Great holiday, we will go again

I had a serviced pitch because they were the only ones available, this site gets booked up early! Looe is a drive away and take plenty of change because parking is expensive but I found out the larger council car park is free after 6pm, so we parked there and walked around the harbour and enjoyed some excellent food at reasonable prices. The site is also a good hub to travel lots of tourist attractions and several bays to discover. Ours was a family holiday, my wife, a five and six year old and myself, when we turned up we were warned about the noise from the play area, that's fine with us because we can let our kids out to play and keep an eye on them, kids are noisey ours were noisey too they were on holiday and enjoying themselves, I made sure they were in for half past eight though before the teenagers came! The only downside to an otherwise perfect holiday. Several people including myself asked them to be quiet after half past ten at night, shouting swearing and banging metalwork in the play area, there was a piece of grass next to my van with a short fence which they congregated on being loud only about ten feet from the van, when asked to keep quiet I was met with cheek, rubbish had to be picked up every morning by staff, parents should be ashamed of themselves. Staff were friendly, informative and great with my kids also site was clean and tidy, full marks there.

Holiday at Looe Caravan Site

We stayed on this site for 2 weeks and were very satisfied. It was a good base camp. We visited The Eden Project, Polperro, Padstow, Fowey. The Black Rock Beach is close by and great for rock pooling. If you are reasonably fit its a nice walk. We were three adults and 5yr old twins. They had a great time in the playground and the swimming pool. I know kids were running round playing in the evening but I think people forget that they are on holiday too and its good for them to let off steam and make new friends in a relatively safe environment. Have to say we were not overly bothered by it. Staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you to them all

Could be great

We stayed here for the last week of August and overall really liked the site. I agree that kids were allowed to run amok and ran all over our pitch with cap guns well after dark but this is mainly the parents fault. The wardens kept things very clean but seemed to allow cars and motorhomes to speed around and even a large gas delivery tanker sped past our pitch one morning going far too fast where kids play. The pool was good but I gather it's being refurbished before next season and that's much needed as looks dirty even though I know the chemicals etc. were checked regularly. Be aware the site is a distance outside Looe but I would recommend the excellent Coddy Shack takeaway and restaurant which is just a short walk away. I would like to go back but for the price charged here the pool needs to be sorted and the wardens need to get on top of the rampant kids and speeding problems.

Noisey

We had booked a service pitch for a weeks stay. On arrival staff were quick to say " are you aware service pitches are next to playground " well how could we be aware as its not mentioned on web site nor in hand book. We had a look and at 1pm ish all was quiet so we pitched up. At 4pm all hell breaks out as kids flock to playground and race up and down the road next to playground ( who puts a road next to a playground ?? ) on bikes and scooters. At 945 pm we are once again returned to normal. Spoke to staff next day and moved down a few pitches. Staff here are not interested when told children were climbing onto top of very high fencing. The staff fly around on a golf buggy not even slowing for children. Fish chip van comes couple of times a week but get there early there is a long wait unless you are Cc staff who calmly walk down jump the que and don't even pay. Lovely!!!  Who ever designed the pitches next to a playground and put a road in front has serious problems. Will not be returning especially with current staff and service pitch issues. Shame as the location for Looe is spot on.

Great if you have a brood of kids

Wardens gave a warm welcome and kept the site spotless. Noticed sign on door asking for people to put top on when entering reception, mmmm sais it all. Luckily we had read reviews regarding service pitches opposite play gounds and the amount of noise, this was very true. Children running riot around site until very late, running around caravans and shooting cap guns constantly. We have children but they know not to invade other pitches. Choose a hard standing pitch on other side if you wish to avoid some of this. Looe was a drive away and had nearest supermarket, not one but two Co-ops. Enjoyed the crabbing, glass bottom boat and perusing shops. Beware sea gulls, they will snatch food given the chance. Fish n Chips ok, but not sure how they won an award in 2013 especially with the dismissive service by the guy working the fryers. Polperro well worth a visit if you like quaint old fishing villages. We also visited a National Trust Property Cotehele house & the mill. enjoyed the walks and pleasant surroundings. Great views down towards a viaduct. In all, enjoyed the visit, maybe not site as a bit far out and noisy.

