Wonderful site!

We always have an overnight here on our Scottish trip either north or south bound. It is a perfect site, clean, tidy and well kept. Delightful welcoming wardens. Everything in walking distance, dog walk, shops etc. Recommend Burts Hotel for good food.

A great location

Rarely do you find a site so close to a town - Co-op not even a minute away. The most amazing restaurant, Marmions, five minutes away. Lovely shops. And the viaduct, 5 mins drive away is amazing. Enough dog walking local too. The only downer is we fell the Caravan Club are being too draconian about allowing visitors. Not this site’s fault. We know how to manage risk and having a friend for dinner in our MoHo would not affect anyone else. A moan at CAMC not at this site.

As always, excellent, but slightly spoilt by inconsiderate few

Site wardens are excellent and friendly, and the site is superbly located within the town, with equally superb selection of eateries adjacent. The Covid safety provisions were clearly explained, and were very straightforward, with simple rubber band system for accessing toilet block, with very clear signage. Sadly on our stay there were a few who disregarded this, not simply one-off mistakes, but regular offenders, who when challenged, it was clear their misplaced sense of self-importance was matched only by their selfishness and disregard for fellow members. Given the demographic was in the main 55+, the most at risk group, I was somewhat staggered by this. Similar issue with dogs fouling on the grassy area adjacent to our awning. Not had this problem on this site before, so not sure why on this occasion a small number of members were somewhat more inconsiderate than is usual on Club sites. This said, the plusses very much outweigh the negatives, and we will most certainly visit again.

One nighter in August

We stayed here for one night at the end of August. Site was nice and tidy and the Warden was very polite and helpful. Bathroom facilities were restricted and only allowed two in at a time - by way of wristbands - this seemed to work well unless someone forgets to pick up their wristband on the way out (giving the impression that they are still in thee facilities). Site was very well located with a Co-op at the entrance to the site and only a couple of minutes walk from town centre. Would definitely come back for a longer stay to explore a bit further afield.

Great site

We had a great week at Melrose with other family members, even though it rained every day! The site is in the middle of the town, and has a Co-op store just across the road from the main gate. There’s some nice pubs and restaurants in the town, but we would thoroughly recommend The Provender restaurant! The food is to die for! The shower block is very clean, apart from when some people can’t be bothered to use the squeegee after they’ve showered!! However, the showers do have a look of being somewhat tired and worn now. We stayed on pitch no.19 which flooded at the back during the heavy rain. Consequently, the back of our awning was under about an inch of water for a good part of the week. It could do with being built up. Overall, we had a great time at Melrose Gibson. It’s perfectly located in an area with lots of hiking and cycling opportunities. We will definitely be staying again!

Fab site

Love this site, as do many others as it is difficult to get in at times. Had a fully service pitch. Facilities are excellent but the main benefit of this site is its proximity to the lovely little town of Melrose. We stayed 6 nights, enjoyed it all apart from a very poor meal at Marmions.

Lovely site

A lovely site on the edge of the town - it was great to be able to walk into the town within 5 minutes! Nice spacious pitches. I did find the wardens a little officious - as I drove too far forward at the entrance by mistake and got told off - although I suppose they're only doing their job. Lots to see and do in the area. Would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

Perfect start for our first outing, except for the storm. Good winter venue

Selected this site as we were looking for somewhere open in February and not too far from home for our very first campervan adventure. The site is small but perfectly located in the very centre of Melrose with easy access to pubs and restaurants, and the supermarket. The owners were lovely and extremely helpful. When they learned it was our first time out and with a toddler they bent over backwards to help us settle in and give us the advice we needed. They even russled up an old gas canister we could use to get on the exchange. Storm Ciara meant we didn't get the chance to enjoy the surroundings but we did enjoy the pubs. Recommended for a winter location.

Quality all round

Great site right in the heart of this lovely, upmarket little town. Locals are very friendly and seem to genuinely appreciate having visitors around spending money in their shops and cafes. Can’t fault a thing.
