One of our Favourites

A lovely site and an easy half hour stroll into Knaresborough, along the footpath on the main road, for all your needs and interesting places to visit. The site and facilities are extremely well maintained, clean, with spacious pitches and the inevitable friendly wardens. Just returned from our usual late in the year visit; our first since the major upgrade. Used one of the new serviced pitches here for the first time, a luxury we are now becoming increasingly used to, but you do miss out on the chats at the service points during the daily afternoon fill and empty duties. Had an extremely nice meal in the new 'Wanderer' restaurant - don't be put off by the slightly high prices - this is no ordinary café serving ordinary food, but imaginative delicious dishes, beautifully presented by the friendly staff. It's great to be able to pop in, on site, for either a full meal, or just a coffee, or a pint of whatever (proper beer is served!).

First visit to Knaresborough

Very well maintained site with some very generous pitches. The facilities are excellent, and the extra facilities alongside the New Wanderer bar and restaurant increase the available facilities with high quality finishings. The Wanderer restaurant looked very nice and inviting, unfortunately we never got a chance to try it during our stay. We will definitely try it on the next visit. The site is very well placed for walks without driving. We walked via the Nidd Gorge and the Beryl Burton Way into Harrogate. There is a 22 bus back from Harrogate that stops directly outside the camp entrance. The site has a good TV reception without needing any aerial hook ups. Thankyou for lovely stay.

Sign of things to come?

Excellent site with very good clean facilities and friendly, helpful staff. New developments incorporating restaurant serving high quality dinners every evening and super new toilet block give this site an extra dimension and character. Is this a pointer to the future for the club? If so it will be welcomed by many members who will appreciate being able to have an evening out without worrying about drink and drive laws. And dogs are welcome! The site is very relaxed without rules and regulations being posted everywhere. The only problem was the approach to the dog walk which is quite muddy but there are good walks off site.

Wonderful Improvements

We have just completed our second visit within a month to the Knaresborough site since its refurbishment and wow, what a classy site. As stated by other reviewers, this should set the standard for club sites. We received a warm welcome on arrival and the new reception building is really smart. Our first visit was using the serviced pitches in the newly developed area at the top end of the site. This used to be a swampy, boggy grass area only popular with frogs but now has a loop of tarmac road to give access to the large well drained pitches, very nice. Our second visit was on one of the standard pitches which are also large and have established hedges to break up the rows giving a feel of more privacy. The original toilet block is pretty much as was and is kept very clean and tidy by the wardens. The new building also has toilet and shower facilities which are of an extremely high standard. The old bistro has been replaced by The Wanderer which has much more space but no cosy area for people who wish to just have a chat over a drink. The food is restaurant quality with a quite imaginative menu, a really good experience. My only negative about the Wanderer was a comment that a big screen TV may be put in for the world cup. Personally I would not wish to sit for a meal while people were shouting encouragement across the room at a game on TV. That's not an appropriate atmosphere for dining. The access in and out of the site is now barrier controlled with an extra lane for incoming onsite traffic but has a rather tight turn on entering before reaching the barrier. If towing a long caravan it's a good test of how well you know your outfit so keep your elbows tucked in. Also, when exiting the site visibility towards Scotton is partially obstructed by the club signs so take care. Knaresborough is a great place to visit and there are lots of other attractive places within easy reach. It is within two hours drive from home so we will be visiting regularly through 2018. Well done to the club for hitting such high standards. Also, thanks to Mike the warden for valuable help on where to find parking in Ilkley.

Great site with lovely bistro

Stayed for one night in December for a quick getaway. Really lovely site with a nice bistro. Good clean facilities and tidy, fairly level pitches (still needed ramps for our motorhome). We managed to get right next to the playground so the kids were happy. There is a field for walking the digs in and a walk too, which was a bit muddy but it is December. We had a grest meal in tbe bistro which also caters well for kids. Lovely staff at both the site and bistro. Faultless visit so Definelty looking to book again.

Excellent site

Stayed for 3 nights with a group of friends. Excellent site, clean and modern toilet and shower facilities. Motorhome service point convenient and easy to use. Hardstanding pitch large and level. Bus stop right outside the gate, short dog walk including a square area where it was good for ball games and for the dogs to meet, greet and socialise - or do their own thing if they preferred. Lots of places to walk close to the site. We tried to walk into Knaresborough along the gorge but footpaths very muddy and slippy along the second part - rejoined the road and footpaths ok. Ate in the on site restaurant on the Friday - good selection, fantastic service, good food. Only niggle was the temperature with the floor heating it was too hot which did become quite uncomfortable. Will definitely visit again

A November visit

We have just visited with a group of our friends. Knaresborough has to be the very best site that we have visited. The staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. The facilities are extremely clean and the warmth was very welcome on a bright but bitterly cold weekend. The pitches are large, level and well spaced. We all had a very good meal in the Bistro on the Friday evening. The food was excellent as was the service. We didn't find anything to complain about and the whole experience was very good. We will definitely be coming back to this site

Perfect site

We stayed here for 5 nights from 12th November, had a good choice of pitches, arriving at 12 o'clock we were fast tracked through the barrier area and told to come back and pay once we had found a pitch and were settled. How refreshing to have this attitude, well done Wardens, so much better than the Wardens before the site was refurbished who were constantly being rude to people and turning them away to ride around for the sake of 15 minutes. Fantastic facilities now and immaculately clean. Peace and tranquility in abundance. Many thanks to the brilliant Wardens on site who were helpful, kind, and friendly.

Hard site to fault

Our stay of 6 nights was our first visit to this recently refurbished site. The Club have certainly made a good job of it and using the new MSV point was a doodle. I would just like to add a couple of comments to the last 3/4 reviews below. The the bus service is not that frequent (about every 2 hours) and the entrance is not as narrow or difficult as the impression seen on approach. I had no problem entering with my 8 meter motorhome towing a car. Take it slowly and as sharp as you can and there should be no problem. The site is far from home in a direction we infrequently travel but we will certainly make a point of using this site again if the opportunity arises.