Brilliant

Great site very well looked after we were there for 10 days at the end of August. We were very lucky to get a hard standing pitch at the bottom of the site which the wardens went out of there way to make available for us. Easy access on and off the site with well thought out turning area on exit. Little shop with all the basics. Pool was great for the kids but don't expect to get any lengths in at this time of the year ;). Toilets, laundry area were always clean and user friendly. Bins on the site were emptied at least twice a day so the seagulls didn't get their pickings.  Well done to all the wardens as they obv work very hard. Thank you

Great site

Great site, swimming pool sold it to us for the kids, downside is that as they were under 16 an adult had to be present. My children are 14 and 12 and both have rookie lifesaver gold certification (and are probably stronger swimmers than me). There was always a site member there on guard anyway. That aside, good site, great shower block, good secure dog walking field where they could be let off their leads for a proper stretch of their legs. And lovely blackberries most of the way round the site.

Excellent site in a lovely part of the country

We've just returned from a week in Looe and this site is a gem. Friendly staff and with excellent facilities, probably the best we've seen to date. The site is well laid out and a variety of trees divide each row of pitches. All pitches apart from hard standing are sloped so a bit of lateral levelling is required. The site shop keeps some basic supplies but it's only small and for anything other than essentials a trip into Looe will be needed. The toilet/shower block is really good. Toilets are separate from showers so you don't have to walk through one to get to the other like on some sites and they are kept very clean. The site itself is very well maintained and we always saw several groundskeepers at work each day of our stay keeping on top of things.  We pitched close to the upper shower block which in hindsight turned out to be a mistake as its adjacent to the tennis, crazy golf and park area. In itself this isn't an issue but after dark these areas seems to be a Mecca for feral children staying on site and who have no idea what it means to respect other people staying on site - on several nights there was lots of rowdy behaviour well into the evening which disturbed my own kids' sleep.  Looe is only a couple of miles down the road and is worth visiting as is the holiday village, which is walkable, if you prefer something a bit quieter. I consider my towcar to be more than adequate for my van, however, there were some hills on the approach to this site which made the car work hard.  Overall though this is a great site and the only one so far which has the combination of features to make me want to return. Next time I would definitely consider a hard standing pitch though. Normally I prefer grassed pitches over gravelled but being on a sloped pitch made use of the awning less comfortable and less useful than it would have been if it were level and it rained a lot so the areas of heavy foot traffic around the pitch did quickly turn soggy and that in turn meant that a lot of the muck found its way into the awning.  Apparently, or so we were told, August is not the best month to visit Cornwall so when we go back we'll try earlier in the year and pray for better weather. That's hardly an inditement on what is a lovely site though.

Lovely site, swimming pool, tennis, mini golf

We stayed here in May half term, the site was great. In high season I can imagine it would be quite claustrophobic as the pitches are tightly packed in together. The swimming pool and children's play area, tennis and mini golf were great for our children. A few problems with some nasty big kids picking on the younger ones, and the teenagers that seemed to be given free rein to run around, shrieking and spraying each other with water hoses until almost midnight (what are the parents thinking?!) A great site, but go when it's quiet!

Recommend to everyone.

Went to this site last year so I had to go back again this year. The staff are really helpful. It's in a good place for the beach which is very nice and there's a few different things to do for all the family. There's two big supermarkets that aren't far from the resort.   If your wanting real peace and quite then try go to the bottom that's where I was there is still kids there but I've not had any problems in the last 2yrs I've been there. The pool is clean and well maintained and there's loads to do for all aged kids. There's entertainment next door that you can go to which is good because you can go then come back to the quietness of the caravan club site.  It's a must to try people 100% recommend.
