Lovely site

Did a 1 night stop over here on way to the Fringe. Directions were excellent and site was virtually in the town so no car needed for a night out. Pubs are friendly and dogs are welcome in them. Good fish and chip shop in the town too. Well situated for walks and cycle tracks and for visit to Jedburgh and other sites of interest. Some pitches were nicer than others but that is the nature of being so close to built up areas. Dog walk on site too although there are plenty of places to go with dogs all around. Will return to take advantage of walking.

Great site if you don’t end up on the Tarmac pitches

This site could not be more perfectly positioned, close to Melrose high street, a Coop at the end of the drive, and the River Tweed five minutes away for walker and dogs… the only drawback is the handful of Tarmac pitches situated behind reception, which we ended up on for one night after arriving at 5pm on a Friday. We were fairly relaxed about this but it is unfair having to cough up the same amount for what has been accurately described in previous reviews as being like a car park. Luckily we were able to move on to a proper pitch the following day so all was not lost. The wardens are lovely and the facilities are fine - though maybe we should have expected more for the price, but we will be back and next time will arrive earlier!

Lovely Site got everything

The wardens are very nice, friendly and helpful, and go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one. Ideally situated, Coop just at end of the road into the site. Loads of walks in beautiful scenery. Will be back soon loads more to see.

Over priced tarmac pitch

POSITIVES. Great location for walking into Melrose, walking by the river, local attractions, cycling etc. Good quality facilities and helpful wardens. NEGATIVES...charging £38.40 for a small tarmac pitch next to the public car park and the Melrose Bottle Bank. Very noisy especially on collection day for the bottle bank. MORAL... Do not book a pitch without awning as you may end up on the tarmac area. If only need to stay in Melrose for one night you may as well stay in the public car park for free.

Pitch disappointment - to put it mildly

Great location, thought we had taken a wrong turn, as we drove down the High Street, but no, there was the little sign. Melrose is lovely, the Abby, places to eat and independent shops and a good sized Co-Op at the entrance. However, the facilities on site desperately need an update, especially the showers and the little stool in the shower needs to go. If you are unlucky, like we were, you will get a pitch around the back of Reception, they are tarmac, it looked and felt like we were pitched in a car park. Pitching between two wooden markers, meant we had nowhere to sit, I suspect these pitches are for Motorhomes (smaller models) and camper vans, who are staying for one night, we have a caravan and had booked for 4 nights. Be aware, these pitches are the same price as all the other lovely grass and hard standing pitches, I went to Reception and checked, we paid £32 per night. If we had not just had a five and a half hour journey, we would have left. You may ask why we choose the pitch, we didn’t, we were told that was our pitch. Would we go back? No, we would be worried we would end up on pitch 8 again.

Location and wardens 10/10, value for money 4/10

Must be one of the best located club sites for its position just off the high street. Chose it for this reason to explore Melrose and surrounds. Melrose is a lovely town with excellent shops, especially baker and butcher, cafes, pubs, cultural sites and riverside walks. Abbotsford is well worth visiting to see the house and walk through the estate by the river. Warden was very helpful. There are negatives. £38.00 a night is very expensive for a site with basic facilities. Happy to be on a standard pitch as don’t require a services pitch but £38.00 for a patch of hard standing, outdated facilities and no wifi is a lot of money. Cls can provide this for a lot less. The site is noisy which you expect being by a popular park and tennis club but also noise on the site from inconsiderate users playing music whilst sitting outside. I would maybe return for a night to revisit the lovely town but would also investigate local cls and then pay to park in town. Lack of free wifi is a big personal gripe. Most organisations and private sites now offer this.

Great Site. Great staff.

Great location right within the town. The staff are very hard working and never seem to be off the go. They are always helpfull and very pleasant to deal with. The toilets are a bit dated but always clean and tidy. It's our go to place because of the aforementioned reasons.

Lovely site with great facilities nearby to enjoy

Just back from a week in Melrose and had a fabulous time. Site is clean, quiet and well looked after, staff are friendly and helpful. Showers were lovely and warm with free flowing water, no button to keep pushing in! Best buy was the £2 Paths around Melrose book from reception which we trail ran throughout the week, easy access to all the town facilities, co op nearby and lots of places to eat out, walks along the river tweed and up the Eildon hills. We visited nearby abbeys and also Abbotsford the home of Walter Scott. Also spent a day on Lindisfarne which was great. Our visit coincided with the Borders Book Festival, an unexpected delight and we were still able to get tickets for various talks. Looking forward to booking again!

Another great visit.

Our first visit in three years due to the pandemic but the site is still one of the best in our experience with excellent wardens, a very tidy site, clean facilities and so close to the town itself. While the site hasn’t changed Melrose has, there are new cafes and takeaways, and best of all an ebike hire shop. Plenty of local cycle trails and routes which are in a number of leaflets for the local towns and villages in the information room. Speed limits in towns and villages are now all at 20mph. The only slight negative outside the site is that the local Abbeys are now restricted to the ground around them due to ongoing safety checks which look to be on for some time. Recommend Rhymers Fayre for small meals snacks and Marmions for dinner. Can't wait to go back.
