New Years Eve Get Together

This is our first visit to the site and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would like to thank all the site staff for the New Year's Eve event in the information hut and covered area outside. They provided a fabulous buffet and drinks. The music and singing was very entertaining and it was nice to chat to other Club members. We will definately return in the summer months. Well Done Moreton in Marsh.

Only ever visited for Christmas. Need to come in the summer.

Seen lots of reviews complaining about this site and not sure I understand or agree with all. Complaints about wet leaves in November after it had rained for a week are silly. We were there that week and they were trying to blow the leaves away most of the days. There are tight pitches, I agree but members driving across the soggy, muddy grass, wheel spinning and making a mess because they cant be arsed to reverse on is shocking. Seen it too many times here. If you cant reverse your caravan you should not tow it forward. We need to look after our club sites.

Many good points although room for improvement

We stayed for five nights and overall it was very enjoyable. The site is a 15 minute stroll from Moreton which has many good pubs and restaurants. The railway station is only 20ish minutes walk from the site where we caught the train into Oxford, 40 mins, £11 each off-peak return. The site facilities were immaculate, some mud and leaves were walked in which is only to be expected this time of the year. The pitches do need some investment to bring them upto scratch.

Needs bringing up to date!

Decided to visit last week of November 2019 as we have stayed here in the past, although only during summer months. Oh what a (disappointing) difference! We were informed on arrival, that only one facilities block was open due to it 'being quieter', (although we thought the site got considerably busier during our stay due to the weekend Christmas light switch on), so suitable locations for our outfit were limited. The pitches in the area of the available facilities were in dire need of basic maintenance, i.e. just to make them generally visible. It wasn't just an issue of recent leaf cover of the gravel hardstandings, as there were several layers & the only indication of the useable area was the pitch marker. The narrow access roads in that area also meant that we had no choice but to drive onto grassed areas in order to manoeuver, as,it was visibly obvious, many others had also had to do, adding to the mud in the process. The gravel areas are now so compacted with use that they were holding water. We saw no obvious attempts at basic maintenance of the pitches during our stay. Overall the site needs bringing up to date, especially as it is a popular location. A massive improvement, in keeping with the sites' 'open all year' tag, would be the installation of 'All weather' pitches, a facility that more & more 'savvy' open year round private sites are introducing. I, for one, would be more than willing to pay a premium fee for such facilities. Recent reviews must be taken seriously and the Club should get their act together to bring this popular site up to date & improve standards.

Going downhill rapidly (cont)

Forgot to ask one thing of the club. What’s wrong with building some fully serviced pitches for members use rather than spending cash on pods. After all that’s the direction most private sites are heading in nowadays. The club will lose out if it ignores fully serviced pitches much longer.

Going downhill rapidly!

Just stayed on this site for a week. I can only echo the comments made in the last 5 reviews. Needs a lot of work on this site. Strange the club can find the money to build 10 pods but can’t do basic work on the roads and pitches. It needs to be remembered that the latter are what matter to members, not pods! The club definitely needs to leap into action on all the points being raised, please.

What a mess !

We can see from other reviews that many members are not happy about the state of this site. Yes only one toilet block Open when site pretty full. Just not good enough as this is a large site and a very long walk from some pitches as a result. Another problem was the state of the pitches. Very poor and in need of a makeover. The worst was the narrow pitch access roads were causing the larger outfits to drive on the grass pitch borders , causing huge muddy unsightly ruts . The club must be aware that longer outfits are becoming the norm and pitch access roads need to widened and redesigned to reflect this. Several people in the dishwash area were saying the same thing. Also there was some bitterness about the new flaming area being immaculate and the tourer side the Cinderella of the site. This is one of the most popular sites on the network and must bring in huge amounts of revenue to the club and yet is so neglected. The club appears more interested in spending members money on glamping and dubious commercial purchases rather than the sites themselves. The members are the bread and butter of the club, providing income and their should be given priority. There is no one to complain to, no complaints dept. Magazine letters, site reviews and on line chats only give the chance to air criticisms but the club do not respond so what is the point ? It all a bit frustrating. Standards are falling. !!! Wake up club managers and do your job !!

Not club standard and very disapointing

We arrived Friday lunchtime to be told only the east side toilet block was open! I was amazed at this as the site was very busy. The west side is by far the better half of the site at this time of year. The fallen leaves on the pitches & roads are very bad and will heavy rain most of the weekend it makes it very slippery underfoot. The wardens said they could not open the other toilet block as they were too busy to clean them? We only visited the site two weeks previous and they were both open then although some of the showers were locked, both mornings I had to wait in line for an available shower so they were needed The state of some of the pitches is a disgrace, it amazes me that the CMC have spent so much money on putting sheds on the dog walk when the state of the site roads, pitches is so below standard I think enough people have commented on this for something to be done about it My only fear is it will be closed for a refurbishment and not open again for several months We got talking to another customer on Sunday morning and he was so fed up with CMC price increases when the standard or number of sites is not improving he is not joining next time his renewal is due Time for some action from the club I think, although I doubt very much anything will be done

Its all about ratios

Very appreciative of the position of this site being so close to the very pleasant village of Moreton in Marsh. On arrival was told that only one of the two amenities blocks was open as the site was not very busy. Unfortunately the block that was open was at the eastern side of the site which is thick with trees, all shedding leaves.Of course most of us want to be relatively close the the amenities. The other block is in a much more open area so better at this time of year. It was heated but closed, even the laundry room and the dishwashing area. Come Friday and a lot of arrivals. With little pitch choice near the open block, vans are having to pitch a few hundred metres from the block. I mentioned to the warden that this was unfair to members and he said it was all to do with ratios..ie the number of customers v the number of toilet cubicles etc, and that his staff would have to clean both blocks should they be open. Pleased to say that with a bit of nagging he agreed to open the second block, which would have been a relief for many ( ah ah). Point is this sort of thing should not be happening. The only other point I want to make is that a lot of the hard standing pitches need to be refurbished. Of the previous 10 reviews I note that 8 reviewers have been critical of the state of these, so please take notice Club.

Very dissapointed in this site, Not the standard i expect!!

We stayed for Halloween and to be fair the wardens made an effort with the children. However the site was in a dreadful state, the pitches are thread bear in relation to chippings, others had piles of leaves all over the pitch. Then when it rained the pitch became waterlogged and the poor people besides us had their brand new awning FULL of water. The location is good with a short walk to town, great fish and chip shop! Children have a nice play area and the dog walk is good. However this was our first and last visit to this site, the toilets weren't as clean as other sites. I keep saying this but it falls on deaf ears, the club now charges similar and some cases more than commercial sites which have many facilities. Overall nice location but tired and expensive.
