Yes you can hear the A1 (even though there are huge earthworks to shield the site) especially if the wind is blowing in the wrong direction but don't let that put you off. The site is beautifully maintained and clean. Pitch 71 is huge and has a great view over the trees and the fishing lakes. The staff are friendly and we've never had a problem leaving late on Sundays. Thank you. In close-ish proximity - the delights of Newark, Lincoln and Nottingham and all they have to offer.
Great place for a break
This site is very close to where our Son and his Family Live, we have tried a few other sites in the area, and this is without doubt the best, a little close to the A1 for the background traffic noise 'Hum'. But the large Earthbank shields most of it. Lovely little fishing lakes and walks, places to sit, plenty of Dog walks, Good (not great) showers and Toilet Block, could probably do with updating to Club standards. Run very closely to Club Rules in terms of Pitch Allocation, which we like. ie You pick from what is Empty/available.
Nice Location, Not what you expect
We are 2 adults and 1 toddler that stayed at the Milestones site Earlier this year. I had read that you could hear motorway noise and saw very mixed reviews so I was a little apprehensive. There was no need to be. The Site was beautiful and well maintained and the staff very friendly. The site was a lot bigger than I was expecting with a lovely lake in the middle. Although you could hear the motorway noise, you honestly don't notice it. It was a good location to have a trip in to Lincoln which was lovely. We stayed for a weekend and I cant fault it.
Excellent Site
Stayed for 2 nights, friendly staff, nice location with slight noise from A1 and trains but nothing to worry about, the whole site impeccably clean and tidy. Nice fishing lake, will definitely return soon
It's ok but !
We returned to milestone this weekend after about four years, we did not stop going because of anything at the site but simply because of a more local site that was more convenient for us.
This weekend we stayed at the site for two nights, driving home we tried to decide wether we would return, and decided probably not. It's a site that has become very mixed with its identity, it's a touring site, with owner cabins on, with a lot of seasonal pitches with part time occupancy, we pitched next to a van with a outlook of a white transit van parked next to.
It's a lovely site in not too bad a location, great toilets ( not sure about the timed flow showers ) wardens very polite and helpful. This isn't a complaint it's a simple confused visitor. If your looking for a stop over its ideal, if your looking for a weeks holiday well, I would think twice. Sorry owners but I came away confused.
