This site is really nice and spotless the wardens were very friendly nice warm showers all what we became members for 19 years ago but after arriving on site on Wednesday we noticed a caravan with no locker doors on broken windows with a little dog left underneath the caravan with a rope around its neck the caravan was occupied by a lady man and 2 children they went out on Thursday and weren’t seen since the gentleman next door told the wardens Friday morning and they bought it a bowl of water various people on site complained that the dog had been left with no water food and anything to lie on it was freezing temperatures I took it a carpet and towel for it to lie on and fed it the lady behind gave it a collar as you couldn’t get your finger in between the rope all the wardens kept saying was we trying to get in touch with the owners this is the point of the so called section 10.3 code of behaviour makes it clear that membership precludes anyone that is using the site for anything other than recreational purposes as you stated 3 times below this clearly wasn’t being used for recreational purposes with it been unoccupied for 4 days leaving a defenceless dog with no water food or anything to sit on the rspca turned up on Monday to give a form to the owner but in my opinion it had been badly neglected I rang the site to ask about how the dog was after coming home on Sunday as I was feeling very upset thinking of this lovely dog and the response was the owners have been contacted and they are due to go off tomorrow so in the end all that has happened is the problem will be ongoing for wherever they turn up to next I am left utterly distressed thinking about the poor dog I think the wardens could have done a lot more about the situation with the pet the gentleman next door complained at least 4 times and so did 3 others and myself I just hope wherever they go to next the dog has people around who will give it the basics of what it needs warmth food and water
Comment from the Club
We are very sorry to read that your recent visit left you feeling upset and distressed. At the Club we take animal welfare very seriously and appreciate that many of our visitors are animal lovers and pet owners. As such, we would like to assure you that once the situation was highlighted the wardens called the RSPCA, who have the recognised authority and expertise to properly assess any distress or neglect with regard to the dog’s health and well being. The RSCPA prioritised the case as they judged appropriate in the circumstances and provided suitable guidance / advice to the owner. The wardens also spoke to the members concerned regarding our expectations – both for then and the future. We are not able to discuss any action taken against a member but please be assured that any misconduct with regard to Club Site Rules is acted upon and taken where appropriate.

Unhappy
Nice site been there 4 times Trouble is there are now commercial vans on site With people who don't live by the law Vans in and out eye balling the other campers and there things left out side There kids seem to take over the play areas Say anything and things get not so nice The caravan and motorhome club is turning its self into a travellers campsite I pity the staff having to put up with them
Comment from the Club:
Thank you for your review. We were sorry to read you were unhappy during your stay.
As per our replies to the previous reviews, as an inclusive organisation, and bearing in mind the law on these matters, the Club does not have a policy that discriminates against any particular individuals / groups and commercial vans are allowed on Club sites. However, in support of the original ethos of the Club, the Bye-Laws (Section 10.3 – Code of Behaviour) do make it clear that membership usually precludes anyone who is not using our Sites purely for recreational purposes.
The vast majority of our members enjoy the Club Sites and Certificated Locations on offer through membership without any problems/concerns. Where we become aware of anyone that abuses the benefits of membership then we act swiftly to investigate and address that situation. With the size of membership that we enjoy, which helps fund the facilities everyone benefits from, you will appreciate that diversity across our membership is inevitable. While Site Staff will be vigilant to try and identify and mitigate the opportunity for any unwelcome behaviour at the earliest possible stage, they also take care to only intervene when clearly warranted.
Once again, I am sorry you felt your holiday was spoiled. We have noted the comments you have made and these will be passed onto the Regional Manager who looks after Littlehampton Club Site.

Uneasy
Have visited this site on a couple of occasions and have always enjoyed our visit. The site itself is very well maintained by friendly and helpful wardens who cannot be faulted. However on this occasion, we were a little apprehensive to find a number of white vans coming and going at all times early and late. Obviously these people were going about their business using the site as a base. This does not sit well with those of us who use Caravan and Motorhome club sites for recreation. If this is to be the normal on Club sites for the future, then we will be reconsidering our membership.
