New shops and restaurants in town

Our favourite club site now and we have been coming here for many years, the wardens and site still excellent, the site is right in the town, next to a good Co-op, good cafes and eateries and a whole day can be spent from the site itself and the site is getting more an more popular each year. A few changes in the town from our last visit in early November. There is a new restaurant very close to the site, literally a few minutes walk, called Provender which got good reviews in the information room and it was very good indeed. It is a little pricier than some but you also get 15% discount with your membership card. Sadly the King's Arm has closed and has been for a while. A few new shops opened and the old Co-op has been taken over by Chest and Heart Scotland charity shop and it's old smaller shop closed. Lots to do in the surrounding area too with larger supermarkets in nearby Galashields. The train from Tweedbank to Edinburgh is very good with free parking. Playground next door, and a tennis club and large playing fields complete the appeal. An excellent site all round.

Facilities getting tired?

I have mentioned before that the toilet block is becoming tired. The wardens do a fantastic job, and there is no complaint re cleanliness, but a refurb is needed. Failing that some minor repair work, particularly to the grouting etc would make a difference. Mould on grouting/silicone joints is very unsightly , and probably looks a lot more unhygienic than it is. However this remains an excellent site in many respects.

a nice smaller site

I enjoyed my 2 nights at Melrose as there was good dog walking from the site which is situated next to a co-op and a short walk into the town for everything I needed. Would go again

Great location close to restaurants and attractions

Melrose is a lovely little town with almost all its shops and businesses being independently owned. Bookshop, interiors shop, greengrocers, butchers, fishmongers, gift shops all there. A good selection of restaurants, cafes and pubs within just a few minutes walk of the site plus a small supermarket just at the site entrance. The site is up to the usual high Club standards and is right next door to a play park and tennis courts. Brilliant for a weekend break.

Lovely site, great wardens

Great site, right in the centre of Melrose. Facilities are spotless. Wardens are very friendly and helpful, and seem to want to do anything for you, and always seem to be doing something.

Very Good Weekend break

My wife and I enjoyed our weekend in Melrose, very much in the centre of things in Melrose opposite the rugby ground, close to the shops hotels and restaurants. We spent the weekend walking and relaxing with our Westie dog who was also welcomed by the owners of the campsite We walked over the suspension bridge to The Hoe Bridge Restaurant on Saturday night, having pre booked, it was as good as a Michelin Star restaurant experience. We will be back.

Brilliant Wardens

Mel and Bev Two wardens that the club can be proud of. Nothing too much trouble and always a smile and conversation. Had to cut our visit short this time but will be back as this is one of the jewels in the clubs crown that we have visited quite a number of times.. Meg and John Blakey

Brilliant wardens Bev & Mel

1st time at this brilliant site, very dog friendly and great location. Site wardens were a credit to the caravan & motorhome club, my husband was taken to hospital and the help and reassurance they gave was exceptional. Thank you for the support will use the club again. Brenda & Mick Jones
