Plenty of pubs with good value food out of season within walking distance.
Out for a drive or on the train then stop off at Watchet and get your Fish N' Chips from the takeaway next to The Pebbles Tavern and take them in their to eat whilst enjoying a pint.
You can also order food from the local deli which will be delivered to the pub.
The journey for us from North Devon was much longer than it would have been without the caravan due to advice from Caravan Club not to drive through Dunster.
Near Exmoor
Good site, not too big and it is a reasonable distance to walk into town through residential area. Quite handy too for a few eateries. Although on a main road it is fairly quiet, the site being set in an old quarry with some banking along part of front of site. Not such a good site if you are not too good at walking up (& down) inclines. Short drive to Nat Trust Dunster Castle and this is worth a visit. Also well located for visiting Exmoor and all along the Somerset coast. A previous reviewer's comment about small pitches relates, I believe, to the limited number of none-awning ones.

Recent stay
We returned to Minehead after a few pleasant stays before. We found the site to be quite busy, motor homes had the big pitches and having a caravan we normally use a porch awning there was not enough room on the pitches left for this. Was quiet could walk to the town and seafront. Did not really see the wardens as they were changing quite often, the wardens we knew over the years had left.
Would recommend but think pitches need to be sorted out to take into account caravans wanting to use awnings never been a problem before this.
good 5 night stop
Myself my husband and dog just came home from 2 an half wk road trip and Minehead was one of our stops. We found the site very nice clean tidy quiet and close enough to lots of places. We love walks with our dog, but like a dog friendly pub or 2 along the way! There were a few we liked the best being The Britannia Inn, very friendly locals, great cider & only a short walk away 10 mins. The old ship aground round the bay was nice bit longer walk but gets up the thirst! The quay inn also along way to ship. The hairy dog was ok to. We also walked to Dunster one day that was a bit of a longer walk but worth a visit lovely little streets we visited The stags head then had long walk back along the beach, long walk but walked off the cider! The indian Alcombe tandoori was the best meal l had in ages friendly good value and oh so tasty! the fish shop in alcombe nr the Britannia was amazing to! happy hols everyone!
Nice site, good location.
A compact and quiet site with typical CMC facilities and decent level hardstandings though some looked a little cramped. Town and coast within easy walking distance with buses to nearby villages. Wardens helpful and cheerful. Not much space for any kids' activities. Plenty of light in early March but in Summer I guess it would be a very shady site. Very happy to return.

The Caravan club booking on line
I have tried to book on line on more than one occasion I seem to get it badly wrong every time.
I am not the best on the computer but after booking last week it told me I was book but when I got to Minehead they could find my booking .
I will be using the phone from now on

Site in need of refurbishment
Whilst the site facilities are clean, I felt that the site was looking tired and in need of some refurbishment. The hard-standing pitches had mud coming up through the stones, there was no proper recycling facilities (despite it saying there was in the handbook), and I felt the toilet block facilities would struggle to cope when the site was full as one morning, there was a queue for the three showers. I also noted that the strip light difusers in the toilet block were held together with cable ties which does not look good and presents an uncared for image. Having stayed at this site before, it appears to be showing its age when compared with others in the area (Exmoor House and Lakeside) which is why I marked it down. Despite this, it is no reflection on the Wardens who have to work with what they have.
Parents should note that although close to the facilities that Minehead offers which is why I marked it as five star, there are no facilities for children on site.
Depending on pitch selected, some road noise may be experienced, but this does quieten down at night and is not intrusive.
Overall, I will visit again particularly as the site is handy for Minehead and various places in and around Exmoor. But Caravan Club please, can this site be included in the next round of site refurbishments?
Peaceful site, well located.
We visited the Minehead site in January 2017. It looked like the majority of the pitches were occupied (there were a number being refurbished), but despite that the site was quiet and the one amenities block was well maintained and never had a queue. Staff were friendly and helpful. TV signal was good for all the free view channels, mobile phone signal (EE) was also good with 4G.
Access on to the site is excellent as it is directly on the A39. Walks and bike rides are possible from the site to Dunster Castle and into the neighbouring countryside, which is hilly. The site doesn't have a shop, but Minehead town centre is very close, with a short drive to large Tesco & Morrison supermarkets.
Overall a nice site, well located to explore the local area.
