Half Term Break

A well maintained site clearly winding down with facilities reduced. The play area was closed off for either faulty equipment or poor fencing around water, which was quite useful considering it was half term. The warden suggested using the play area on the large site next door for the children to play, but the extremely bad language and loutish behaviour of the residents made this unacceptable, this could be heard late into the night from our pitch. The walk to the beach was the only option, this being a benefit of the site location.

Summer break

Having stayed at the Caravan Club site at Hurn Lane, Berrow, Burnham on Sea between the dates 10-24/08/2015 on pitch 24 (next to the playground) I made comments to the female wardens at the end of the second week and, on the evening before our date of departure with regards to the Mother and toddler room and the extremely bad language coming from the play area adjacent to the CC site play area by yobs at around 2am. This complaint was made to ensure that the very high standards at the site were not spoilt and offering the staff an opportunity to rectify the issues . This was dealt with effectively and efficiently by the regional caravan club manager who advised that he had arranged for a squeegee mop and a bucket for the Mother and toddler room, this is a simple but cost effective resolution to the issue of having no drain in the room. The bad behaviour problem from the adjacent site may take a little longer to resolve and I would suggest that if anyone else experiences the same as us please do let the staff know. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would not like anyone to be put off by our experiences but thought it as well to advise that although we had a problem it was sorted you just need to let the staff know.

September 2015

This is a nice site, but with quite a tight entrance road, the wardens were helpful as you would expect, the site and Burnham are very flat so would suit disabled, if you cycle into Burnham it's about 2 miles, but please wear Hi vis clothing and a cycle helmet, as the road in places is quite narrow and very busy, Burnham it's self is quite nice with Lidl-Tesco and Morrison's, however their was talk that the Morrison's might close, as nice as this site is, I think I would give it a miss in the height of the season, as it sits between commercial sites that could be very noisy, and as I said earlier the tight site entrance and busy main road.

Well kept aging site.

We stayed for 4 nights in October. The last mile of the approach is very narrow and the final lane narrower still! The site itself is well laid out with a sensible one way system. When we arrived  the grassed area had just closed but there were plenty of billiard table flat hardstandings. Wardens were helpful and welcoming. Facilities are basic but clean with good pressure and hot water. It was very quiet but I would imagine it could get fairly noisy when the surrounding commercial campsites are in full swing. There is no dog walk available, the only option is the narrow lane outside. the nearest available space is a good 5-10 mins walk down the (unlit) lane. However, once this is negotiated the beach goes forever in both directions.  There are no pubs handy and the heavily developed caravan sites and amusements up the coats held no appeal for us. We failed to find anywhere to eat in Burnham also.

Good as always

We spent 5 nights at the end Sept/beginning Oct and were very fortunate with the weather. I am inclined to agree with another review about the toilet bock. It's obvious that its at the end of the season and in need of a "deep clean". We stayed here 2 years ago and found the wardens then much more friendly and helpful. Fortunately we know the area well. I didn't enjoy the fact that when I was leaving the warden in the office was too busy to stand up and speak to me and rather hurriedly said " thanks have a good journey" with little or no sincerity and continued talking to her colleague in the other office. We shall always return as the site is so convenient for us. Our only other reservation is that the lane from the main road is narrow with water filled ditches and there is no gap between leaving and arrival times.

Ideal for a stopover.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The site is also a short walk from a never ending sandybeach.

The resorts of Weston -s- Mare and Burnham are very jaded and there are very few good restaurants available. Choices are limited to burger and chips etc

Noisy neighbours

Our first stay at this site. Location was fine although a bit of a drive from the motorway. Final approach very narrow. Site kept very nice. Staff very welcoming. Only one toilet block in use? The site is surrounded on 3 sides by neighbouring sites and on both Saturday and Sunday of our 4 night stay we had our peace disturbed by ampified karioki from the site next door. This was not the fault of anyone on the Hurn Lane site but I would avoid this site in future.

Renew

One comment I would like to make is that the old shower block needs to have the shower cubicles renewed as the corners have mildew and the controls have showing signs of limescale and is not in the general condition we have come expected as on other Caravan club sites ,pulse the other shower block being shut even though there were caravans on grass pitches so you couldn't use it when the old block was closed for cleaning.

Fantastic and just required

Stayed over the weekend of Cowboys and Indians and the site was perfect, although busy on the Friday night and Saturday the area was very quiet and a joy to be in. Staff friendly and if required would help as I saw them helping others. Marked 4* just because of the location can be slightly difficult to get to due to small lanes but please don't let this stop you, its not that bad at all. Fantastic stay and will definitely be going again. Facilities spot on and always clean and water nice and hot.
