Toilets and showers needing tlc

Lovely clean site ' friendly staff. Ideally situated in Melrose which is lovely. Only complaint is that the toilets and showers could really do with a bit of tlc. They are getting tired. The wardens do keep them clean but Wetwall in showers tired and warping in places. This wouldn't stop us from going back to this little gem.

My Favourite Site

We have visited this site regularly over the last 4 years. I cannot speak highly enough of the care the staff take to look after us and the beautiful site. I look forward to our visits and feel very relaxed when I’m here. Thank you so much.

First complaint in 20 years

Never had any problems with this site and we have used it for almost 20 years. Spent 6 days over Christmas this year and on the whole the site was kept tidy and clean. My gripe is that this time the wardens allowed a fully serviced pitch to be “held” for a friend of another member for 4 days. A table and electric cable were left on said pitch making it look like a motorhome was using the pitch. Fully serviced pitches are limited at Melrose and it was unfair on the other members that arrived during those 4 days that they could not access that pitch.

Great location, lovely site

We stayed here twice to break up journeys to Edinburgh. Lovely welcome from site staff on both occasions. Facilities were clean and well maintained. Site itself is nice and quiet however there is a school and sports field nearby. This site is in a lovely location within easy walk of Melrose Town centre with a small number of restaurants and bars which makes this a great all year round site. Well worth a visit and have already booked to go back there next month.

Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay here for 21 nights, late September/October. Upon our arrival, we had a lovely welcome from Maggie, who with her husband, work very hard to keep the site and it’s facilities in excellent order. The site is within the town of Melrose, which has a Co-op at the entrance to the site, and amongst other shops, an excellent butcher, and an excellent bakery. Melrose sits in a beautiful area with other lovely towns, and other interesting attractions nearby. Highly recommended.

One of my favourite sites

Stayed there in October 21 for 5 nights. As usual, really nice and friendly wardens and the site is maintained impeccably. Spotless facilities which were never really busy despite the site being full when I stayed. A co-op on the doorstep, and Melrose has a cracking traditional High St with some great shops, certainly enough variety for anyone. On the friday, there was even a senior game on at the Rugby ground across the road which can be watched from the pavement. Great walking (with the dogs in my case) direct from the site along the Tweed or up the nearby Eildon Hills. Just a fantastic place to stay.

Excellent site

We stayed at this site for three nights at the end of a tour of Scotland. The site was very busy with few spare pitches but we were very happy with the one we chose. Warm welcome from one of the friendly wardens, spotless facilities. Good area for walking and places of interest nearby. We hope to return.

Always excellent

9 day stay at the beginning of September. Extremely welcoming and friendly wardens. Site is always busy, and rarely not full, so early booking recommended. Facilities are always immaculate. Loads of walks from the site, and we highly recommend a trip to the local charity shop on the left just down from the site, which stocks a book on local walks from Melrose (extracts can be seen in the info room). This has some lovely walks along the Tweed or up into the Eldon Hills. As everyone has said, the site is on the edge of the town, opposite the historic rugby club. The are plenty of pubs and eateries, but the Kings stood out for us this trip, being under new ownership since our last visit. Very friendly with excellent beer and food. The only slight annoyance was that balls were frequently kicked over the hedge from the adjacent school field, on occasion bouncing off outfits. We are not talking beachballs here, and the Club should perhaps negotiate with the school to erect netting along the hedge to prevent this. During our stay it was pretty much a daily occurrence. There is also some inevitable noise at playtimes and PE sessions, plus some noise from the adjacent recycling bins in the car park. Overall however, this is always a very good site, and we will be returning.

It very much depend which pitch you are on!

I have read all the good reviews for this site and it certainly is extremely convenient for the town centre and the supermarket, but it very much depends on where you are on site! We have paid the same price as others with awnings, but have had to accept a pitch on tarmac which backs on to a car park with a bottle bank. We can only assume that Melrose residents are keen recyclers, but even better drinkers. The noise from parents parking in the carpark just over the fence, banging doors, children shouting from 8am needs to be highlighted . In short…do book a pitch with awning space. We weren’t able to,despite booking months ago. We can’t comment on the wardens as we haven’t seen them.

Beautiful location, clean services, friendly staff

Situated right in Melrose which is a beautiful village. Easy walking distance to the shops, pubs and restaurants. Clean and excellent facilities as we always come to expect from Caravan Club sites. Wasn't too far to the local rugby ground, so we watched a great match. Lovely kids park within walking distance. Great location for the amazing Glentress bike park.
