Needed more assistant wardens

It's difficult to fault anything about the site but our arrival experience was not pleasant. We were in a queue of 5 or 6 vehicles trying to access the site. One unpleasant individual was trying to exit the site at the same time and due to the queue couldn't get off site. He then blew up at the poor soul who happened to be in front of his car. When we got inside Reception it transpired that one of the assistant wardens had been let go early for the season and the extra warden would normally be on "traffic duty" and this would have all been avoided. Other than that we had a great time and will be returning.

Relaxing

A lovely site the wardens tended the vacant areas as soon as vans moved out. Extremely easy to access more sites should use the traffic light method saves all worries. Wardens helpful and advice on areas given when requested. This site has enough room to offer more amenities it would be worth any extra needed to cover costs. Pool and clubhouse would work well a few people we spoke to also thought it would work here.

excellent yet again

This is the third visit to this great site, yet again it was an enjoyable stay.We had a hardstanding pitch which we were very grateful for as we have a larger motorhome & the one night we had torrential rain along with thunder & lightning for a number of hours. The wardens are very friendly & helpful working hard to keep a very busy site pristine. One gripe though ...... & this is not the site's fault .... hubby tells me that the gents facilities were (before cleaning time) found disgustingly filthy on more than one occasion ..... come on guys clean up after you! There were no children on site so you can't even blame them! Excellent site with loads of walking for us & the doggies, will definitely return again.

Back Again

As other members mentioned this year the site was extremely busy and full during our stay.  It does make the whole site appear very crowded with the minimum distance still adhered to but more spacing would be better.  We were extremely lucky to get a hard-standing pitch, there were only a few available on the day of our arrival.  The weather was not at it’s best but a day out at Pendennis Castle with lunch at their café (via King Harry Ferry) was a treat.  We can recommend the ‘Fish & Chips Van’ that visited the site on Friday.  The wardens, as always, were very friendly and work non stop keeping the site looking good and the toilet block immaculate.

Merrose

Just spent a week at Merrose it was so peaceful the wardens and staff do an excellent job in keeping the site and facilities tidy and clean The farm across the fields that do meals was an excellent bonus for walking the dogs and a coffee stop half way as was Pendower beach. Can recommend the pub in Philleigh a good meal and home brewed beer well worth a visit. Can't really comment on family as we have no kids but it has a large play area

Merrose

A well set out site. We were there after the schools had returned, so hardly any noise, we were by the play park, funny not seeing kids at play. Very dedicated staff who kept the site well maintained. Only one thing annoyed me, irresponsible dog owners who could not be bothered to tidy up after their dogs along the Dog Walking area, we tidy up after our dog, there is no excuse, if caught, these people should be banned from caravan sites for life. We had 4 days on site and, got around the local area, ate in the Plume of Feathers, Portscatho, a little pricey but well worth it as food we first class. My wife would consider leaving the caravan on site and just visit, would stay there again.

Great Location

With the schools now having gone back we decided to have a quick week away in Cornwall. Well we have just returned from an enjoyable weeks stay at this site having had a great time exploring the Roseland Penninsula. The site is very well maintained by the wardens and its location is very good. However it appears that the pitch layout is too crowded, especially as the site was literally 100% full for most of the time we were there. Furthermore I wasn't quite sure why all of the pitches were the same price despite the fact that some were considerably more desirable than others. In the week we were there I dont think I ever noticed any of the hardstanding pitches become available and as we were down in a corner in what can only be described as a damp area at best. Still we had a good time and may return but would be careful to try and pick a quieter period

Great site, great location

Avoiding Schools hols we found the site with loads of space, plenty of spacious grass or hard standings available. Well kept in a great quiet location with easy access to St Mawes and smaller villages. be aware that there are groups of Large trees so if you want good sunshine you need to pick you pitch carefully to avoid shade all day.

Too crowded : and sloping

Wardens good : feel sorry for them. There are far too many pitches and we felt completely boxed in. We are on grass because all hard standings full - hard standings look OK but grass pitches small and crowded. How can they be the same price? Also handbook does not say levelling blocks required. I estimate (conservatively) that 60% motorhomes require blocks : several to the highest possible level. Very disappointed. Came to get away from 'crowding' but failed.
