuvring across the front of pitches and it was evident during our stay that blocked drains were the cause of large puddles on access roads. We wouldn't choose to go again. If I'd read the reviews before booking I would have chosen a better location and better site. Shame to write a negative review, but if you're a caravanner, be aware.

First Time

We visited this site as part of our current tour. We were impressed by all aspects of the site it served our needs perfectly. it was extremely busy and my only question is why the lady on reception, knowing there were only a few pitches left, did not, as other sites do, mark the map to show available pitches to save us driving round and round looking for a free one. We were not the only ones playing merry-go-round and nor were we the only ones asking the question.

Second Visit and Disappointed Again

I am in agreement with several other reviewers who comment that this site is in need of some TLC. The pitches are small with cars parked in front of caravan. Why can't the club have decent pitches that will accommodate an awning and car parked alongside. A lot do and a lot don't! The pitches need some tidying up around edges and grass removed plus a top up of stones, as our patch, a hardstanding, had bare patches with mud. The crazy golf was appalling, broken, rundown and neglected. When raised with reception staff my comment was met by a complete rebuff from a rude female staff member whilst other club members were present in reception. Saying we were the first to complain was surprising as the condition of the facility is plain to see. Finally, the price I paid for a weeks stay on a hardstanding with awning was, almost to a penny, the same amount paid to a fully serviced super pitch on a 5 star private site with deluxe toilet block, brilliant shop, café etc with helpful and caring staff.

First week away

We have been caravanning for 5yrs but never been away for a full week. Whilst the location is great we were very disappointed to see how unkept this site was. The pitches are grassy and very wet, even whiteout rain, and the pitches are too small. Cars parked in front of caravans in the side of the road made it feel cramped and too close to your neighbour. Some pitches under trees were very overgrown and puddles everywhere. Toilets and showers could do with a deep clean. The site needs a good overhaul and some work to improve the pitches and the way it is set out. Nice touch with visiting caterers, but did not compensate for lack of upkeep. All in all there are far too many better sites which are much better set out and not so close to each other, so sadly we won’t be back. If you have kids then I think it would be better as good play area and play park.

Enjoyed our stay

We recently stayed for 6 nights on pitch 17 near the exit it was shaded by the trees this would have been perfect for us had it been really hot which sadly it wasn’t. It’s near the road but we didn’t really notice the traffic after a while. Very close to the water, waste bins and toilets so perfect for us. The first couple of days was noisy with several children tearing around on their bikes otherwise it was nice and quiet. Large children’s play area at the back of the park near the dog walk. The more open sunnier areas of the park is a bit like a caravan parking area all on top of each other, this isn’t to our taste but each to their own. The pitches are small but if you look in the details it does show the car is to parked in front of the pitch nothing is hidden so shouldn’t come as a surprise. Toilet block is clean and warm, first shower as you walk in is amazing really powerful but you may need to adjust the head. Dog area is small but fine for a toilet stop and a short stroll. Glamping pods opposite it. Hundreds of rabbits lovely to watch them play and chase each other, there was even a hedgehog just outside our caravan one evening. TV reception really poor but there are TV Ariel points at the electric points. A lot of hedges, walkways pitches etc could have done with a little TLC, no flowers except at reception, I would say not the usual high standard for Caravan and Motorhome sites. Reception has a small selection of gifts, cakes sweets caravan bits no milk bacon etc I guess no need as so near to town. Wardens were all lovely really friendly. Easy walk to town along the busy road, grass verges both side so not unpleasant just a little noisy. Market on a Tuesday worth a visit. Budgens at the end of the town is great post office in there too, small Tesco and Co op in town and Aldi the other way. Had fish and chips from Mermaid Fish bar cash only was delicious. Didn’t try any on site food. A lot of places eg National Trust, Fosseway garden centre Cotswold Farm don’t allow dogs worth checking before you go anywhere so you won’t be disappointed. Dog friendly in lots of other places and cafes though. We visited just about all the villages in the area, very picturesque but busy, obviously lots of tourists, loved upper and lower Slaughter especially, if you like churches St John the Baptist in Burford (dog friendly) is worth a visit plus it has a lovely coffee shop and garden. Eating out is expensive in most places so worth being prepared if you don’t want to pay about £25/30 for a sandwich and 2 drinks. All in all we were glad we had visited and had a good time but won’t be back as too many other places to explore 😀

Lovely club site

We are motorhomes and this was our first stay at MIM and we stayed for 10 nights up to 30th August so included the bank holiday weekend. We were warmly welcomed by the staff at reception and given plenty of info. We toured round the site and there were plenty of pitches available and we chose one in a small cul de sac, sheltered by mature trees and a hedge on one side and getting full sun on the other. Excellent choice as the bank holiday weekend was very hot and we were glad of the shady trees. Our pitch was clean and tidy and we noticed the staff regularly going around mowing the grass etc. The pitches were plenty big enough for an awning and yes, caravanners do have to park their cars across the front, but I can’t see this is a problem. Showers and toilets were clean and tidy. We did take advantage of the pizza night the day we arrived and they were excellent, although I always think they are expensive anyway, but we didn’t try the meals offered on other nights. There are also rules for keeping dogs on a short leash at all times and most owners did do so but we noticed some did not and you do need to be careful of children cycling around the site. Easy 5 minute walk into the town with shops and an Aldi and Budgen within easy walking distance. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Buses outside the site and in the town centre. Train station a short walk away. As with previous review (mickh1960) we also heard the noise during the evening over the bank holiday weekend although we were some distance from it and I would not have been happy if we had been closer. There were quite a number of visitors that weekend as the visitors car park was full and it sounded as though a birthday party was going on, so I guess they had a lot of visitors there. The wardens do need to ensure that people are respectful of others as the noise was loud and went on quite late in the evening and it was disturbing. Other than this one occasion we found this a quiet and lovely relaxing site to which we would be happy to return.
