We managed to get 2 days recently, when we asked the warden if there was any availablilty for the Saturday night she said they were fully booked and to watch out on the web site for cancellations. There was no cancellations. My husband asked if why we couldn't go up at the top area, and was told it is only open in the summer months, this area was hard standing. The weather was like summer last week, we could not understand why the other 19 pitches were not open. Talking to other caravaners on the site we were not the only ones looking for another night. It did not make sense.
It is a lovely site cannot fault it until this happened.
Fab Few Days Away
We have just had 4 nights away at Knaresborough and hoping it wont be long before we are able to return.
A lovely welcome from the wardens - despite parking incorrectly - yes that was us!! The site is immaculate and such a nice treat to have the "Wanderer" bistro on site. The staff were really friendly and the food delicious, lots of choice, well presented and at realistic prices. I'm not sure what my thoughts are on dogs being allowed in the restaurant - we have two dogs ourselves but even at home they are kept out of the dining area - still it didn't spoil our overall experience but might put other folks off.
Lots to see and do in the area and great advice on destinations from the wardens and the exceptionally tidy information room.
Perfect all round!

Lovely site
Just returned from a 2 night stay here.
The site is lovely, wardens very helpful and easy access from the main road. It’s clean, quiet and very modern with a bar and bistro providing a welcome drink and food at reasonable prices.
The facilities are very modern and spotlessly clean. A great dog walk is provided with an area to play ball!
There are several walks available in the information room but we only had time to walk into Knaresborough via the Nidd Gorge which was lovely and well worth doing. Knaresborough itself is a lovely little town. All in all, a great site and well worth a visit.
First visit therefore initial first impressions.
Easy access to site from main road onto side road and turning right into the site, pull forward to barrier, get out, walk to reception and be greeted in timely fashion. Had been trying to book Sunday to Sunday as with all our sites of choice, settled for Sunday to Saturday as no weekend availability as advised by warden that site was full. Advised by warden to ask in reception on daily basis. After 3 days decided to abandon this, due in part because pitches 61 to 79 being empty and roped off. I am sure there is a perfectly sensible reason for this, however the site has just re opened following a refurbishment and grass pitches changed for hard standing and serviced pitches, 61 to 79 being both hs with some serviced. No matter, we decided to leave and may try to return later in the year when we can book a full week or more. As far as the actual site goes its: handy for our motorhome as-the pitches are large and flat. The surface good with smaller hardcore. The facilities are, as expected clean, warm and normal CCMHC. The site as a whole is tidy and has good layout.
The Wanderer is clean tidy has a normal type menu with some specials available. Its no more expensive than any other eatery locally but is handy to have on site. We did find it odd having dogs allowed in all parts of the restaurant and there was some barking when other dogs arrived and walked past with their owners. At one point it did feel, as a none dog owner, that we were the odd ones out. Not as comfortable with this idea particularly when owners arrive with more than one dog at a time.
Perhaps the club are carrying out a monitoring of how this service pans out.....
Our actual meal taken in a booth, was tasty, the staff pleasent and the drinks also enjoyable.
We used the local bus service everyday and found the drivers very kind and helpful. The stops just outside the gate. The one opposite going to Rippon and onto York, the one on the side of the site going to Knaresborough and Harrogate. All of thes places having much to see and do.
Those interested in all things plants and gardens may likeRHS Harlow Carr also accessible by bus from Harrogate.
We enjoyed our visit to this area rich in heritages and cultures and hope to visit again in the future.

Lovely Site, shame about the motorhome service point
Our first visit to this site. Very pleasant and helpful wardens. Check in was easy and allowed to select our pitch.
Toilet blocks were spotless. Lovely and warm and plenty of hot water.
Dog walk was fine although very wet during our visit. We stayed during Storm Erik and it was very windy overnight
My only negative observation is with the recently upgraded Motorhome service point. Due to the significant slope of the service point and the fact that it is on a one way road, if your waste outlet is on the nearside of your motorhome the water does not drain out. So pretty useless really...
Other than that great site
Superb
The standard of this site is super. We had reason to contact site prior to arriving due to weather conditions and the staff were extremely helpful and helpful, something which continued throughout our stay. The site is fantastically clean and tidy, thanks to the hard work of all staff. The pitches are very generous indeed and mainly level.
Using buses is quite easy with lots of info in the information room. It is also a pleasant walk into Knaresborough, Wednesday is market day and comes complete with town cryer. There are also some lovely walks in the Nidd Valley, accessed a short walk from the site.
The Guy Fawkes Inn in Scotton is a pleasant spot for a pint or meal. However we ate at the Wanderer on site and the food was excellent, all freshly cooked and products sourced locally. A very pleasant spot to pass an evening. The site was quiet when we were there but I expect when it is busy a table reservation may be required.
The staff are some of the friendliest we have come across, thank you for your hard work.
Fabulous Site Team
Great welcome from the site team and nothing was to much trouble. I liked that they had gone that extra mile and provided print out of walks around the site which where very helpful. Site staff very approachable and pleasant. The Bistro was very welcoming and James the bar manager is very polite and friendly. We had our dinner every night we stayed here with no complaints. The food is very good. My only constructive criticism is that the opening and closing times and food times need to be on the doors.
Weekend away
This was our second visit stay to this site ,the 1st being the old site /layout and it was not a nice welcome from the old wardens ,but this time all was redeemed
The wardens were spot on ,and the overall site is well maintained with its new facilities ,we tried the new bistro out and it ticked the boxes .
You can walk into Knaresborough via two routes ,( you can get a small made up leaflet from the information desk showing these routes) and this is about 1.75 miles by road which we opted for
there is also a bus service that runs along side the site to Knaresborough/Harrogate/Ripon/York ,but check the times as its not as frequent as you would like ,plus its a company called explorer which means if you buy a all day return then its only this bus company service that you can use .
but if you get to Knaresborough then there is a better bus service running every 10mins to Harrogate
Both Knaresborough and Harrogate are the main visiting points locally , but going further a field to explore is not a issue as this part of Yorkshire has plenty to keep you interested.
there is a child playground and a suitable dog walk on site and digital TV coverage is good, plus getting to the site is excellent and is well placed and doesn't take you long from the A1.
We came to this site just before new year and it was full ,but I know this is a very popular site ,so book well in advance as most summer months its does fill up quickly
Overall a good well placed and maintained site which ticks all the boxes
Lovely Stay
This was our first stay at this site and we were very impressed with the facilities. It is a good walk into Knaresborough and because of the weather we used the taxi which work out around about £6 each way. We also had a taxi to visit Harrogate which worked out at £13 going out and return £15
There is a train service from Knaresborough to Harrogate which we did not use but the next time we visit it will be something we will look at. We had a lovely meal in the bistro on site and we really enjoyed having this facility as it give you a chance to meet people on the site
Excellent
A recently refurbished site, excellent facilities.
Plus points
Helpful wardens - gave assistance after hours when we had electrical gremlins; precisely the attitude expected from club staff - he also served an excellent pint! Warm welcome on arrival.
The Wanderer Bar and Kitchen; decent sensibly priced grub, proper well kept beer. A warm refuge on a cold night with no heating.
Neat, flat pitches and a tidy well kept site. Spotless facilities.
Dog and bike wash; have neither but great for washing aquaroll and walking boots.
Minus points
Access from Knaresborough not for timid towers.
Pitches close to the bar benefit from the outside smokers' views on Brexit, volume adjustable upwards by adding more beer - might be more babble and more volume on a warm summer's evening.
