Had a pleasant weekend at Knaresborough Caravan club site where we found the facilities spot on, clean and well maintained. The staff that met us upon arrival very pleasant. The location of the site not to far from the town and a local pub just a 5 min walk into the local village. We personally visited the on site bistro The Wanderer both night for drinks only on the Friday and drinks and a meal on the Saturday, there was a good selection of wine, spirits and beers and the food was of a very high standard all reasonably priced and served by very polite and helpful staff.I would thorough recommend a visit.
salt n safety
WHATS GONE WRONG WITH HEALTH AND SAFETY,WARDENS NOT ALLOWED TO PUT SALT ON THE ROAD WHEN COVERED WITH HARD PACKED SNOW AND ICE BUT THEY CAN PUT IT ROUND THE TOILET BLOCK.A MOTOR HOME GOT STUCK IN THE SNOW MEMBERS GOT HIM GOING WHILE THE TWO WARDENS STOOD WITH THERE HANDS IN THERE POCKETS .THEY SAID WE COULD USE THE SALT IN THE BOX BUT THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SALT THE ROAD .I AM 75 AND I DO NOT PAY TOP FEES TO SALT THE ROAD MYSELF. AFTER ALL THAT THIS IS A GREAT SITE.
lovely site
lovely site
wardens and bistro staff very friendly and accommodating
easy access to the dales and a lovely walk down the Nidd valley into knaresborough
good beer and food in the bistro albeit limited but plenty of places to eat in knaresborough and an excellent pub 5 mins walk down the road.
Would have been nice if office sold basic things like bread and milk but that is being overcritical
would recommend a visit

Excellent site
Visited this site as a get away from the hustle and bustle of the lead up to Christmas. The site was a standard I would expect for a club site and the playground is really well equipped. The kids loved it and played out for ages even though it was freezing. The restaurant was good too with really helpful and friendly staff. All in all a great weekend but if I had to pick fault it would be the number of empty standard pitches which were showing as booked online (checked while we were there) meaning we had to book a serviced pitch but that's down to club members not the site!

Good but could improve
We visited knaresborough club site for the christmas market...the site is spacious with large pitches. The toilet blocks are clean and tidy. The wardens are helpful and accommodating.
One thing that does need attending to is the availability of newspapers as it is two miles into knaresborough, so anyone without transport is not going to have a daily read without a four mile
walk.
Now to the new bistro...very limited choice of food but tasty all the same. My one big gripe is being charged £5.00 for a 175mm glass of very average wine!
Will not be visiting the bar again!!!

Brillant Site
Stayed here December 14th through December 17th 2017 for a short break. It was COLD! The recently refurbished toilet block and the newly built Bistro and adjoining toilet facilities were very nice indeed. A very pleasant stay, which was only spoilt by us following the directions to "Walk into Knaresborough". Don't (it would be OK in the summer but not mid December). Along the road (yes pavement all the way) it's just under two miles. Following the site directions it felt like five miles! Nevertheless a very nice site to stay at.

disappointed.
We always looked forward to ending our winter break at knaresborough, a drink & chat in the bar the men who ran it were so friendly them a good meal in the bistro, the new restaurant was cold & impersonal it was trying to be "trendy" if I wanted to go to a trendy place I would book a table in York or Harrogate, even the menu was poor I did manage to get a plain salad , the salmon was not available , I got 6 prawns in place of it. It is not a place you could bring children, the old bistro was cosy & homely. The site & facilities were good as usual I was just very disappointed with meal & the restaurant.

A great winter site
I knew we were on to a winner when we pulled up on to our large, spacious pitch and saw the staff hand spreading grit around the footways to keep us all safe. After a long drive, we hooked up and headed for the bistro - complete with our dog, who simply loved the under floor heating - and enjoyed a splendid meal. Hubby had the melt-in-the-mouth steak pie, and I enjoyed a curry which was subtly spiced rather than hot spiced, so I was able to enjoy the flavours. Staff everywhere were great and helpful. There's an adequate, though small, dog walk on site, but we found the gate out at the back of the site on to a section of the Knaresborough Round where he could run around on traffic free lanes - one happy dog!
Although the site grew busy at the weekend, it was never noisy and the layout is such that you don't feel cramped in any way, though it's a fairly small footprint and we never had to walk far to get to the loo, the bistro, the reception or the dog walk. I noticed a children's playground too.
Everything was spotless. The bins were emptied both days when we were there, the toilet blocks were pristine and very warm. and there was a well lit information rom wit details of local attractions, including more walks for those who have more time than we did.
We love visiting Yorkshire, and I think we have now found the best site for the winter visits.

Quite a change.
A few years since we visited this site. What a radical change. New layout and hard standing makes access easy. Old toilet block is okay thanks to the Wardens keeping it spotless. A smaller new block adjacent to the restaurant was modern, clean and warm.
We found some sunshine so the walk into Knaresborough was very pleasant. Used the local bus - 22 - to go to Ripon. A very twisty and scenic route as it passes through many pretty villages. I would recommend it. Ripon Cathedral has some impressive architecture on view.
The restaurant on site was very good. we enjoyed an excellent meal there.
