One of the best club sites

Our first visit to Knaresborough and it won't be our last. The site was immaculate, the public transport links great and a good taxi service(who will take dogs) The wardens were friendly and helpful and there was always one shower block open. The new shower block is beautiful. A 35 min walk along a lit footpath takes you into Knaresborough, which is a pleasant town with some lovely places to eat (The Mitre and Carriages are both recommended) You can also walk along Nidd Gorge. There is also a pub with food 500yds away. The Wanderer bar and bistro is a great asset-good food at fair prices, right on site and a pleasant outdoor terrace for good weather. If you are concerned about noise, don't be- we pitched opposite the bistro (pitch 6) and there was no noise at all, and it shuts promptly at 10pm to ensure everyone gets their beauty sleep. The only sounds we heard were the birds in the morning and the farmer's tractor going up the lane behind us.Highly recommended.

Site & location very good

Facilities are top knotch. Great for walking along the River Nidd & into Knaresborough or further if you want, wear boots as it can be muddy. There's a bar on site where you can catch up with other people & find out more about what the area has to offer oh & have a few beers too. We didn't eat there by choice as we mostly cook ourselves so I can't comment personally an the food, a couple we talked to said they enjoyed their meals though. What I can recommend is Zolsha on the main street in Knaresborough fantastic curry & the tiny Frazer Theatre just behind it (blink & you'll miss it) we saw a Thin Lizzy tribute band Limehouse Lizzy (fantastic) who to our surprise just happened to be on to coincide with our stay, you do need to book as it only holds about 130. Handy for Harrogate too amongst other places. We will return in the next year or so definitely.

Disappointed after visiting for many years

We have visited this site for many years and although the site improvements ie the extra pitches, toilet block new restaurant building and access are very good, there is one complaint we have to make. The food in the restaurant is extremely poor. We have always used the restaurant in the past and although the building wasn’t the best the food was always excellent. The same cannot be said now. We have just returned from a 3 night stay and we ate at the restaurant each night hoping it would get better. Unfortately this was not the case. We are due to return to the site in a few weeks but will not be eating at the restaurant this time. Such a shame! The other point we have to make is that there were so many dogs in the restaurant barking and yapping that at one point we thought there was going to be a fight between them. This is not conducive to a relaxing night out.

Super site

The warm and friendly greeting from the wardens set the tone for this site. It is immaculately kept with the toilet block well up to the standard you would expect. Generally the site is peaceful but from the top field, where the service pitches are located traffic noise can be heard. It is by no means the M1 but it is noticeable. The bar and bistro is a definite asset and was generally busy throughout our weeks stay. The food is freshly made and no more costly than the local pubs in the area. The bar closes at 10 pm which is not only common sense but fair to all concerned. There is still the usual problem of children riding cycles recklessly around the site,I just wonder how long it will be before we have another ,”ROWNTREE PARK” incident. The yardstick for any site is, would I come back? The answer is in a heartbeat.

well kept site

what a great improvement the face lift has been. the bistro is a great addition to the site.we had a meal in there on the first night of our stay and it was very good. many locations to visit from the site are only a short drive away. the site is very well maintained by the team of conscientious wardens. the toilet block was immaculate no mater when you visited it. we will certainly be visiting Knaresborough again

Wonderful Site

We have recently spent a week at this lovely site - everything about this site is first class and we cannot wait to go back again . Pitches very spacious and well set out and the showers etc were immaculate!! The wardens were very friendly and do a great job . The on site Bar and Bistro makes this site perfect. We didn’t know what to expect but were very pleasantly surprised. We ate there 4 nights as it was so good. It was such a luxury to only have to walk a few yards to eat after very busy days out exploring the local area. It is dog friendly and can honestly say that over the 4 nights we were there did not hear a sound from any of the dogs that were in there - they were very well behaved and to be honest added to the friendly atmosphere . The staff in the Bistro were lovely and what a fantastic chef !! We really hope that we can have more on other sites as it made such a difference to our holiday.

Trip to Yorkshire to see some friends

Lovely little site easy access despite extra works being carried out at the entrance/exit. Disappointed that reception did not have a shop stocking essentials but luckily did not run out of anything. Wardens both sets very friendly and helpful. Shower block spotlessly clean however the only heating was in the entrance hall way therefore the showers and the toilet block were not that warm especially as it was one of the coldest periods of the winter and very snowy, Having said that the wardens did an excellent job of keeping the main walk ways clear of snow. We did not eat in the restaurant on site - but used the local pub in Scotton - Guy Fawkes Arms and would recommend this the food was excellent and the staff really friendly. Visited RHS - Harlow Carr and enjoyed lunch at Betty's of Harrogate. Took the park and ride to York from Upper Poppleton and had a great day taking in the York Minster and the Shambles and found a lovely restaurant but cannot remember its name, do know how to find it again. You are spoilt for choice. Despite the snow we drove up to the dales and visited Pateley Bridge to purchase a Pateley Pie which was great!! Then drove onto Grassington and down to Bolton Abbey. We enjoyed our break away and will return - but next time in the Summer.

First and last time at Knaresborough

Booked for 3 nights but left after 2. - Had a meal in the Wanderer which was disrupted by unruly dogs. - Was woken up at 6:50am by a somebody leaving and left the car running at the from of our unit whilst they said their goodbyes. - The final straw was having loose dog defacate on our pttch. The site is long walk from Knaresborough, with a almost non-existant bus service. Not ideal for a motorhomer unless the weather is very good. The Bistro facillities are very good, with a choice of excellent real ales. The downside is it's a bit like eating in a kennels with dogs being fed at the tables and unruly dogs snapping and barking at anyone who walks through the door. It's not fair on those who want a quiet meal or drink. Yes we did tell the warden and had a refund so that we could move to another site.

First Visit but won't be our last.

What a great site, recently refurbished to a high standard. The facilities are excellent and the Wanderer Bar and Grill an absolute gem. We popped in for a drink one night, saw the quality of the food and returned the second for an amazing meal. Would highly recommend it, friendly staff, great facilities and well located.

1st time at this site,x3 nights mid March,must say the site was very easy to find,there was some work being done to the entrance which never cause us a problem booking in,the site was clean & tidy toilet shower block always spotlessly clean,wardens helpful & polite,there is a pub (guy fawkes inn),which looked to be serving some nice looking food (never tired any just went for drinks) reasonable priced very similar to the bar on site The Wanderer,from site walked into knaresborough by road 1m-3/4 and nice steady 30mins gets you to the train station were a train to Harrogate take about 8 mins,also trains to York/Leeds....knaresborough itself offers plenty of bars serving pub food,cafes and walks round the castle & river walks also the famous Mother Shipton’s cave (closed when we were there)....5mins from site is The Nidd gorge which is a lovely walk down the riverside into town....... All in all a great site,was wanting to stay a couple more nights but site was fully booked (tells a story)...hope this helps my fellow campervan/motorhome & caravers!!!😜😜. P.S stay safe!!!.........
