October 2016

Another great caravan club site situated on the edge of Mine used. Location is perfect for exploring this section of coastline and just 15 minutes walk from the sea front. Friendly staff, well equipped site and very clean facilities. Only negative is the three shower cubicles in the male shower block, could do with one or two more. Would visit again.

Easy Access to this part of Somerset

I have just worked out that the last time we stayed at this site was in 1989! The major difference now is that all the woodland has matured. The downside is that quite a few pitches get little sun. All the pitches are on hardstanding which is a plus with a motorhome some leveling might be needed. Found the WiFi frustratingly slow at times. Depending on where you are pitched there is quite steep access to water and waste and chemical emptying. It is a reasonable walk into the town, reception will provide you with instructions. There is also a regular bus service between Minehead and Taunton for those that don't want to use their own transport. Minehead is a typical seaside town but one major plus is the West Somerset Railway which will be of interest to all ages. There are shops within walking distance of the site which is handy.

Happy Returns!

We try to visit Minehead CC site in Spring & Autumn as it's a good base for touring Exmoor and beyond. Despite being on the fringe of town it's amazingly quiet, but handy for shops, eating places and takeaways.  Good designated dogwalk too.

Ideal for Exmoor

New to caravanning this year we found the site had very easy access, just off main road, 15 mins walk to Minehead & 5 min drive to Tresco or Morrisons to stock up. Site facilities good, with no long treks with waste water etc. Great for exploring Exmoor places eg Porlock, Selworthy, Watersmeet Nat.Trust, Lynton & Lynmouth. A39 from Williton to Minehead bit taxing as quite bendy & busy peak hours, but will definitely be back.

Quiet, friendly, site. Recommended

Lovely friendly site. Very busy. Friendly wardens, site is surrounded by trees, which is just as well because there is some noise from the main road. It is within easy reach of shops, public houses and eateries. A good level walk to the sea, We would go there again, the only downside is the noise from the road at night, which is not constant noise but can be annoying. It will not stop us going again though.

Peaceful yet perfectly placed

Just back from a terrific week at Minehead. The site is peaceful and well screened with some unusual wildlife habitats and divided into small areas each with individual character. The toilet block is one of the older ones on club sites but everything functioned and was kept very clean by the friendly staff. All facilities were more than adequate and we had a very comfortable stay. Local shops are walking distance and provide for daily needs. The town is an easy walk and refreshingly bustling with a range of independent businesses. A Theatre, a heritage railway line, several supermarkets, pleasant seafront and a welcoming atmosphere completes the picture of a community that is a pleasure to be part of. Beautiful walks are possible in many local villages or further afield on Exmoor. The beauty of this piece of North Somerset coast, bordered and sheltered by the Quantocks, the Brendon Hills and Exmoor can hardly be over-exaggerated. Largely unspoilt, it offers a trip back into British rural life that is becoming rarer. If you have not visited, you should. Expect to be surprised.

Minehead re-visited

This was our second visit to Minehead site and from earlier reviews had a bit of trepadation about the upper level.Unfounded I may add.The top level is very peaceful and although a treck, we didnt find it bad at all.We like sites close to amenities, like shops and take aways and this was perfect, only 5 mins at the most.We also like the walk to the Town, which caters for all tastes. Butlins for the kids, plenty of friendly eat-outs,lovely walks and the Railway station is something else. All 15 mins or so from the site. As is expected on a CC site the wardens were friendly and helpful. Really surprised the site was full, 23.27 September, but found no problem with using all the site amenities, just be sensible and use them out of rush hour , so to speak.Going back again, so that we can explore more of Minehead.

A couple of days.

Stayed here in late September. We only stayed for a couple of hectic days so didn't explore the site and will only review what we saw and experienced. We were on a level site at the top of a quite steep hill. The pitch, a hard-standing with no awning was perfectly adequate. The toilet block whilst always clean, when I had a shower the water in the drain backed up a bit and was smelly (I should have reported this but didn't). I don't think there are enough showers/toilets for the size of the site. The plate wash is not big enough for the numbers using it, only two sinks. We had good tv reception using only the standard camper van arial (no satellite dish). About a 15 minute walk to the sea front or town. Visited the W.S.Railway and Dunster and had a good look around Minehead. Try walking to the church on North Hill, the houses clustered below it are well worth a visit.

Disappointing :(

We were located at the top of the hill on a small pitch, always in the shade. No waste or water nearby. All facilities were in need of updating. Coastal path was further away than expected. Little or no internet and tv reception poor. Wardens were polite and helpful but reception closed at 16.00hrs.

Peaceful

Great location but site sadly lacking attention. No freesat signal or TV cable connections so if you want TV then bring an aerial. Very damp in evenings. MVW on hill which seems ridiculous as when leaving you have to do u-turn to face back in so that waste water tank pipe is at bottom of slope, otherwise you leave with most of your waste water still on-board. Office closes at 4pm which is ridiculous and lazy. Would I come again? Probably not as there is a CCC site nearby which I would check out first.
