One of my favourite sites

Spent the week here, what a gem of a CMC affiliated site, the weather certainly helped too. The site itself is in a great location just off the A1 and a perfect place to stop over if you are travelling long distance from Nortn to South or vice versa. The new wardens are great, very friendly welcome and unlike some other reviews received my email confirmation straight away after booking. The site is immaculately kept, some of the pitches are extremely large, some with there own grass areas too and some nice ones overlooking the lake, which seems to be very popular with the fishermen. You can, in fact, book specific pitches now so the lakeside ones get snapped up. Having had a walk around most of the pitches are great anyway, mostly hard standing but a number of grass ones too, I booked a hardstanding with grass behind, perfect. The showers and toilets are very clean, plenty of free hot water. There is even a laundry and a dog shower room with hot and cold water. I walked the dog walk, even though I don’t have a dog and also walked to Cromwell lock, which is worth a visit. Yes, the site is close to the A1 and you can hear it, but it’s more of a hum in the background which I found I tuned out of, never stopped me getting a good nights sleep either. It’s a great site too if you wish to visit Newark, Lincoln, Nottingham or Sherwood Forest.

One night stop over

We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful warden Our hard standing pitch was near the exit barrier/ water. This meant people walking across our pitch on a regular basis. Because I assume they were too lazy to walk round. The site is very well cared for and does indeed have a good dog walk. Unfortunately the noise from the A1 is loud and constant and I’m hard of hearing, still enough people use the site for long stays/seasonal. As a stop over to break a journey it’s ideal.

Latest bad reviews are inaccurate misleading and unhelpful

I searched for a last minute booking in this area and was put off by the latest negative reviews. (4th and 6th June 2018) Fortunately all other sites were fully booked so we had no other options. I was profoundly impressed by the conditions at the site both in landscaping with large pitches and immaculate toilet facilities. The faint noise from the A1 is hardly detectable and if people walking past your outfit is a problem then surely a Club, Caravan or other is not for you. I had failed to spot the many other positive reviews which are not immediately visible.

Noisy site. No peace.

Arrived on a Friday night lots of people and noise from the A1 . People walking dogs and going fishing and walking to the loo passed my caravan and glaring in as they passed this went on for the whole weekend. Very unfriendly site and people running it. Will not stay again.

booking procedure

To book this site you have to ring and leave a deposit of £20 which is fine but despite asking twice no receipt of confirmation of our booking has been received, I am not at all comfortable with this procedure and only hope that on my arrival they do have my booking as I have only my bank statement as confirmation at the moment. I hope to be able to post a more positive review after I have arrived as this is not getting off to a good start.

Good for a stopover close to A1

Stayed here for two nights (fri/sat). upon arrival I was greeted by a lovely person in reception who was very friendly. We pitched up and it wasn't long before you realise the site is a tale of two halves, (we were in the middle). The section near reception has holidaymakers on pitch, the second half (just past the storage compound) seems covered with either residential's or seasonal tourers, who drive up and down at least 5 times a day and walk there dog every hour to be nosey on site and as they pass you they stare into your caravan. All in all makes you feel uncomfortable. The sire itself is lanscaped beautifully and dog walking from site is great. As it's very close to the A1 you can hear the traffic but this didn't stop us having a good nights sleep.

revisited

came back for new year break nothing compares to this lovely site toilet and shower block was warm and spotless plenty of hot water.....we had problems with our caravan tap which had frozen before we arrived and sprung a leak the site owners were very helpful in trying to get us up and running again, this site has in our eyes has got to be one of the best sites around. many of people have put reviews showing concerns about traffic noise from A1 ......yes but as we stated before it did not disturb our sleep and is a minor issue the cleanliness of the site far outweighs the A1 traffic ....we are going to book yet again for our next break

Perfect for a one night stop off

Just off the A1 so perfect for a overnight stay to break up a journey. Wouldn't like to be staying here for more than a couple of days saying that staff were lovely and there are some nice little walks within the campsite around the fishing lakes. Local brewery next door to site. Slight drone from the A1 and rail tracks nearby but didn't bother us.

We Will Certainly Come Back

This was our first visit here ( we stayed Friday and Saturday nights) and we would certainly come back. The site is well laid out and we chose a pitch away from the immediate noise of the A1 and it was nice and peaceful. The pitches in our area were gravel ones and very spacious. You can go for a walk around the lakes and see the ducks and also the rabbits. Our toilet block only had one pot wash sink and a site this big should have at least 3. There could also be more showers. The wardens were all very friendly and we had a lovely relaxing time. Newark exceeded our expectations and is definitely worth a visit.
