Nice site

Great stay at this site, the food in the Wanderer was a bit pricey but very nice, could do with a little bar area to sit and have a drink if you don't want to eat, the only thing we had a problem with was after we pitched up we were told to move because the pitch was closed, fair doos there was a sign saying but you needed a magnifying glass to see it as it was written on the pitch, post apart from that a great little site and would definitely go again.

Brilliant.

From first greeting I fell in love with this site. The gentleman who greeted me was friendly, professional and exuded helpfulness. The site is spotless, the pitches spacious and the toilet blocks immaculate. The on-site bistro sells basic fare, burgers, steaks and fish and chips, adequate if you don't want to cook and a godsend if you arrive after a long drive and just want to chill. For dogs there is a quite good dog walk on site, and a lane runs up along the site for just over half a mile if woman's best friend wants to run around. Five minutes walk up the Ripley road and there is the entrance to Nidd Gorge, beautiful woodland, streams, a network of paths that extend into Knaresborough one way and Harrogate the other. Sometimes, reading the reviews, I feel the Caravan club are damned if they did and damned if they didn't. On this occasion this is a damned good refurbishment. Well done club (and that warden, or can I PLEASE call him manager?).

Small but perfectly formed!

We just overnighted here although we have been some years ago. Lovely tidy site - great improvements - new loos and barriers and serviced pitches. Very helpful wardens. The new Bistro The Wanderer was great - good beer and excellent food. Should try the salmon en croute with shrimp sauce - lovely!! Nice to see 3 good dogs in there - under the tables and causing no problems.

Missing a trick

We stayed at this site for 7 nights and enjoyed our stay. We loved the unique facility of a bar and restaurant (Wanderers). Great addition only being one of two CMC site with something like this. However, it opens a 17.00 hours till 22.or 22.00 depending how busy, thats fine but surely opening up for a few houes on the morning would make business sense to serve breakfasts , coffees and teas . If you don't know its their you will just walk / drive by, as the external lights were never on when we stayed. Making the most of this wonderful addition would make perfect sense by maybe advertising it more in the toilet / shower blocks and giving every new arrival a seperate leaflet advertising it with the menue and opening/closing times instead of buried in a leaflet with other information . Come one CMC we want more like th3se facilities on more sites .

Hi, stopped for one night whilst travelling to York. I was disappointed with the refurb as I presumed the entire site had been updated. The new toilet and shower facilities (2) at the bestro are excellent, as are the large hard standing pitches. I found the main toilet block let the site down with numerous cracked floor tiles in both male and female areas, along with flaking chrome wastes and discoloured cement/grout in showers. Such a pity considering the amount of money that has been spent on site.

Not as dog friendly as we thought.

We have used this site several times to date , before and after the refurb. The wardens are top notch, the site is kept in best order and the Bistro gives this site a definite edge for us. However there was a big surprise on Friday the 7th Sept. this year. Whiist sitting in the patio area enjoying a drink I fell foul of the new rules , well new to me anyway, I asked the young man behind the bar for some water for our dog. This was immediately refused as "we don't provide water for dogs as the bowls cost £2 each" and various other mutterings which I missed I in my astonishment. This on a " Dog Friendly Site" in a Bistro that allows well behaved dogs in the dining area. That evening we had booked for 4 and brought our own bowl for the dog to have a drink which was begrudgingly, I feel, filled. DOG OWNERS PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS NEW RULE THEY OPERATE A VERSION OF BYO FOR DOGS Please make up your minds, are dogs welcome or not. Next time we are on site with our friends and our dog we will go to a local restaurant and spend what was almost £100 on a meal there. There is plenty of choice. DOG OWNER PLEASE NOTE

Comment from the Club:

We’re sorry you had this experience in the Bistro and can confirm that there is no new ruling regarding dog bowls, this was an unfortunate misunderstanding by the member of staff you spoke to. Please rest assured that Knaresborough remains a dog friendly site.

Nice site but some reservations

Stopped over for an overnight stop travelling north and booked this site as wanted to try the facilities at the Wanderer bar and restaurant. The site is excellent and the refurbishment is very well done, albeit rather on the pricey side. it is too far out from Knaresborough to walk in unless you are fit and healthy ( we have an older dog so not for us). I understand there is a bus service though. Scotton village is not far by foot and has a great pub called the guy Falkes Arms and is worth a visit. great food and real ales. We were not impressed with the Wanderer bar and restaurant on site. the menu was basic and the food was not great on the night. rather expensive as well for what you got, both food and drink. But on the plus side very handy. Its early days for this venture and we hope they will take on comments and improve.

It’s nice but...

Staff were very friendly. The dog walking facilities were great, but I wouldnt’t Have wanted to have the pitch with the dog ‘poo bin’ right on top of it, very unpleasant. The new bistro was very good, staff welcoming . For me though the site lacked soul. The pitches seemed very close together with no planting.

What a gem

We visited this site for the first time last week, August 2018. We were received by friendly staff eager to offer help and advice where needed. This site seems to go the extra mile, in the information room there is a wealth of information from current weather reports to take away slips on how to reach local shops, town centre etc. It is quiet, well laid out and the service points are good. My husband is partially disabled so he used the disabled facilities, these are very good for those with mobility problems, it is the first one we've seen with a slightly lowered shower area that stops all the water going all over the floor thereby making it easier to keep clothes dry when getting dressed again, this seems a small point but makes a big difference. This site seems to provide lots of small details that make for one fantastic site. The food and drinks in the bar/restaurant are good and the staff friendly. This lovely site scores top marks for us and we will be back again.

KNARESBOROUGH IN GODS OWN COUNTY

And yet another visit close to family and friends at the most logical caravan and motor home site ...yes ...Knaresborough And what a site too these days An excellent refurbishment and makeover has created one of the best sites ever. With an number of extended pitches and a completely new reception and adjoining facilities. Wow!! The site is also very well placed for an easy walk into town to local facilities and geographically placed well for lots of exploration of Yorkshire Brilliant stay Brilliant staff Thanks
