Peaceful stay

When we first turned up thought it was a bit unusual to park and walk to find a pitch, but after realising it is too narrow to turn as all the site is mainly little end cul de sacs. Wardens really helpfull took the dog for a walk came back and the warden was trimming our hedges as he thought we were missing out which to me I didn’t think so just goes to prove how these guys work hard day in day out to try and keep the upkeep of the sites and ensure people who are staying are satisfied with their stay Not all site wardens are like this as some sites they seem to treat you as if you’re a burden to them sometimes Toilets and showers were immaculate I think maybe they should start cleaning later in the day like some sites have as it’s a bit rushed in the mornings before it’s closed for cleaning but this is the only negative thing I can say Overall site was great and peaceful food places 3 minute walking distance Town 15 minutes walk beach 5 minutes further This is one of the best sites we have stayed on and will definitely be coming back Book this site you won’t be disappointed

Minehead best site on the network

We have just had 4 glorious nights on the Minehead site From the moment we arrived it was excellent, the wardens are the nicest and best we have come across in 5 years of using CAMC sites. They couldn't do enough to help and had excellent knowledge of the local area with help on walks, bus timetables and places to go The site is even better than the normal high standard we have all come to recognise as CAMC. Everyday the wardens are out cleaning the service points, the toilets & showers, the laundry and the washing up room The site is in a lovely position easy to access from the main road but peaceful once on your pitch. A lovely walk into town or the local shops & a great local pub We were lucky to have lovely weather, hopefully we will return again next year and have another great stay

Good site BUT has lots of TICKS - Bring your pets at their peril

This is a good site. Up to the usual standard for the CAMC. A small site set on a number of levels this works well and is easy to navigate. Wardens are professional and capable, providing a good service. The wider area is excellent with a number of fantastic tourist attractions that are well worth a visit. These include Dunster Caste and of course the fantastic steam railway. The seafront is excellent although and not unusually so there is restrictions on dogs being on the beach through the summer season and beyond. The coastal walks are excellent though and breath-taking. A good seaside high street with some interesting shops and pubs intermingled with the usual beach equipment and bazaar type establishments. My only real issue with this site is that it has a real problem with ticks. In two days we pulled off some 20 or more ticks from our two dogs. The wardens had clearly marked the dog walk as "might" having ticks. I suggest a stronger and clearer sign might be more responsible. Of course CAMC cannot be held in any way responsible for the presence of ticks but this should be made clear at the time of booking. I understand that the presence of red deer in the area means that this is a persistent issue. In essence a reasonable, but not special, site with a real and serious problem for animals. I personally would not go back here.

First time on this site

We had been intending to visit West Somerset for some time and finally made it this July, when we had a 4 night stay with grandchildren. We received a warm welcome on arrival and, when the ground proved unusually resistent to out heavy duty awning pegs, were offered the loan of a lump hammer. On-site facilities were well up to the standard we have come to expect from Club sites and there was never a queue, eg, for showers. Although the site is adjacent to the A39, it is remarkably quiet. Out and about we enjoyed trips to Dunster and Lynmouth, although Porlock Hill made the latter a tad challenging. There is a lot of choice for eating out, both in Minehead and Dunster, but the Castle Coffee House in Dunster stands out for its very attentive staff and "home cooked" food. We will defintely be returning to this site

Spot On

Our first time in Somerset and at this site with our motorhome, up to the usual excellent standard. Shops nearby. Very convenient for Dunster & Minehead whether you are walking or cycling and even Porlock is nearby though you have to use the hilly A39 to get there. Dunster and the castle are well worth a visit and be sure to use the West Somerset Railway; consider walking back from Blue Anchor or even Watchet as a pleasant and easy walk to Minehead. First Timer love the peace and quiet

First time at a Club site and what an impression, if all Club sites are as well maintained and presented as this I look forward to a lot of visits. On arrival a lovely lady greeted me and felt almost embarrassed to ask me for my Membership Card (which I had left in the van). She explained the available pitches by highlighting them on a very clear map, toilet drop point and Motorhome Service Point was also pointed out. The lady mentioned something about water that I missed but soon understood as there is no water on the pitches. So I returned to the Motorhome service point to top up the tank. The only gripe I have with the whole experience was that the water flow from this tap was so slow! But hey, you only do it once. Reading the reviews I see someone got confused about the pitch marker and parking. This was explained to me as rear offisde corner OR front near side corner for continental vans. This was explained as the 'passenger' corner. Now I know some continental vans are right hand drive but the mischief in me couldn't help wondering if some foreign person whose grasp of English wasn't great would wonder how to get his passenger side to the peg. Just me being silly. (smiley emoji here). One thing I did miss was the key for the facilities. A Warden came to my pitch to advise that the shop would close at 5 so if I wanted my key I had better go now. He explained they normally wait awhile so that we could set up etc. Very kind of him to seek me out and out me right I thought. A site team on the ball there. Having got my key, as my head hit the pillow a sudden thought? Why do they lock the facilites. Being close to the town are they struck by vandalism? Did we need to lock everything away for fear of it disappearing overnight? Is the need to lock facilities the norm for Club sites I wondered. Anyway such fears receded as the land of nod took precedence. That's me being security concious. The next day was exactly what I wished for, peace and quiet. After busy work schedules a few days away in such tranquil settings is exactly what the Doctor ordered. Being close to the main road the occasional siren could be heard but nothing intrusive. In my review tick boxes I have given it a one for families. I saw no facilites for children such as a play ground or field they could let of steam and make noise, such as they do when excited and enjoying life. I hope this is not taken as a detriment to the overall site which was excellent. The blessed child things are entitled to life as much as us oldies! (second smilie emoji here) One final note on the pitch peg. Yes I liked it, it was clear and concise where your pitch was. I have been to many overcrowded sites where guy ropes and tent pegs intermingle as trip hazards for unwary. Yes, I am a fan of pitch pegs. I will return to Minehead at some point in the future, but first work, after which, which club site next?

Good location

First time here. God location, with a 15 minute walk to Minehead -which is why it is popular with motorhomes. Toilets and showers up to usual club standard. Welcoming staff. Well kept site, easlily found. Good chip shop and Co-Op 5 minutes walk down the road. In Minehead the Old Ship A'Ground is a really good pub serving real quality food. Went three times during our five night stay. A trip on the steam railway from Minehead is great fun, especially the Cheese and Cider special..Dunster Castle well worth a visit.

Beautiful Site

What a gem this site is, the facilities are spotless and our pitch was great. It was hardstanding and nice and flat. All the pitches are hardstanding, so you can't go wrong. The wardens were extremely helpful and very friendly. The site is very well positioned with Minehead being within walking distance. There are several takeaways in Alcombe, just around the corner from the site. The fish and chips from Seafare were epic! There is a dog friendly beach at Dunster and Blue Anchor Bay. Dunster Castle is well worth a visit.

Immaculate

Stayed here earlier in May. Site is kept to exacting standards by the wardens ( and relief wardens while we were there ). Although on a main road and adjacent to the Fire Station, the site is tranquil, with little road noise noted Close to the amenities of Minehead for supplies ( Morrisons and Tesco both have a fuel station ) Central for touring the northern part of Somerset, with Lynton and Lynmouth close by. Porlock Wier is a pleasant place to pass an evening with it's pub producing good beer and home cooked food. Dunster and it's castle worth a visit. West Somerset Railway runs from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard through some outstanding countryside. Quantock Brewery Tap is just outside the station at Bishops Lydeard, and serves a fair pint of beer and cider - friendly and informative staff - enjoy.
