Happy Halloween

We have just stayed here over halloween weekend and found it very enjoyable. The wardens went to great lengths to organise and decorate the site for the kids ( and adults!). Very clean site, very pleasant staff and beautiful surroundings.  Well worth a visit.

First Class

Our first visit, recently staying for 4-nights and we were very fortunate to have spent some time chatting with the Wardens, who couldn't have been more helpful or informative. They are obviously very proud of their site - as they should be. Although virtually full (half-term) it was very peaceful and the toilet & shower block were spotlessly clean. A great location for visits around the south of The Lakes. Although we don't have young children, the Assistant Wardens were busy planning activities for the forthcoming Halloween night. We will definitely be returning here!

Weekend break

Another lovely break on Meathop,  pitches are clean and of a good size, most under trees, toilets are very clean and well laid out, wardens very friendly and have a initiative ways for raising charity money...all good fun. Entrance Road is quite tight in places and there is no security barrier. Maybe more entertainment for older children could be looked at, eg table tennis or bouls court. Site is well placed for sight-seeing.  met some old friends on my stay which was nice to catch up with them. Will visit again next year all being well.

Superb site

Great site, warm friendly welcome from the warden. Very helpful indeed and as others have said the facilities are spotless. You can tell there is a good team working here. Lots of places nearby to visit and the walk along the coast in Grange over Sands is easy and interesting. Can't wait to return !

Fantastic Site

WHat a fantastic site. We used a stop-over for 1 night, but wished it could have been more. Very warm welcome, great facilities all very modern and spotlessly clean. Wonderful site in terms of the range of pitch types available. If you wanted your own little leafy spot tucked away in a corner you could have it, but if you wanted something a bit more open these were also available. Great having the hotel/pub next door also. Would be a great base for exploring the lake district. Will be back for sure at some point in the future.

Good as ever

Have stayed in this site on the way to and from Scotland, the first time we booked for one night, and stayed for three, this time we booked for three nights and stayed for four. Enjoy the area, not just the Lakes but the little towns and villages, like Grange and Cartmel just up the road. Staff always welcoming and friendly and facilities as we have come to expect from CC sites. The walk into Grange will take a lot longer than the 20 minutes as advertised on the club info, but this is site we will return to.

We will be back

Visited recently for 9 nights. Wardens lovely, great location, 30 mins into the heart of the lake district. We usually abandon car once on site but weather was so good we felt obliged to drive north and climb some peaks, Fairfield horseshoe, Scafell Pike, the langdales, Coniston horseshoe, clear as a bell every day. On our off days we rode our tandem to Arnside and Silverdale 42 miles, and up to Wray Castle 43 miles round trips. On our lazy day we walked to Grange but by the time we had explored and collected a few geocaches we had still walked 10 miles by the time we got back to the van. Facilities at the site were superlative and neither of us had to wait to use then throughout our stay. Lots of exploring to do locally but given the superb weather  which forced us north we will have to return to make the most of it, shame. Heartily recommended
