Relax and unwind

Best site we've stayed on so far. Facilities were excellent. Staff happy to help at all times. Good for a relaxing holiday for couples, families and dog lovers. Lovely walks from the camp site no need to drive if you choose not to. Would highly recommend .

A piece of heaven!

We arrived on 12th June for 9 nights having not been to Cornwall for many years. The directions were easy to follow & the idea of traffic lights at the enterance was a great idea. No having to dodge other caravans or motor homes. I was surprised how busy it was & having had a walk round decided on a grass pitch at the bottom not far from reception,169 I think. A lovely level pitch mowed & in perfect condition. A credit to the hard work of the wardens. Water/waste point opposite, brilliant. Information room was well stocked with loads of ideas. Papers were available to order which is one of our treats when we are away as we never seem to have the time to just sit back & read the paper at home. A well stocked office with bread, scones, milk cakes & ice creams. Fish & chip van comes 3 times a week. Very tasty. An oven baked pizza van comes on a Thursday. You do need to be prepared to wait a while for these but we felt it was well worth the wait...yummy. The wardens were very friendly & nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The dog walk was emaculate & kept short so your shoes didn't get soaked. There was never a problem whilst we were there with people not picking up after their dogs so that was a bonus. The toilet block again was emaculate, I personally like the radio, water was hot & the showers pretty powerful. Just up & across the road was a little farm shop where you could buy fresh crab & fruit & veg which was very handy. A short walk took you to the coastal path & either direction brought you to two lovely beaches both with refreshment facilities where dogs were welcome. A short drive took you to The Lost Gardens of Heligan ( 2 for 1 with a club voucher) where dogs were welcome or if you took the King Harry Ferry (pick up a voucher from the office for a discount) you could visit Tresslick (Nat Trust) or a bit further Trebah gardens (again dogs were made to feel very welcome). lovely ice cream. We made the trip down to the Minack Theatre near Lands End, if you fancy the drive it's well worth it. Also visited The Tate at St. Ives (umm...not too sure) & Barbara Hepworth sculpture park which was lovely (you can get a combined ticket for these). As you can tell we had a fantastic time & wished we could of stayed.....roll on next year, Well done wardens for a great job! Keep up the good work

We couldn't have asked for anything more.

We usually find a CL for our Cornwall holiday but we booked late this year so decided upon a Club site. We were delighted with our choice. The site is very well kept - from the lovely short grass to the clean and pleasant facilities. Not quite full when we were there but I wouldn't think it would feel overcrowded in high season as pitches were on different levels and at different angles - not in straight lines. A fish & chip van calls into the site as does a pizza van and both seemed to be popular. The site is reached down a lane but no need to fear as the traffic light system gives you safe entry and exit to the site, brilliant!

All o.k. In the end

We were unfortunate enough to break down on the way and so had to be towed to the site, the wardens could not have been more helpful when we arrived. They even helped us out by getting some much needed provisions on one of their shopping trips. The site was lovely and surprisingly not really busy, we had a grass pitch that was level, only slight problem was that it was not really big enough, we overshot the marker (recovery team put caravan on) by just over a foot, Wardens let us stay put as it was empty where we were, but if we had had to move it forward the hitch would have been in the road !!! But overall experience was brilliant, as we had to walk we tried the coastal path to Portscatho, found the Hidden Hut and had lunch, a very popular little place and beautiful views, we took the King Harry ferry which saves about 27 miles round trip. St Mawes castle worth a visit as well. A well placed site for several English Heritage and National Trust places, Would go back again but would stick to off peak as it may be entirely different when it's full. Huge thanks again to all the wardens for all their help.

Motorhome Perfection

Just returned from a few days at this site before the half term holiday. Although it is a big site it is laid out in such a way that it doesn't feel crowded and there is a good selection of pitches, open, shady, grass etc.. The hardstanding pitches are very generous and ours was completely level. Although we did not have children with us we were particularly impressed by the excellent children's play area and the large grassy field In which they can kick a ball without fear of a telling off. The Wardens were friendly on the whole and very helpful, there was a very relaxed atmosphere which is not always the case on a club site. The location is very good for exploring the South Cornwall coast and if using the King Harry Ferry (cars and vans only) which is only a short drive away you can shorten the journey to Truro and Falmouth. Don't forget to collect your ferry voucher from Reception. For motorhomers without transport there is a bus stop conveniently located at the top of the lane, and for all those nervous of narrow Cornish lanes the entrance and exit from the site is controlled by traffic lights, more of these needed on other sites! We visited Trellisick House and Gardens which is located just the other side of the King Harry Ferry. A National Trust property it has some lovely walks and stunning views, there is the usual NT restaurant, shop, gallery and a large plant centre. You can easily pass the whole day exploring here. We also visited the Maritime Museum in Falmouth, this is a little disappointing, we thought, not terribly good value for money, having said that if you have children there is plenty to keep them occupied and learning something at the same time. Falmouth is always very buzzy with lots of choice for eateries and individual shops. All in all a very good trip, thank you Merrose Farm.

BEAUTIFUL SITE

It's a while since we visited this lovely site and it is still as pristine as we remembered. The pitches are very spacious - a selection of hard standing and grass pitches. The wardens work very hard to keep the site neat and tidy and the facilities blocks are spotless. The Fish and Chips and wood fired pizza options on site are an added bonus. The lovely village of St Mawes is only 5 miles away and as motorhomers, we found the bus stop outside the site entrance very useful. St Mawes Castle is a must see experience. Cafe Chandlers is a super little cafe serving hot and cold food which is delicious. There is also a little Co-Op where most provisions can be bought. From St Mawes you can take the ferry over to Falmouth which takes just 20 minutes. Do try and find the Hidden Hut on the hillside near Portscatho which serves amazing food in a spectacular setting. It took us a while to locate it, but it was worth the effort. The fish chowder was amazing!! All in all, a lovely site to visit and so peaceful in May outside of school holidays.

Beautifully kept site.

Merrose Farm is a very pretty and well kept site. It is peaceful and quiet with lots of trees, bushes and wild flowers. The toilet block etc are all clean, the showers are spacious , information hut is well stocked and the wardens are helpful and friendly. Fish and chips from the van on Friday evening were lovely-enormous portions! The childrens play park on site is one of the biggest/best I've ever seen on a club site. The area is great for walking, there's some very quiet and unspoilt beaches within a couple of miles walk. We visited Portscatho, Pendower beach, St Mawes, Truro, St Ives, Mevagissey and St Austell and loved them all for different reasons. I would totally recommend this site and area for a relaxing holiday off season (end of May).
