Another excellent stay

Another very good stay at one of our favourite sites. The friendly hard working wardens ensured that the site was kept very tidy and clean and to the usual high club standards. The site is actually in the centre of Melrose and there are plenty of pubs, restaurants, coffee shops and takeaways to suit all needs and pockets. Quite a few offer 10% discounts for club members, details of which are in the information room. The Kings Arms was good but we found Marmions Brasserie the best for evening meals while Rymer's fare good for teas and snacks. We noted some new things for this visit. Opposite the rugby club there is a new larger Co-op being built on the old petrol station site. Also we were very impressed with the new railway station at Tweedbank for trains to Edinburgh. There is free parking and you could walk there from the site. For families there is new playground equipment on the adjacent playground and playing fields. The site is very quiet and we can't wait for our return visit

Always keen to return

Recently returned from another visit to Gibson Park and as always thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Location is perfect with shops etc. a short stroll away plus many fine walks to suit most abilities. The site as expected is kept to a high standard by the friendly and helpful wardens. On this occasion I have only awarded four stars on "Facilities and cleanliness" cleanliness is absolutely fine but in my opinion the facilities are starting to show their age especially compared to many others in the club and with only three washing up sinks situated in an area where the wind whistles through and this on a site which is open all year is not ideal. Obviously an extremely difficult call for the club as to how and when any update would take place.

Return visit

We enjoyed our return visit to Melrose and very lucky with the weather. Unfortunately some building noise due to. we believe, a supermarket being built. Fortunately it didn't spoil our stay as we were out most days and the builders gone on our return. Always a well kept site and friendly wardens. Thank you

Direction Signs

As usual we thoroughly enjoyed our recent 16 night stay at Gibson Park. However, I have one, hopefully constructive, comment to make. As on many sites there is a one way traffic system in operation at Gibson Park. Unfortunately, due to the fact that it is not practical to erect permanent NO ENTRY or other directional signs because of the requirement for units to manoeuvre we have witnessed many times on our visits vehicles going the wrong way. This is often not the fault of the drivers but lack of visibility of signing. I would suggest that NO ENTRY and other directional guides be painted on the roads at the strategic points. Incidentally, I have been on the same pitch as 'Captain Nog' (pitches 1 & 2) a few times, and for more than one night, and the incidence of tennis balls coming across is very minimal.

Beware Tennis Balls

I accept that We may have been unlucky with our stop over. There were not many pitches to choose from and as it was a one night stay we chose one near the gate. Its a nice site but be warned; What we were not told about was the Tennis Courts next door. from Late afternoon an enthusiastic coach shouted continually at his students. Then the courts filled up with the 'boing' of tennis balls going to 1030 pm ish and the floodlights were on above our unit till after that. To cap it all balls kept flying over into the site, obviously a regular occurrence as there is a special gate they use to retrieve them. Don't think we will be going back.

Perfect Break

We love this site for its convenience and attractive layout. The flowers by the friendly hardworking wardens are beautiful. Melrose and the surrounding area are attractive. The only problem is, it is so busy you have to book well in advance.

Excellent facility

Recomendationed by friends we were not disappointed by this site. It cannot be faulted especially the nearness to the town and shops. Very quiet in the evening and some excellent evening walks for the dog. We are very familiar with Melrose and it was lovely to be back. The tour of the town and the surrounding countryside from the information centre was a great way to spend a sunny afternoon.

First Time in Melrose

Found the site very easily. Land mark is the Rugby Club and on entering Melrose you turn right into the site opposite the Rugby field. Short walk into town is ideal. Plenty of shops and hostelries. The butchers is very good. Looking forward to our next stay. Thank you to the site staff

site is dated

We have visited this site more times than I can say. This varies from year to year and we find it very accessible. We have spent many Christmases and new years here. All the wardens are very helpful and friendly nothing is to much trouble. The only down side is that this site needs a make over. The tv reception is limited on freeview even on the site ariel, the fully serviced pitches are to close to one another especially the fact that you are paying more to stay on these. There is approx 2ft of grass between each van. Its a shame as the site is in a super location. So come on caravan club upgrade this very popular site .

Good location

Stayed at this site twice now and can thoroughly recommend it. The facilities are all very clean and well maintained as you would expect. The wardens were very pleasant and approachable. The site is right next to the town which has all the necessary shops that you may need. All of the pubs are dog friendly and welcoming, good food served too (with a 10% discount in some pubs for CC members). Tennis courts are adjacent to the site and can be used by CC members. Looking forward to our next visit already.
