Immaculate site

The site is kept to an extremely high standard, with all facilities clean and in good order, with the staff really friendly and helpful. It was fairly quiet but right next to a good road so access was easy. We could walk in to Minehead, about a mile to the centre which has several pubs where you can eat. I'd definitely recommend and would stay again.

A lovely well maintained site

This was our first visit to this site and it certainly won't be our last as it's a lovely site. The wardens are very helpful and have lots of local knowledge regarding walking in the area. The site is well laid out and all the facilities are well maintained and spotlessly clean. Some of the pitches require levelling blocks, but none are very sloping. Although the site is on a busy road which can be a little noisy during the day, it was quiet at night. A lovely weekend at a lovely site - thank you!

Cleanest Toilets

Stayed in March. The staff were very friendly & informative about cycling in the area. Apparently safe, flat-ish cycling into Minehead & Dunster Castle & beach. The weather was too bad to cycle. Easy to walk into town. The toilet block has to be the cleanest I have ever seen - even all the pipes at the back of the loo were spotless. There is a Co-op, chippy & Indian restaurant very close by. There is a Wetherspoons in town but it was heaving on the Saturday afternoon we looked in. We will return if in that area.

Highly recommended

Well-placed to walk into Minehead within minutes, and good for visiting Dunster Castle, this site is small and quiet. Ramps may be needed on certain pitches because not all are perfectly level. That said, the husband and wife staff are helpfulness itself and a mine of useful information and tips, especially to newbies like us. The ptiches are generous and the toilets and shower rooms, if you need these, are spotless. Thorougly recommended but book well in advance because certain annual events in and around Minehead mean the site can be fully booked on certain weekends months in advance.

Small friendly site

Although a small site, Minehead has everything you require for a quiet peaceful stay, and to use as a base for getting around Someset/North Devon. The site is nicely landscaped - most of the pitches being nice & flat. There are no full service pitches. however, this is no big deal because as Minehead is a small site, everything is at hand anyhow within a short distance. The rear perimeter of the site has a steep bank of thick woodland ......in between the site and the A39, there is a wooded area for dog walking .......and at the entrance end of the site there is a small fire station next door. The staff are extremely friendly & helpful. They run a nice little shop from the office, and they run the site obviously well, as it's super clean, and maintained to a high level. The toilet/shower block is clean, and well looked after. You will find that maybe there are not as many cubicles as with other sites, so would imagine it gets full quick when the site is full (which I am told is quite often). We walked into Minehead, which took approximately 25 minutes. Next day we walked into Dunster village using the scenic back lanes, and that took approximately 35 minutes. You can use local buses to get further afield, such as Porlock, Taunton, Lynton & Lyndmouth, Watchet, Bridgewater etc. There is a good selection of local shops by the site, in Alcombe, such as Fish & Chip shops, Indian and Chinese food, Newsagents, Co-Op store - you will not want for anything. We heard good things about the site & area, and we were not disappointed - we will return !!

Recent visit again to Minehead

Minehead is one of our favourite sites, it Is a site that despite being close to a town still feels a little rural and quiet. The site is well laid out and the upgrade on the facilities makes the feel a whole let better. The warden team work very hard to make everything just right for visitors to the site, a big thank you to them for their labours. Another reason to visit this site, is that there is stuff to do if the weather is not good, and boy this time it was not brilliant. Sadly the steam railway is closed for an upgrade, left something missing from the town, but open again shortly. Discovered the Somerset Museum in Taunton, a really interesting to place to visit if the weather is not good. Gives a good picture of the history of Somerset. You can easily get there on the bus to, there is a regular service from Minehead. The food in the café there is great, one of the best bacon baps I have tasted in years, the bread was warm and there was a good amount of bacon, the cakes are great too, thoroughly recommend a visit there

Great site

This is a lovely site with just one problem for us which was levelling the caravan. It was impossible to level our caravan when backed onto the pitch but fortunately the warden suggested putting it sideways which was an improvement. This would not deter us from visiting the site at a later date. The wardens are really good and the facilities are immaculate. We liked the beach at Dunster for walking the dogs. This is a really good site which luckily is open all year.

A good introduction to caravanning

Took our first van for our first night to Minehead last weekend. The site was clean, tidy and quiet. We had a lovely welcome to the site which gave a positive impression of the Caravan and Motorhome club. The toilet block was most impressive all looked new and very clean indeed. The 20 min walk to the seafront for chips by the sea was perfect. Will go back again for sure.

Bright and Pleasant Site

This site is directly accessible off the A39 which is a godsend - no messing about akobg narrow lanes! The site itself is well laid out and whilst there maybe sone levelling issues with sone of the ptches i have never felt the need to use blocks. The toilet block is kept immaculate and is central to all pitches which are all well maintained. Minehead town centre is a ten minute walk away and has some unusual and interesting shops to browse. The seafront is close by.. Tesco, Morrison's and Lidl are a five minute drive away and a Co-op is almost on the doorstep. Bus routes can take you to Taunton, Watchett and Dunster. This is a great little site with helpful and pleasant wardens and is even better because it is open all year.

Well done

We have just had 3 active days at Minehead where there is plenty to do. If you visit Dunster Castle be prepared to spend the whole day if you take in the tours and the watermill. The site is a credit to the pleasant wardens who gave us a warm welcome. The club has a reputation for high standards of their sites but this site is outstanding. The hardstanding pitches are free from weeds and have a crisp clear edge which gives the site a pristine look. The toilet and shower block is fresh, bright and spotlessly clean as are the service points. Well done!!
