DISSAPOINTING SERVICED PITCHES

I having just stayed at this site having booked 4 nights on a serviced pitch. On our arrival there was only one pitch remaining and it soon became apparent why. To be honest this site is lovely and the wardens very friendly, it is perfectly located for the Looe and surrounding areas. However the serviced pitches are predominately sited directly opposite (approx. 20 feet away) the children’s play area and several (including ours) are opposite an enclosed metal caged basketball area which looked more like a cage fighting arena!! Not a very pleasant outlook from these pitches which are the most expensive on the site!! As expected the toilets are spotless and large, but again serviced pitches are faced with a rather steep incline to get access, my wife has walking difficulties so I was faced with driving her to the toilets, this necessitated leaving and re-entering the site due to the one way system, again not very user friendly. My advice is this site is well worth a visit but be prepared if you book a serviced pitch, all others were large and some had great views, but an outlook onto a play area and large metal basketball court was not very welcoming, one thing in our favour was the weather – it was raining most of the time so we weren’t subjected to a full play area or watching a basket-ball match!!!

Lovely Site

Last week we stayed on the Looe site for 8 nights, which is a really lovely place. It is spacious with good views & very friendly & helpful Wardens.  There is a bus stop just close to the entrance of the site. The toilet block facilities are very good & v clean too.  We enjoyed our stay here.

A fabulous site

We stayed at Looe for a week in mid June and while the weather wasn't up to much, the site was first class. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly and helpful wardens who booked us in. We decided on a hard standing pitch near to the lower toilet block which, if we craned our necks, gave us a glimpse of the sea. The hard standing pitches are terraced so you don't feel overlooked. The grass pitches were in good condition but are on sloping ground so would require levelling blocks. Just a word of warning about the hard standing pitches. If you are putting up an awning you will need really strong rock pegs. I bent several of mine! The wardens on this site couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant and they were always out maintaining the pristine appearance of the site. The bus into Looe and Polperro, or Plymouth in the other direction, stops immediately outside the site, so it's really convenient and avoids paying parking charges in town. This was something that really annoyed us during our stay ...... the fact that every time you visit somewhere you have to pay for around a three hour stay even if you only want an hour. End of rant.

Splendid Club Site

A really clean and well kept site. Very friendly welcome. A big site nicely laid out with well appointed shower blocks. This site has a swimming pool, unfortunately we didn't have time to try it out, so unable to comment apart from saying that it looked very inviting. The staff were extremely helpful finding out bits of information as we asked. Good spacing between the vans, so we had a nice peaceful time.

Regular favourite

Usually manage a weekend here every year. Quick, easy trip from South Devon to some lovely Cornish towns. We have been coming here for years and site is always attractive with the added bonus of a heated pool. You can nip into the holiday camp next door to buy stuff from their grocery store or there is a Co-op in Looe. Wardens have post codes of larger supermarkets around. I have purchased annual Wi-Fi but wasn't able to get a signal here and there is no TV booster. Looe has plenty of pubs with food and is nice to stroll around. Beach allows no dogs in summer.  All round great site with plenty of helpful Wardens

An amazing site

What an amazing site this is - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay of 11 nights on a service pitch. Our only gripe is why the service pitches are so close to the play area. We wouldn't book a service pitch again as the only 2 available when we arrived faced directly onto the green 'cage' that is the play area. Fortunately this was the week after half term so play area was not used apart from some small children with their parents. A very peaceful site despite its size, facilities were excellent and the site, although sloping, is very well laid out. The wardens were always very friendly and certainly hard working to keep this big site immaculate. The pool was most welcome on the very hot days we had. We will definitely return but not in high season.
