Great site but dussapointed by staff attitude

Arrived for a 5 night stay went there as friends from up country had booked so a chance to meet with friends, on arrival I can only describe I was spoken to as if being interrogated by a member of staff about whether my vw transporter had been conversion I say interrogated because I had to give the answer 3 times as if I was lying, I'm sorry but not everyone with a young family can afford a massive plush motor home or caravan, shortly after setting up which took about An hour I was approached by a warden who told me I'd have to move my entire set up 6 feet despite following instructions from the interrogator on arrival then said warden went and got back up from another warden who again chose to I interfere without offering a solid recommendation as to where I should be pitched, and finally again on another day the first warden came back and commented that I'm not allowed to plug in two powerleads to which I replied if you'd like to check I have only one lead plugged in! All in all as a new member I feel bitterly dissapointed by the sheer snobbery of the staff and it did leave a rather sour taste to my caravan club experience, shame as the site facillities and location are great. This is the second time I have joined the club the first being some years ago and I remember then feeling that campervans are not made to feel welcome, however I'm now camping again nr st mawes and at this site I'm pleased to say I havnt witnessed any of the above but will seriously consider renewing membership next yr.

Caravanner from Leeds

site was lovely, but not sure who on earth thought of putting the premium service pitches right next to the basketball court and play area. The noise starts at 0900 and finishes when its gets dark if your lucky.   We would go back no problems but would not go on a premium service pitch again.  Don't get me wrong we have a young child who used the soft play area, ITS JUST IN THE WRONG PLACE!!!!!! Caravan Club - you need to do something about this, everyone was complaining!!!!!!

Never again

We had booked three nights here but left after two. We had a super pitch and it was right in front of the children's play area. The noise was unbearable with kids playing football and skateboarding in front of the van. We couldn't sit out and eat for fear of a football hitting the table. The site was miles from anywhere in the middle of nowhere. The nearest supermarket was about Seven miles away and not a pub in site so no pub grub to enjoy. Having said all that the toilet and shower block was spotless. The wi fi was all but useless. We won't be back.

Happy days

Have just spent 10 days at Looe with my two grandchildren, we have all had a great time. The pool was a big success on the majority of days we used it more than once. The children loved the site and although it was busy it went quiet about 9.00 - 9.30 at night. We were on the bottom site and the toilets, washing up facility and laundry were all fine, no problems. We found all the wardens very friendly and helpful, it was my grandaughter's first caravan holiday and she loved waiving to the wardens as they went around the site and felt very grown up going to the shop on her own for my morning paper. I was apprehensive going in August having heard horror stories about sites at this time of year, but we had no problems at all and will certainly repeat the experience next August, in fact if available we are thinking of returning for the Bank Holiday weekend. If I had to complain about anything it would be the dog owner/s who failed to pick up on site or on the dog park, but this was no big problem it only happened a few times. Thank you wardens and caravan club a good holiday with lovely memories.

Not for us

We were very relieved to be allocated a hardstanding pitch by the wardens that was on the lower part of the site. Had we been sited on the upper field we would have either requested a move or left the site altogether as there was very little room between outfits. Appears that the CC want to maximise revenue ahead of its normally high standards. WiFi access is a joke and the CC need to sort it out. I pay for a service and just do not get value for money (Same issue at the Cromer site) - sorry will not be back. Next time in Cornwall we will probably look at a private site.

Worse site ever

Stayed here last week , terrible, no space between pitches on the top field, couldn't sit out unless you wanted to breathe cig smoke from all the vans packed in around you. The toilets were regularly blocked in the evening and were not checked or cleaned until 11 am even when wardens were made aware of the situation, the loos ran out of toilet paper most days, a lot of money for not a very good week, never again Looe!!

Summer Road Trip

This is the first time we have stayed at the site. It as great for the children but lacked a little bot of privacy between the pitches... however we came from Hillhead where the pitches have lovely privacy hedges. My children found the playground good and all facilities were clean and well looked after. My only constructive feedback would be to keep the pool open a little later as we tended to come back from our day trips about 5 ish and it was a little bit too late to go swimming after tea. Also an area for football would be great...but that's because my son is obsessed by football. A lovely week in a lovely location. Looe and Polperro are stunning.

Not very impressed

Visited last year. Site was very expensive and very busy.Wardens were disinterested-not friendly. Facilities didn't cope too well eg Loo paper ran out in at least one gent's toilet early on in the day do toilets not kept that clean-not great given the premium fees!! Dog walk area was  ' grubby'  Worst Club site we've visited.

Comment from The Club:

Many thanks for your review and we are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your time at Looe Caravan Club Site.  Our Warden’s work extremely hard to ensure the smooth operation and management of the site as well as the safety of the people staying on the site.  As you say you stayed on the site a year ago it is hard for us to follow up on the specific points you raise. However, I would like to confirm that our wardens have a strict cleaning timetable rota for the toilet blocks and this takes place at 11am each day when the toilet block would have been thoroughly cleaned and all the necessary supplies replenished. A further check is made at 1630 and it is rare for the toilet paper to run out as each toilet has 2 holders taking 2 rolls.  Many apologies if this happened - more supplies are available from the wardens on site.

Regarding the dog walk area being “grubby” each owner is responsible for its pet’s behaviour. We know accidents can't always be avoided, but in the event of fouling we ask members to please clean up quickly and use the dog bins provided. Members are asked to follow this practice elsewhere on the site and also when using the dog walks.

Once again many thanks for leaving a review.

Not really impressed

We stayed here for 1 week this August and thought on first impression the site looked lovely and it is kept lovely and clean. The pool only let's 40 people in which is fair enough but we wasn't even allowed to sit around the pool until space was available. Then mini golf £1.25 each everyone you want a game. Tennis £2 per person for an hour. I'm sure we have already paid to stay on the site with out all the extras these should be free the amount your charged to stay here.
