Very nice site, but

We stayed on this site from the 4th April, should have been until the 13th but we left early because the site has problems with low voltage, every morning and most evenings we had problems with our fridge and other appliances , we spoke to the wardens who confirmed it was a recurring problem and had been reported on several occasions. We were not the only outfit to have problems, we spoke to several other people on site and they suffered the same problems as us. It was not because we were running several appliances at the same time.

R & Rat it's best

Brilliant site for that escape from the rush of modern life. Wensleydale is a beautiful valley Peaceful site, that's a tucked away haven with wildlife galore. Love the friendly peacock and ducks. Plenty of walks directly out from site with pubs, cafes, shops and restaurants just a stroll away in Leyburn. We will return.

Fantastic extended weekend away in pleasant surroundings

After reading the reviews a little apprehensive about this site. We could have not been any further from the truth if we had tried, this site is stunning and as the Warden stated quite quirky. We pitched at the top end of the site, as all the decent pitches as we thought were taken by the usual motorhomers, even the awning pitches which were not required by them, however our pitch had full TV reception, our mobile phones worked perfectly, and our WIFI had a full signal, so thanks to the Motorhomers we benefitted. Our pitch was almost level and benefitted from plenty of room for our awning and had a seperate car parking space. We were surrounded by good quiet neighbours, apart from the token nuisance folk with two large dogs left to bark uncontrolled, and a parrot in a cage (very strange). The access road was easy to negotiate, the site had installed convex mirrors in strategic places to allow ease of access. Easy walk into Leyburn. Site facilities are very good, no complaints. Will definitely revisit and request the same pitch again. Thank you

Nice relaxing four days with friends

This site is an unusual location in an old quarry. The pitches would benefit by being a bit deeper as long vans only just fit.Lovely helpful wardens ----as usual. Yes the facilities are not the full club standard but very adequate with very hot water and lovely and clean. The resident Peacock and the ducks will all feed from the hand. We had a trip to Kirkby Stephen on one day and were lucky enough to see Red Squirrels in the wild!!! This is a very peaceful site and one that we could recommend.

Desperately seeking TLC

This was my first visit to this site and spent 4 nights here over the Easter weekend. Upon arrival we were greeted by familiar friendly wardens who offered good advice and were always on hand as ever. Following a chat with another caravaner I learnt that the club didn't own the site but only managed it for the owners. This was certainly reflected in the standard of the site, it was not to the club standard that I we expect. Although very clean, the showers and toilets needed a full refurbishment and the roads were compacted stones and not the usual tarmac. The pitches weren't fully gravelled and didn't reach the road so due to poor weather cars and Motorhomes were wheel spinning and getting stuck, something that could easily have been avoided if the pitches were of the usual size and standard. Being high up and prone to wet weather and snow which is what we woke up to on Bank Holiday Monday, you would expect there to be a plough attachment for the small tractor to clear the snow for arrivals and departures but unfortunately not. Luckily there was a couple of keen men who cleared the main route out of the site and we cleared the area from our pitch to the road. I think arrivals should be moved back an hour to allow departures to leave with out meeting each other when you get people arriving early and meeting in the non passible road. On the plus side it is very scenic and quiet with plenty of walks for those who enjoy walking. I don't think that this site should be advertised as a club site unless someone spends some money and bring it up to the standard it should be. Sorry but I will not be returning unless something is done here.

Quiet with great walks nearby

This site is quiet, located near some great walks with plenty of pubs. But, quite a few of the pitches are not level, I saw quite a few caravans with legs fully extended and on 2-3 blocks. The roads have quite a few pot holes which retain water sometimes right across the road. The TV signal is poor lower on the site. But a move higher in the quarry resolved that. Staff are great.

Plenty of ducks but no Radio

An odd layout of a site but lovely location - the weather was on our side so that helped. A good base for 2 days of exploring, we were lucky with a steam train and a nearby secret waterfall. The facilities were ok - fairly standard for a club site. No radio

A Quirky but Superb Site

A great site right in the middle of everything that Yorkshire has to offer. Very friendly wardens which is a bonus. Take levelling blocks as some of the pitched are not flat (the E&P self levelling on our Buccaneer struggled to self level). Also please please take note of the wardens instruction on getting to the site and don't follow your SAT NAV for the last few miles. All in a SUPERB site, we will be back.

Great location and site

This is a great location and site with a good team running it. One weakness, no water taps for each plot - in these days, a water connection should be available for every caravan. Otherwise, all good and we will return when water is more accessible! Thanks John
